Story
Hello my name is Austin, I'm from Missouri! From his previous foster: Austin is a sweet Cockapoo bursting with potential and charm! Though he's deaf and has a minor vision impairment, this little guy navigates the world like a pro. Trust us, his adorable face and disheveled hair will melt your heart! From the moment he arrived, any concerns about his disabilities vanished. Austin is a bundle of joy who loves to wag his cute little behind and explore! Daily visits to a fenced yard have been his playground, where he happily chases and wiggles around with my parents' dog. While a fenced area isn't a must, it would definitely make his tail wag even more as he follows his nose and sniffs around-something he truly enjoys! Austin also loves walks around the neighborhood. He may pull a bit on the leash, but he's improving, and he always takes a moment to assess new people, sitting calmly and waiting for reassurance. With a little training, he can definitely learn hand signals! Austin has a playful side, too! He loves playing with a ball, pouncing on it and chasing it around the room. He's a gentle soul-never aggressive-and he behaves perfectly in the car. His favorite toys are the tougher, rubber ones, as he tends to nibble off the appendages of the plush ones. After a day of fun, he enjoys curling up on the couch and taking cozy naps. At night, Austin sleeps in his kennel and does just fine when left alone for errands. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will fill your life with love and laughter, Austin is your guy! From the Vet: Hello! I am Austin and I wanted to let my future family know about my on-going medical care. I was seen at a TBB vet partner and it was determined that I have a genetic condition called retinal atrophy. This condition is stable at this time with out needing any special medicine/care so any future care for my eyes will be the responsibility of my adopters.

Story
Hello my name is Amy and I'm originally from Missouri. I may be deaf but my mom tells me I am the prettiest little girl with my blue eyes and curly ears! I LOVE to be by my people, either by their feet or on their lap. I like to get my zoomies out and then I am the best cuddler/napper. I love to sleep with my humans, usually right by their neck. The kennel is not my favorite. I might have some separation anxiety too. My foster Mom is helping me with both issues so that someday I'll be a strong, confident companion. In the meantime, having another confident dog in the house is imperative for my mental, physical and emotional growth. I am learning how to do "all" things puppy. My leash training has been going well, I am just curious about everything so I make frequent stops. The resident dog has welcomed me and she is showing me the ropes. Sometimes she shows me her teeth when I get to be too much for her, I don't quite understand! I have been working hard on my potty training and I do really well on a schedule. Accidents are rare but every now and again, I just can't wait to get outside. Someday, I'll be perfect but until then, I'm just perfectly imperfect. My foster mom tells me I am bunny-like with as much as I jump around and land on all fours. I have managed to jump a baby gate and open a taller gate with my teeth. I am a very determined puppy who just wants to be with my people! I greet my family every morning and every time I see them with the best butt wiggle and tail wag. I'm also very food motivated and figured out how to jump up on the kitchen counter when there's food there. I'm pretty smart which helps with learning how to sit, touch, stop and come. I am not going to try to escape but since I'm deaf, I'm worried about what would happen if I ever got off leash. Accidents happen so I'm wearing an Apple Air Tag, just in case! Note: I was probably born deaf and the vet suspects my eye problem is congenital microphthalmia. Microphthalmia is an inherited eye disorder. No treatment or monitoring is required. Vision is probably impaired but you can't tell by my behavior!

These pups are in Minnetonka, Minnesota too!

I am looking for a foster or forever family! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster! Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi! My name is Cookie and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Cookie a yorkipoo breeder release. She has diabetes and is blind, but still manages to be sweet and silly. She loves being with her humans and snuggles. She has strong opinions about being separated and will use her voice to let you know exactly how she feels. She is also pretty quick to settle down. She does seem to go potty and poop on a schedule but is also still prone to have accidents in the house. She doesn't have accidents in her kennel, on the furniture,or while being held. She does enjoy small walks and does okay on a leash. Because Cookie is blind I do feel that she would benefit from another small to medium sized dog in the house. She would need someone willing to keep a good schedule for her Insulin and to follow through with veterinarian appointments. From the Vet: I am Cookie and I have been cleared for adoption! After TBB helping to address my medical issues I will share where I am at with all of them. My diabetes is currently managed on 1.5 units of insulin twice daily and a special veterinary diet. My next recheck glucose curve (typically a day that I stay at the vet for monitoring throughout the day) will be due approximately 2-5 months from September 2024. I was seen for a mammary mass removal surgery recently and the good news is that the biopsy showed that the tumors were benign with good margins. This means that the removal procedure is likely to be curative for these masses and we do not expect me to need any future care for this issue. It is always good to routinely monitor for any masses and have them evaluated in the future should any present.

Story
Hi! My name is Pixie and I am from Arkansas. From her foster: Do you need to unleash 12 lbs of pure joy and unbridled glee in your house? Then look no further - Pixie the Poodle is your gal! With typical Poodle tendances, Pixie is athletic and VERY eager to please. She gallups through the house, alternately chasing toys and springing into laps. She can sleep quietly on a couch next to you, but she much prefers to be in your lap or pressed up against you, gazing adoringly into your eyes. If she thinks you're not 100% convinced of her love for you, she'll walk her long legs up your torso until you're nose-to-nose, gaze deep into your eyes and then sigh contently with her head on your shoulder. Please don't plan on having personal space with Pixie - that is not her style! Pixie is excellent with dogs and kids. She would be fine as an only dog, but I think she'd really thrive with another dog in the house. She walks well on a leash, but of course gets distracted by every leaf, dog and snowflake around! I know the strict rest after her heartworm treatment (scheduled to begin Jan 10) can be daunting, but I’m happy to share some tips and tricks I’ve learned to help her stay quiet during the treatment period. She does have a cataract in her left eye and will slowly lose vision in just that eye; the vet says it should affect her quality of life at all. She has a mild skin condition that is clearing up nicely and should keep getting better with regular baths and good nutrition. Pixie is an absolute LOVE and would make a wonderful addition to any household! I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

Story
Hi! My name is Benny and I am from Missouri. From his foster: Benny is a breeder release who doesn't have experience living in a house. He came to us very anxious and fearful, but he has made progress everyday. He is now comfortable with being in his kennel and walking on a leash. We are working on house training him. He hasn’t attempted to use the stairs yet. We don’t know if he would be good with cats. Benny has met other dogs and shows interest in them, but is very timid. He is skittish with loud noises or sudden movement and is an escape risk. Benny loves to cuddle on the sofa and loves pets.
