Story
Meet Diva. How can you resist that precious face!! Diva joined the NorCal family when one of her owners passed away and the other was disabled and unable to take care of her. Diva is an easy going, sweet girl, that would love to snuggle next to you on the couch. She gets along with other dogs, loves the attention of people, rides well in the car and is potty trained, with a doggy door. Diva has been fully vetted and other than being horribly overweight she is a healthy girl. Unfortunately, Diva's obesity is our number one concern. She will need to be on a strict diet for an extended period of time and will need to loose at least 15lbs. It will be important to start out with some short walks until she gains some strength and stamina. Stay tuned for more pictures and an update on Diva. If you are interested in this precious girl, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.

Story
Meet Marvin. You will instantly fall in love with this precious boy. Marvin joined the NorCal Family when his owners could no longer take care of him. His chronic ear infections became so painful and infected that it was necessary to have his ear canals removed. Marvin is NOT ready for adoption, due to scheduled ear surgery, but we are hopeful that in several months he will be pain free and ready to find his forever home. In the meantime we are enjoying Marvin's affectionate, loving personality. He loves to have his tummy rubbed and will give you a gentle paw, asking for more pets. Marvin loves his walks, car rides and is good with other dogs. We will keep you posted on Marvin's progress and let you know when he is ready to be adopted.

Story
Meet Amber. This beautiful girl joined the NorCal family when she was found as a stray and ended up in a Sacramento shelter. She was horribly matted and neglected. Amber is a sweet, affectionate, very active little girl, with lots of puppy energy. She runs like the wind around her backyard, loves car rides and would love to take long walks with you. Amber has some separation anxiety, but appears to be feeling more confident and safe every day. She bonded very quickly with her foster mom and can be somewhat possessive if other dogs are also getting attention. For this reason, Amber would be better as an only dog. Amber needs a home with a good size, secure yard and someone that can be home the majority of the time, to give her the time, attention and training that she needs. If you are interested in Amber, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.

Story
Meet Bubba. Bubba joined the NorCal family when his owner could no longer take care of him. Bubba is a 3.5 year old bundle of joy. This boy will greet you and want to give you kisses every time he sees you. Bubba loves to play with small balls and will carry one around quite often. Playing Chuck-It in a large back yard is one of his favorite things to do 2 or 3 times a day. He enjoys walking and would make an excellent hiking or agility buddy. Bubba is leash trained and with consistent expectations, he is learning to walk without pulling. He is the perfect gentleman in the house as he is completely housetrained. Bubba adapts quickly to a new routine and is responding well to basic commands. Off is a big one that he is learning as he loves to jump on people to say hi. Bubba will sleep at night in a crate or would be happy to sleep on your bed. He loves to cuddle on the sofa for short periods of time and in between play times. Bubba gets along with the resident cavalier. He loves to chase the cats and the birds that visit "his" backyard. So cats in his home are most likely a no. Bubba rides well in the car. It does not appear that Bubba has had a lot of experience in the outside world. A parked UPS truck and a parked motorcycle got lots of barks. The good news is he is a fast learner and with guidance he is understanding that these things are normal. Bubba can be a bit mouthy when playing as he is still on the young side. He also loves to "steal" things off of tables and off of floors. He will let you take things out of his mouth easily and is responding to verbal corrections. If you are looking for an active dog that loves to play fetch, explore a backyard and take long walks, this boy is a dream! It's important to emphasis how much exercise Bubba needs and his level of energy. :-) Bubba has been fully vetted and has a clean bill of health, other than the usual cocker ear infections. If you are interested in Bubba, please go on our website at norcalcockerrescue.org and fill out and adoption application.

Story
Meet our newest friends, Blake and Toby. Blake is the buff and white boy, and Toby is the black and white boy. Both boys are on the larger size for cockers (over 40 pounds) and are currently living in Washington State. Sadly, their original owner could no longer take care of them and handed them off to a relative who is already overwhelmed with her own personal 5 dogs and does not have her own house until after the first of the year. They are very sweet boys, but they have not been socialized with other dogs, so the situation is tough.  The boys are spending a lot of time in crates just to keep the peace. This is not good for them and the kind hearted lady who is taking care of them knows that. She wants them to have a good life. They have common issues, cherry eye, dry eye, cocker ears and skin allergies. She is willing to help out with medical expenses but needs to get them out of her temporary home and into a foster or adoptive home. We think it would be ok to separate them as some of the behavior may tone down if they are separated (litter-mate syndrome).  Both boys are 6 years old, neutered and housebroken. It would be best for them to go to a home with no other pets until they can be socialized properly. Blake is initially more shy than Toby, and Toby is more active.  If you can foster or adopt one or both, we want to hear from you!   ##2138702##
