Story
Grace has been loving life since arriving to foster in mid November. She has made great headway and is becoming quite the wonderful little companion.
At approximately nine months old and 30lbs, she is pretty much fully grown. Grace, affectionately known as ‘Gracie’ to her foster family has a soft, fluffy coat with a curly tail.
When she arrived, she had to learn all about human affection and it’s safe to say she loves it. Gracie now enjoys laying curled up alongside of you, loves pets, belly rubs and especially ear and paw massages. She is quite the little princess.
Gracie has a big personality, loves, loves, loves other dogs and really enjoys being outside. She gets along well with all dogs, though seems to have a bit of a preference with the females - almost always choosing them to play and snuggle with. Gracie loves soft toys that she can “de-squeak”, soft blankets to roll in and keeping an eye out for nosy neighbors (she might be one herself ) We would prefer Gracie has another dog in her furever home.
Gracie is still a tad shy when meeting new people but immediately looks to her person or her doggie friends to see how they feel and follows their lead accordingly. Gracie is absolutely a follower and does lack confidence in herself, so having a dog in the home that is a good example for her is important. Gracie is in tune with her people’s emotions and energy, so for this reason, a calm and respectful household would be best for Gracie. She lives with two teenagers in foster and does well with them. We would prefer to see Gracie find a home without young children due to her lack of confidence. She will do just fine with older, respectful children. Gracie doesn’t mind being picked up, does well in the bath (she has not been to a groomer but can easily be groomed at home), and is content to accompany you on car rides once lifted into the car.
A fenced in yard would be ideal but is no longer required for her furever home. She is walking very nicely on leash, and looks to her person for reassurance and protection when she encounters something new, which is great. She is not reactive to people or dogs on walks, does not have prey drive and is always eager to go.
Gracie is still working on perfecting her potty training but is doing well with frequent potty breaks. Gracie follows routines nicely and while she would prefer not to be crated, she is crate trained. She has started commands but does get easily distracted.
This beautiful girl has a ton of promise and will make a wonderful companion for a family willing to give her time and patience at first while she settles in and learns her new routine. She absolutely has the best smile and always seems so proud of herself when she’s experienced something new alongside of her person. With just a bit of understanding and consistency, she’s gonna shine and be the apple of someone’s eye
