Story
Meet Diva. How can you resist that precious face!! Diva joined the NorCal family when one of her owners passed away and the other was disabled and unable to take care of her. Diva is an easy going, sweet girl, that would love to snuggle next to you on the couch. She gets along with other dogs, loves the attention of people, rides well in the car and is potty trained, with a doggy door. Diva has been fully vetted and other than being horribly overweight she is a healthy girl. Unfortunately, Diva's obesity is our number one concern. She will need to be on a strict diet for an extended period of time and will need to loose at least 15lbs. It will be important to start out with some short walks until she gains some strength and stamina. Stay tuned for more pictures and an update on Diva. If you are interested in this precious girl, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.

Story
Meet Marvin. You will instantly fall in love with this precious boy. Marvin joined the NorCal Family when his owners could no longer take care of him. His chronic ear infections became so painful and infected that it was necessary to have his ear canals removed. Marvin is NOT ready for adoption, due to scheduled ear surgery, but we are hopeful that in several months he will be pain free and ready to find his forever home. In the meantime we are enjoying Marvin's affectionate, loving personality. He loves to have his tummy rubbed and will give you a gentle paw, asking for more pets. Marvin loves his walks, car rides and is good with other dogs. We will keep you posted on Marvin's progress and let you know when he is ready to be adopted. Update on Marvin. He has had surgery on one ear and is doing fabulous!!! Please don't be scared away by Marvin's deafness. We don't think Marvin knows he is deaf. :-)

Story
Meet Amber. This beautiful girl joined the NorCal family when she was found as a stray and ended up in a Sacramento shelter. She was horribly matted and neglected. Amber is a sweet, affectionate, very active little girl, with lots of puppy energy. She runs like the wind around her backyard, loves car rides and would love to take long walks with you. Amber has some separation anxiety, but appears to be feeling more confident and safe every day. She bonded very quickly with her foster mom and can be somewhat possessive if other dogs are also getting attention. For this reason, Amber would be better as an only dog. Amber needs a home with a good size, secure yard and someone that can be home the majority of the time, to give her the time, attention and training that she needs. If you are interested in Amber, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.

Story
Meet Bubba. Bubba joined the NorCal family when his owner could no longer take care of him. Bubba is a 3.5 year old bundle of joy. This boy will greet you and want to give you kisses every time he sees you. Bubba loves to play with small balls and will carry one around quite often. Playing Chuck-It in a large back yard is one of his favorite things to do 2 or 3 times a day. He enjoys walking and would make an excellent hiking or agility buddy. Bubba is leash trained and with consistent expectations, he is learning to walk without pulling. He is the perfect gentleman in the house as he is completely housetrained. Bubba adapts quickly to a new routine and is responding well to basic commands. "Off" is a big one that he is learning as he loves to jump on people to say hi. Bubba will sleep at night in a crate or would be happy to sleep on your bed. He loves to cuddle on the sofa for short periods of time and in between play times. Bubba gets along with the resident cavalier. He loves to chase the cats and the birds that visit "his" backyard. So cats in his home are most likely a no. Bubba rides well in the car. It does not appear that Bubba has had a lot of experience in the outside world. A parked UPS truck and a parked motorcycle got lots of barks. The good news is he is a fast learner and with guidance he is understanding that these things are normal. Bubba can be a bit mouthy when playing as he is still on the young side. He also loves to "steal" things off of tables and off of floors. He will let you take things out of his mouth easily and is responding to verbal corrections. If you are looking for an active dog that loves to play fetch, explore a backyard and take long walks, this boy is a dream! The latest update from Bubba's foster mom is that once he settled into his new home, his energy level subsided. He is not a crazy puppy anymore, but is behaving more like the 3 year old that his is!! Bubba has been fully vetted and has a clean bill of health, other than the usual cocker ear infections. If you are interested in Bubba, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out and adoption application.

Story
Meet Woody – A Senior Pup with a Big Heart! This amazing boy has the most unbelievable transformation we have ever seen.!! Woody is a 10-12-year-old cocker spaniel-poodle mix who weighs just under 20 pounds. He’s been through a lot, but nothing can stop this little guy from enjoying the simple joys of life. Found as a stray and rescued from a city shelter, Woody’s past is a mystery. What we do know is that he endured years of neglect before finding his way to Norcal Cocker Rescue in January. His coat was matted, his body was emaciated, and he struggled with limited use of his hind legs. We weren’t sure if he would make it, but Woody made an amazing comeback. With some nutritious food and lots of love, this little guy rediscovered his will to live and now embraces every day with excitement and joy! Woody’s absolute favorite thing in the world is going for walks. He may not see well in the dark, but he’s thrilled with a nice 20-minute stroll during the day. He has excellent leash manners and doesn’t need much activity—just a short walk and he’s content. Potty training is coming along nicely, especially with a regular walk routine. He likes to go to bed early (around 8 pm), sleeps for about 12 hours, and wakes up every morning full of joy, ready to embrace another beautiful day. Woody is an easygoing old fella. He lives with several cats and is great with them, as well as other dogs. He respects other dogs’ boundaries but enjoys the company of younger, playful pups too. Currently, he shares his foster home with a large senior dog and his best friend—a spirited 2-year-old cocker spaniel. Though Woody’s past has left him with some lasting challenges, they don’t stop him from living life to the fullest. He has mild kidney disease, a grade 2-3 heart murmur, and arthritis. He also has limited vision and hearing, but none of that slows him down. Woody is looking for a quiet home where he can relax and enjoy the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who has truly experienced a second chance at life, Woody might just be the perfect fit for your home. He’s got a heart full of love to give and will surely brighten up your world. Ready to meet Woody? Contact Norcal Cocker Rescue today to learn more! 🐾💙

Story
Meet Henry. This sweet boy came to us when his owners could no longer care for him. Henry had an unfortunate experience when his owner (with dementia) and an inexperienced, caretaker, surrounded Henry, scaring him, resulting in a bite. We truly believe that Henry was only trying to protect himself and it was not his fault. Because we believe in full disclosure, we felt it was necessary to share this information regarding Henry. Henry would love to be with someone that would take him on walks or car rides, snuggle with him on the couch, let him sleep on the bed with you and give you years of wonderful companionship. Henry has been to the Vet and has a clean bill of health. The Vet and the Groomer are not his favorite places to go, but overall Henry is a sweet, affectionate, loving boy. If you are interested in Henry, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.
