Story
Meet Snoopy. Snoopy came to us when his family surrendered him, so he could receive the attention and love he deserves. Snoopy's foster mom reports that he is a wonderful boy, who has a charming disposition and has adjusted well to his foster home. He has a a lot of energy and loves to play ball or with any toy. He is a great retriever. Snoopy is potty trained, uses a doggy door, gets along with other dogs, when introduced properly, greets people gently and is very friendly. Snoopy sleeps though the night, does well when left alone, loves to go on walks, which he needs a couple times a day to expend his puppy energy. Snoopy rides well in the car, does not bark, enjoys being petted and doesn't mind baths or being brushed. Snoopy is a chow hound and will counter surf, if you aren't watching. He does fairly well on leash, but needs a bit of training. He knows sit, shake and down. He is a typical cocker and will be your velcro dog. He will love his person, unconditionally. Snoopy would not do well in an apartment or condo. He needs a secure yard and someone that can be home with him the majority of the time. Snoopy has been to the vet and has a clean bill of health. If you have a lot of love and energy to share with a love bug, Snoopy is the dog for you. He will cuddle up on the sofa with you, but while not cuddling, he will be bringing you toys to throw or just hang out with you. If you are interested in Snoopy, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.

Story
Meet Lucy. This sweet 7 year old girl joined the NorCal family when a Good Samaritan found her lying on the side of the road. Lucy was matted, filthy, weak and lethargic. The gentleman knocked on doors in the neighborhood and discovered two lovely women, that lived a couple blocks from each other. They offered to take Lucy and try and find her owner. They immediately called NorCal and took her to the Vet. Lucy had terrible ear infections, eye infections and swelling in the pit of her arm. Upon examination, it was discovered that Lucy had embedded foxtails in her chest wall that needed to be surgically removed. Lucy's ears were so infected that they could not examine her inner ear and she was in desperate need of her teeth being cleaned. Lucy returned home to one of women's homes with drains in her chest. For the next month these two amazing women have taken care of Lucy and nursed her back to health. Lucy is a resilient, loving, affectionate girl. She is running around now, chasing balls, loving her walks and snuggling on the couch. After numerous trips to the Vet it has been discovered that Lucy has Cushings disease. This is a condition, common to cockers, where their adrenal gland produces high levels of cortisol. Cushings is easily managed with medication and regular vet check ups and blood work. We hope that this condition will not discourage you from wanting to provide Lucy with a loving, safe happy home. She is an amazing girl with so much love to give. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Lucy, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.

He loves to go hiking, car rides and to the lake for a swim. Nothing slows him down. Story
Meet our newest friends, Blake and Toby. Blake is the buff and white boy, and Toby is the black and white boy. Both boys are on the larger size for cockers (over 40 pounds) and are currently living in Washington State. Sadly, their original owner could no longer take care of them and handed them off to a relative who is already overwhelmed with her own personal 5 dogs and does not have her own house until after the first of the year. They are very sweet boys, but they have not been socialized with other dogs, so the situation is tough.  The boys are spending a lot of time in crates just to keep the peace. This is not good for them and the kind hearted lady who is taking care of them knows that. She wants them to have a good life. They have common issues, cherry eye, dry eye, cocker ears and skin allergies. She is willing to help out with medical expenses but needs to get them out of her temporary home and into a foster or adoptive home. We think it would be ok to separate them as some of the behavior may tone down if they are separated (litter-mate syndrome).  Both boys are 6 years old, neutered and housebroken. It would be best for them to go to a home with no other pets until they can be socialized properly. Blake is initially more shy than Toby, and Toby is more active.  If you can foster or adopt one or both, we want to hear from you!   ##2138702##
