Story
Rey is a 3 year old female (spayed) cockatoo that we’ve had since she was a puppy. My son and I have struggled with this decision but want what is best for Rey. Following divorce and with busy career and single dad work schedule and my son becoming more and more busy as he gets closer to college age we just don’t have the time that our pup deserves. We want to find her a loving home. She is an incredibly loving pup and typically wants nothing more than to cuddle. As a part of due diligence if at all possible my son and I would like to meet potential adopters and either see her new home or reasonable pictures that she’s going to have a good environment. We just want something safe. We are not in a hurry and want to find her the right fit. She does have what we assume are “allergies” with some itching behavior and paw chewing but that responds very very with cytopoint injection about 3 times a year or there’s a newer oral medicine the vet said would likely work.

Story
Due to limit of Chars, very brief in description. Highly trained. 7 years old. Rings a bell to go potty. 1st gen cockapoo which means no fur and dander, only hair, like humans. So allergy free pet. Originally trained to be a service dog so he picks up things for you that drop(except for metal objects), close cabinet doors, etc. Many other little things. He would be great for a gentle person that is at home a lot. veteran, retired, etc. Hes grown up and lived with me working from home. When I changed jobs a yr ago, joy in life for him went out the window. Now Im gone long hours. Though he is very well potty trained, hes home alone a lot. Its not fair and I feel his distress. The other problem is hes not suited for apartment life. Way too many noises. Its the first time Ive lived in an apt and he is not adjusting well. Open to speaking more to someone about things you can and can do with him. I would mention it here, but there is a character limit. He needs to be groomed

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue:10/2/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder surrender / accidental litter Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Wanda is up to date on vaccines for her age. She is not spayed due to age and size. Wanda's mom is a standard poodle / cocker spaniel mix. Her dad is a very large golden retriever. She is NOT hypoallergenic and will shed.  Weight: 25 lbs and growing - we expect Wanda will be between 45-55 pounds when full grown. Height: 17 in and growing - we expect Wanda will be between 22-24 inches when full grown. Spayed/Neutered: No. Wanda will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to spay her within 12 months at your cost and provide proof of neuter. Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? Yes, Wanda is going to be a large dog. She requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! While our ideal home for puppies has another young dog in it, Wanda could be adopted to a home where he is the only dog as long as there is a solid plan for regular socialization a minimum of 4 times per week.  Socialization occurs when dogs are off leash and free to be themselves, unencumbered by human restraints (other than the fence that keeps them safely contained). Socialization times would be for instance, inviting a neighbor or friend over with their dog to play in your fenced yard or going to someone else’s home to play in their fence yard. Socialization time could be doggy daycare. Socialization time could be a group walk if you include a playtime at the end of it. Training classes do not always include socialization time. Some puppy classes do include a period of time at the end where the dogs can romp and play together. This would be perfectly acceptable. Time can also take place inside the home, it does not have to be an outdoor area, as long as the dogs are free to interact with each other without leashes or other restraints. When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can!  What is my personality like? Happy, excitable, eager to learn - Wanda is a baby exploring the world! The most important thing for Wanda is that her adopter(s) is happy excited, and ready to take on loving and training their new puppy. As a puppy she will need to be taught everything, from walking on a leash to basic commands to potty training. Wanda, as noted above, is like a newborn and every experience is new to her. You will be her human parent and her teacher. You will be her world! Wanda and her siblings are relatively new here at the farm and are a tad reserved as they adjust to their new environment. Once she adjusts and becomes settled here there is no doubt that she'll exhibit all the qualities you find in any puppy. Right now, the little girl has discovered belly rubs, and she LOVES them! Wanda is becoming a very playful girl, and she loves people. Wanda is an interesting breed mix. Her mom is a standard poodle / cocker spaniel mix (not your average sized cockapoo for sure!). Her dad is a very large (100 lb) golden retriever. We've met both of the parents. They are both well-mannered dogs and very sweet.  How do I act when I first meet new people? I'm a puppy, I LOVE everybody! Come play with me! Other tips and tidbits: Wanda was born on 5/27/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 8, 2024, 9:40 am
