Story
Geronimo is one of the 7 Alabama chows I rescued from the backyard breeder. 5 siblings have gone on to new loving homes and are thriving, his sister Ky (whom I have not listed) may never leave us....she only likes me. But, Geronimo, with the right home, will do well. Since I have had him I have not heard a bark, but I have heard a couple howls when the firetrucks go by. He is quiet, docile, and minds his own business. He is prime example of an aloof chow. I have scratched his back, pet him under his neck and he will follow me around the yard for treats occasionally.....but if he sees a leash, he is GONE in 2 seconds. SO>>>>>if there are any chow savvy people out there ready for a challenge, please let me know....Serious inquiries only. I want his next home to be his last home. Otherwise, he can just stay here until that happens. He is indifferent to dogs that are indifferent to him, but if a dog (my belgian mal mix) tries to fence fight and cause trouble, he will not back down. He will stand his ground. I do not have cats, but he lived on a property with Multiple cats in the past, and his siblings that have been adopted did great with cats in the home. I am assuming he will be fine with cats, but I can not guarantee. I would prefer an aduly home only for him, because he is not one that would appreciate being grabbed or tugged on. He is 4-5 years old.

Story
Ky is going to need a special chow savvy home with no other pets. She was rescued last fall from a backyard breeding/hoarding situation in Alabama and has come a long way. She was the most aloof one of all and not very trusting of the people she met, but I have gained her trust and love and she has turned out to be such a sweetheart with me. She would be best as an only pet since we have not seen her around cats and she picks and chooses which dogs she likes and does not like. If you are a chow savvy person looking for a best bud, Ky may be the one for you. She will need some time and patience to adjust into her new home.

Story
This sweet girl is in need of a wonderful home. She was nervous at first, but who wouldn't be in an overcrowded loud shelter. She has blossomed into a beautiful sweetheart. She is good with dogs, pretty much ignores cats, and is great with people. She just needs a little patience and understanding, like most chows. If you are interested in her, please fill out our application on ChowCharmerRescue.com.

Story
Found on the side of a road, likely dumped. Horrible open wounds from flea dermatitis. Incredibly friendly and happy boy despite his history! He is still fine tuning his house training and we’re still working on not marking, but otherwise he does not have accidents in his crate. We’re hoping the marking clears once he is neutered 7/2 and once he adjusts to the smells of the other pets in the home. He has had different reactions to dogs. Occasionally he will wag with loose body language and other times he seems to not want them in his space. Understanding the chow breed, there is a good likelihood that he would do best as an only dog. He has not been cat tested yet! This boy has the absolute best smile and is just so happy to receive love! Leroy is located in Columbia, SC but we are happy to arrange transport for a qualified adopter! Story
Hi! My name is Reba and I am a 10 year old chow mix. Don't let my age fool you, I love going on walks or being outside in general. I don't have a ton of energy, so the walks don't even need to be long! After some outdoor activity I love nothing more than laying on the cold floor for a while. Mom says I sometimes pulls back on the leash so without a martingale collar or fitted collar or harness, I would probably slip out of it.Felines are not my favorite, so please be a 'dog only' house! My foster mom doesn't have any other dogs, so please do a meet and greet with yours, if you have any, to make sure we would be a good fit together.I like following you around to see what you're doing but I don't mind being left home alone and only play with my toys. My foster mom also likes to leave me kongs and it keeps me busy since food is my favorite thing. I am very gentle when meeting new people and don't try to jump on anyone. I even walk up to them calmly! I want nothing more than a quiet home with a loving family. My adoption fee of $50 includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Plus, a microchip that is already registered to you! What more could you ask for?If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an application on our website, PawmettoLifeline.org. Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please fill out the online application, and you will be contacted if you are approved and are a good fit for one of our adoptable pets.
