Meet the Mid-Autumn Litter! Lotus, Taro, Pamelo, and Edemame! This adorable litter of Chow mix puppies came to the Mission from our friends at SCRAPS! Thanks to our experienced and welcoming foster, we had a place for them to start learning how to become dogs! They are beginning on crate training, potty training, and socialization into society. Their estimated birthdate is 12/7/2024. Chow Chows are not appropriate for all homes and lifestyles. They are a guardian breed and naturally aloof and will likely be standoffish to strangers and unknown animals in adulthood. Extra care must be taken to begin bodily handling and positive social exposure at a young age. They will require routine professional grooming at an interval of every 4-8 weeks, and appointments will likely cost $75-150 per visit. If this is cost prohibitive, these are not the right puppies to be considering.  To learn more about the heritage and temperaments of Chow Chows, follow this link: https://embarkvet.com/resources/dog-breeds/chow-chow/ Each puppy has an adoption fee of $300. They will come microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and altered. They will need to have their rabies vaccines completed once they are old enough. Each puppy will also come home with a leash, collar, and temporary ID tag. If you are interested in adopting one of these sweet babies, the first step is to fill out an applicaiton at www.murcismission.org.  Thanks for checking out the Mid-Autumn Litter!   ##2298744##

Story
Welcome the Baby Bears! These little fluff beasts came from a feral dog colony in central Washington. They were born on 01/01/2025, ringing in the new year in a pile of garbage on a vacant porch. They have a pending DNA test and we will update their profiles once we receive their results.  These puppies are going to be hearty with tolerance for a broad spectrum of weather. They will be independent and strong minded, and in adulthood they may be wary of unknown people. They have thick dense coats and will require professional grooming to avoid matting and impaction of undercoat. Because they come from a multigenerational dog colony where minimal social interaction occured, special care must be taken to acclimate them to bodily handling and experiencing social settings throughout adolescents.  Smokey is calm and cautious about the world around him. He is not overly fearful, but he does prefer to observe new stimulus before jumping right in. He has a thick plush medium length coat which will require regular brushing and professional grooming in order to remain mat free. He has bright blue eyes and a handsome black mask.  Each puppy is well on their way to the good life. They are accustomed to wearing a collar, are crate trained, litter box trained, and have begun house training. They have experience with dogs, cats, kids, car rides, hiking, and public settings. The Baby Bears will come spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. The adoption fee is $300 and includes a leash, collar, ID tag, food sample, medical records, and some bonus goodies. To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application.  ##2288995##

Because they come from a multigenerational dog colony where minimal social interaction occured, special care must be taken to acclimate them to bodily handling and experiencing social settings throughout adolescents.  Rupert is very laissez-faire about life. Things can happen around him and it means very little to him. He likes napping and playing with his siblings, but he will likely be mid to low energy as an adult. He is still confident and likes to be included, but for the most part, he's going with the flow. He has an extremely profuse and long coat and he will need mandatory regular brushing  and professional grooming throughout life or he will become matted. In adulthood, his full grooms will likely cost $75-150 and should be done at least every 8 weeks. Do not apply for him of this is not financially possible.  Each puppy is well on their way to the good life. They are accustomed to wearing a collar, are crate trained, litter box trained, and have begun house training. They have experience with dogs, cats, kids, car rides, hiking, and public settings.
