Story
Ziggy is a wonderful active pet who is very loyal and protective of his owners. We purchased him as a purebred puppy (Cockapoo) from Dreamy Puppy Petstore in Chantilly, VA. We later learned in the news that the defunct Dream Puppy store was a puppy mill that can explain his socialization issues with people but not owners or other dogs growing up. We also learned that Ziggy had siblings at a few dog boarding places in Chantilly, VA. We once met Ziggy's brother (Scout) when we boarded Ziggy at a boarding place when we went on a family vacation. Ziggy has blended into our family of 4 adults. Ziggy enjoys having his haircut (averaging approximately every two months) by Wendy from Strut Your Mutt. Ziggy loves to play fetch/catch with his toys.

Story
Meet VELVET! Velvet is as sweet as she is gorgeous; she is a 6 month old, 17 pound black/wheaten cockapoo mix! This strikingly beautiful gal is sweet, lovable and a champion tall-wagger. She is excited to meet people (of all ages) and dogs, but also nuzzles up to you for head rubs or belly rubs, and gives so gentle of "kisses." She still has that puppy playfulness at times but also has adjusted quickly and well to home living. Velvet, even though still young, can also chill comfortably when you are busy with your work. She loves playing with her toys and will cuddle with you during quiet times. Velvet is smart, but, as with any young dog, she will need to continue with some basic training. She has done great with other dogs. Velvet was surrendered to a vet in North Carolina by an older person who originally wanted to breed this puppy. Luckily for Velvet, a local foster agreed to temporarily give her a safe place to stay until we could bring this extremely sweet dog into PetConnect when a great foster offered to let her hang out. Velvet is very happy to now be in the DC area to find a forever family that will give her the attention that she deserves and let her be the puppy instead of becoming a puppy making machine. Velvet would love to curl up with you to hang out on a cool fall night; she loves to cuddle and get pets! She would be an excellent new member of the family! ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ) , spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Velvet is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email Robin at kinstondogs@verizon.net **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Please contact Mamie Hall (mamie.hall@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.WAS long-tressed damsel in distress! RAPUNZEL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Rapunzel     Best Guess for Breed:  Poodle mix, maybe some terrier   Best Guess for Age:   8 years as of October 2024      SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:    17 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.    Currently Living at:   DC area foster home!   Special adoption considerations:  Rapunzel is a truly Lucky Dog!  She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   About Rapunzel:   The two-legged Rapunzel was a long-haired damsel in distress who needed to be rescued from her tower. This four-legged Rapunzel was a terribly long-haired damsel in distress who needed to be rescued from deplorable conditions. Only last July (2024), she had been a filthy, overgrown and matted mess, rescued from a terrible situation in a barn along with several other senior dogs. They were known as the Tangled 10 and they all required so much vetting and grooming.Rapunzel got all cleaned up and healthy. She went into an amazing foster home in South Carolina, where she learned what love is like and to trust humans. What a cushy bed is like, what quality food tastes like. She's still learning all about the world - she's got lost time to make up for! Now she is oh so eager to have her very own home, to be safe and loved for all her days. A home where she gets to get the long sniffy walks she didn't get to do the first part of her life, where she gets to see the world. What do you say? Does she get to do that by your side? Do you get all the love, adoring gazes, and loyal companionship she has to offer? What My DC Area Foster Says About Me:  Rapunzel is doing really well.  She follows me and my dog like a shadow. She is eating and drinking really well, she likes treats. If you pick her up, she just settles on you and doesn't mind being held. She is active and likes to walk, and is gaining confidence!     Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   !
