Ko Koi AVAILABLE for ADOPTION! Located in Quebec  Koi is a stunning red rough coat neutered 5 year young male.  He is a typical chow! Quiet unless there’s a reason to alert you, not fond of strangers but dedicated to his trusted person, lazy but still enjoys a good walk.   Koi walks pretty well on leash except when he sees a squirrel!  He’s NOT reactive to other dogs…he actually kind of likes them… just not to live with.  Kio doesn’t want to share the attention of his person with any other animals.  He knows his basic commands, give paw, down and will still pretty for a yummy frozen treat.  He’s actually got a little sweet tooth so watch you goodies!   Again, Koi is looking for a home with no other animals and an experienced handler who understands this misunderstood breed. He will do his job protecting you and your house… and hopefully be your only love-bug! He’s best with young adults 14 or older who understand he’s not a giant Teddy bear even though he looks like one.   If you think you’re home would be a safe place and are interested in a calm gentle companion, please apply for this boy who needs a loving forever home. https://www.sasdv.ca/animal/kio/    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We only respond to serious inquiries. Story
Chance Poor guy… here’s his story… Chance is an approximately 9-10-year-old male who was in the care of Animal Services after his owner became critically ill. A social worker involved in the case first contacted Merlin's Hope on Chance's behalf and described appalling living conditions.  Food was so sparse, that he sadly suffers from malnutrition; Chance's only access to water was the toilet bowl. The social worker had taken pity on Chance and after walking him during a few of her visits,  felt that he deserved happier senior years.  Chance and his owner were removed from their home by ambulance and unfortunately during this transfer, an attendant sustained a bite. We communicated with staff members and recieved videos of a happy dog during his mandatory bite hold at Animal Services.  Merlin's Hope usually doesn't accept dogs with a bite history as they may not be adoptable, but because of our understanding of chows and the specific circumstances, we decided to take a chance on Chance! Chance's shelter report described an underweight dog whose sparse coat was not only matted with urine and feces, but somehow also contained blanket fabric and leash bits. Medically an infection was indicated along with skin and tooth issues, but his kidney and liver values are only slightly out of the desired range. The bad news is Chance was deemed to be aggressive at intake and in other shelter and vet interactions. Today we pulled this pitiful-looking guy who otherwise would have been euthanized and started him on a dewormer and antibiotics. Sadly there aren't many people looking for a 10-year-chow with missing fur, a bite history, and other medical issues. We do know that Chance deserves better than to be put down by strangers in a scary environment.  So, we’re giving him a chance to settle in, improve medically, and perhaps even be adopted. Whether he is with us for a day, a week, or a year, so long as he is with Merlin's Hope, Chance will be well-fed and cared for. If his final days are with us, we will make sure that Chance has known love and compassion. Please consider giving Chance a chance. He has been an only dog for a lot of years, so let’s minimize the stress and pray there’s a quiet home with no other pets or children where he can relax and enjoy the rest of his life happily.   Chance is a good listener, walks well on leash, gives paw and enjoys company.  He is a playful boy who just needs to be loved…fed regularly (every day) have fresh water available all the time, and let outside to do his business a few times a day. He’s low maintenance.  If you are willing to open your heart & home, please complete & submit an application form at merlinshope.com      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We only respond to serious inquiries.
