Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I'm Lemon Tart!  When I came into rescue I had a little secret hidden in my belly and had pups soon after arriving in MN.  I was a sweet loving mama, but those days are over and I'm ready to be someone's baby girl.  let me tell you about myself. I'm a sweet shy lady who wants to be loved, but can be unsure of how to ask for it.  In my home I usually follow a few feet behind my mom as she does things because I want to be near her.  When she looks at me I will take a few steps towards her and then sit and hang my head submissively.  She gets down to my level and gently gives me scratches and pets and kisses my head and tells me I'm a good girl.  I like that and when she stops I either remain or I look up like I'm saying why did you stop?  With strangers I'm quite skittish.  I need time and patience from you to know that you love me and just want the best for me. I'm sweet as pie so please know there isn't one mean bone in my body.  I'll just look at you with worried eyes and then hang my head or run and hide if you scare me.  Once I know my home I'm much more relaxed.  When I see my mom in the morning now my eyes light up and I'm smiling and my body is wiggling a happy hello.  When I'm with my doggie friends I do feel more confident and I do need one in my future home that I can follow and learn from.  I'd love to have one that will play with me. That's when you see the carefree girl.  I do require a secure fenced yard right now since a leash is just too scary.  I think little kids would be too overwhelming since they are fast and loud and I don't want to hide.  I am kennel trained and I never make a mess and I've never made a peep in my home.  I've been wonderful about going outside to do my business too.  I don't really care about food, but I do eat like to eat my meals in my kennel.  That way no one else eats my portion.  Do you have love in your heart for a girl like me? Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Hi! I'm from Missouri! From his foster: Austin is a sweet Cockapoo bursting with potential and charm! Though he's deaf and has a minor vision impairment, this little guy navigates the world like a pro. Trust us, his adorable face and disheveled hair will melt your heart! From the moment he arrived, any concerns about his disabilities vanished. Austin is a bundle of joy who loves to wag his cute little behind and explore! Daily visits to a fenced yard have been his playground, where he happily chases and wiggles around with my parents' dog. While a fenced area isn't a must, it would definitely make his tail wag even more as he follows his nose and sniffs around-something he truly enjoys! Austin also loves walks around the neighborhood. He may pull a bit on the leash, but he's improving, and he always takes a moment to assess new people, sitting calmly and waiting for reassurance. With a little training, he can definitely learn hand signals! Austin has a playful side, too! He loves playing with a ball, pouncing on it and chasing it around the room. He's a gentle soul-never aggressive-and he behaves perfectly in the car. His favorite toys are the tougher, rubber ones, as he tends to nibble off the appendages of the plush ones. After a day of fun, he enjoys curling up on the couch and taking cozy naps. At night, Austin sleeps in his kennel and does just fine when left alone for errands. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will fill your life with love and laughter, Austin is your guy! From the Vet: Hello! I am Austin and I wanted to let my future family know about my on-going medical care. I was seen at a TBB vet partner and it was determined that I have a genetic condition called retinal atrophy. This condition is stable at this time with out needing any special medicine/care so any future care for my eyes will be the responsibility of my adopters.
