I’m a 1-year-old Chow Chow weighing in at 38 pounds of pure, lovable personality. I’m not your typical “cuddle on the couch” kind of guy—I prefer to lay on the floor, near you (but not too close). I’m a chill dude who likes affection, but I’m more of a “pet me and let me explore the world” kind of pup. I’m also super friendly, but I need a proper introduction to new people—once we’re friends, I’m all in! I’m a pretty easy-going guy, except for one little thing—I love being outside. If I’m outside, you’ll have to work a little to get me back inside. (Chasing me around the yard? Oh yeah, it’s a game!) But honestly, a little exercise is all I need to settle down. Sometimes I get the “crazy eyes” in the morning, and I just need to burn off some energy—don’t worry, I’m easy to calm down with a good walk or play session. Speaking of play, I’m a big fan of chewing bones, playing with toys, and chasing sticks or balls for a little while. I do tend to play rough, so if I’m going to live with another dog, they should be my size or bigger. I’m totally treat-motivated (who isn’t, right?), so training me is a breeze. I already know “sit,” “down,” “wait,” and I’ll even shake for treats! I’m also really polite at meal times, waiting for the okay before I dig in. I’m great with people, but I’m probably best suited for a home with kids over 10 because I can get a bit excited running around (I might knock them over, but not on purpose, I swear!). I’m potty trained and have never had an accident in the house—ever! I do bark a bit when new people come over or if I’m in my kennel, but I settle down quickly. I’m not a fan of cats—let’s just say, I have a bit of a high prey drive and like to chase them. But I’m great with dogs my size or bigger, and I’d love a playmate if you have one! I’m also pretty low-maintenance in terms of crate training; I’ll bark a little at first, but I settle down fast. No destructive behavior here—I’m a good boy and love to keep things nice and tidy. So if you're looking for a smart, strong-willed, and playful pup who loves the outdoors, is great with treats, and wants to keep your yard free of squirrels and rabbits, I’m your guy! I’m easy-going, ride well in the car, and I’ll sleep soundly by your bed all night. What more could you ask for? *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. *hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. This is legit haha, Rogue has escaped her crates and pens quite a lot and knows the ropes! Not been around many cats. BACKGROUND: Meet the great Rogue, this strong dog was found with her 3 puppies abandoned. But the obstacles she faced only made her stronger. She is a sturdy dog who knows her boundaries and works hard! She and her puppies demonstrate beginner herding and hunting dog skills, with training and time they would make great farm dogs. Hooti can't seem to stop havin' a hoot! This puppy is having the time of her life right now and can't wait to be adopted by a loving, caring, and fun-having family! Hooti was rescued by a very nice foster and is currently learning how to be the best puppy ever. She's working on crate and house training and doing okay in both. Hooti tends to be a screamer when she's in the crate and knows your about to let her out. Hooti tends to sleep through the night but might need a potty break. Hooti is your typical puppy who loves to play and chews on things, she loves playing hard with other dogs but might be a bit too much with littles and seniors. She tends to chase cats. She is a happy pup looking for someone to give her snuggles and play! She lets you know what a happy go lucky gal she is by her constant tail-wagging. Zarla is still working on potty training, she sometimes has accidents when excited.
