Story
Tucker is a little cockapoo mix who's about 1-1/2 years old and weighs 13 lbs. He was confiscated from a hoarder, along with several other dogs. Tucker was not well socialized, and his foster family has been working with him on both housetraining and confidence. Tucker is improving on leash walking, although he will sometimes just sit down and not want to move forward. But he's treat-motivated and will run ahead to get a treat tossed in front of him. When he encounters another dog on a leash, or a person walking by, sometimes he begins to shake and needs reassurance. When people visit, he'll bark initially (not in a threatening way) but with his tail wagging. After a few minutes of reassurance, he relaxes. Tucker loves to play fetch in the house and sometimes outside if the environment is quiet. He's super affectionate and loves to cuddle, and as his confidence builds, he's learning to be independent. Tucker would be best in a house with a yard and another socialized dog who can teach him that he no longer has to be afraid, and to help him continue to blossom. This boy's name is Duke and he needs a good, loving home. And like the woman who adopted him as a small pup, he is a pure lover. He lives for love and attention and despite his age, has lots of energy! Does well on a leash, loves the outdoors, walks, hikes, camping, etc. He is good with other dogs and cats and was even good with my little 2 y/o nephew Isaac. Why do we feel we need to let him go? Duke's original loving owner passed away a few years ago. She had the energy, love, and affection he needed. Having 3 pets has been just too much for us and we can't give him what he really needs; attention. He has some separation anxiety and this causes some behavioral problems like peeing when left alone too long and being a bit hyper when you first get home! Other times, he is so well behaved and a great dog. Duke would thrive in a scenario where he would get consistent attention and activity like walks and runs, and where his caretaker can be around often.

Jakey Blues joined us from our local shelter where he had a terrible infection in his few remaining teeth. After a trip to our vet, he is feeling - and smelling - much better! He has a spring in his step as he moves around his foster home and happily enjoys treats and lots of cuddles on the couch. His vision and hearing are less than perfect so a mellow home is going to be his best match. Jakey is fine with the other small dogs in his foster home or he'd be content as your one and only. Andy is an 8 years “young” gorgeous poodle mix who still believes he’s a puppy. He weighs a perfect 34 pounds, is housetrained, and he loves his life since his rescue. Andy was tied up outside for years, with minimal shelter, and when he came to us, he had a foxtail embedded in his eye, and many inside his ears, causing a ruptured eardrum and excruciating pain. Andy has bounced back and has become the funniest and most gregarious dog. He loves riding in the car, walking in the neighborhood, and his chew toys. Andy should be with an experienced dog-person, and even though he loves other dogs on his walks, he should be the only dog in his new home due to his resource guarding. Andy would be happiest if he had his own yard, with only adult parents. He can be slow to warm up to strangers, but once he does, he’s a joy. Louie and Frannie are an adorable and dynamic duo who have been together through thick and thin. They were brought into the shelter together and reported as "found," however the staff observed behavior that convinced them the owner was dumping her dogs. Louie ended up with life life-threatening pneumonia while in the shelter, and Frannie had multiple mammary masses which have since been removed and were fortunately benign. Both are now ready to start living the good life with a lucky family. Frannie is outgoing and effusive and loves everyone she meets. Her preferred spot to sit is in your lap and she loves showing off her favorite trick which is to sit up and wave. Louie also loves to cuddle and has a more laid-back approach, which makes them a well-balanced duo. Both these sweet babies are potty trained and love to go on walks. We call these types of dogs “plug and play“ because they are just so easy, sweet and adaptable. You won’t find two cuter or more loving pups on the planet! The adoption fee for the pair is $350.
