Story
Tucker is a little cockapoo mix who's about 1-1/2 years old and weighs 13 lbs. He was confiscated from a hoarder, along with several other dogs. Tucker was not well socialized, and his foster family has been working with him on both housetraining and confidence. Tucker is improving on leash walking, although he will sometimes just sit down and not want to move forward. But he's treat-motivated and will run ahead to get a treat tossed in front of him. When he encounters another dog on a leash, or a person walking by, sometimes he begins to shake and needs reassurance. When people visit, he'll bark initially (not in a threatening way) but with his tail wagging. After a few minutes of reassurance, he relaxes. Tucker loves to play fetch in the house and sometimes outside if the environment is quiet. He's super affectionate and loves to cuddle, and as his confidence builds, he's learning to be independent. Tucker would be best in a house with a yard and another socialized dog who can teach him that he no longer has to be afraid, and to help him continue to blossom. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Tucker, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Story
Gretta is about 23 lbs, white and beige straight hair that sheds very little if at all. She is a 2-year-old of unknown breed mix; could be part west highland white terrier or ?? Her mom was a 9-lb chihuahua. She is very cautious and is standoffish with strangers at first, a sweet girl that prefers to sit next to her human and not necessarily directly on your lap. She lacks confidence but is slowly getting past this and will improve with more gentle socialization. She is very healthy and strong, but not an escape artist as she prefers to stick to what she already knows. A new adopter will have to be patient with her and coax her to be closer. She likes other dogs after she knows she is safe with them. Not sure about cats. She is potty trained here in her foster home. She has mastered the dog doors, jumping up on beds, couches and benches. Her appetite is wonderful. Loves treats. She co-operates well with a kind and gentle voice, but yelling will scare her. Gretta is kindhearted and gentle, and she will cuddle up if encouraged. She sleeps in our bed with us at nighttime and does not like the crate at all. She is trustworthy. Toys are fun for her, and she adores large beef bones and will chew on them for hours. Gretta would do best in a home with existing dogs who can teach her the routine and want to play with her. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Gretta, the first step is to submit an adoption application.
