Story
Hi there! My name is Spongebob and I am a loving, fluffy, and handsome young adult. I am very friendly and get along well with other dogs, but I am even more affectionate with people! I enjoy meeting new friends and receiving plenty of pets and cuddles. I am athletic and love to play, but I am also gentle when I need to be. My silly antics will surely keep you entertained and I can be quite funny at times. I would make a great companion for someone looking for a furry friend that is both adventurous and cuddly. Spongebob was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2307981##

Blue Bear is a very loving puppy. It takes time for him to get to know you, but once he does, he will lay by your feet and just want to be rubbed on. He is very loyal and protective. He gets excited when meeting people for the first time. He loves being outdoors and patrolling for squirrels.

Such fluff! Very much a youngster, Barnaby is still developing his life skills and building on the positive experiences that will help his default to optimism with confronted with the unfamiliar, and the more fun he has where he feels safe, the easier this will get! Barnaby is also learning how to spend comfortable time alone when his family is unable to be home, and a flexible family, perhaps one with another dog friend, that can try a few different things and work up longer periods of time gradually will best set him up for success.Barnaby is available to families without children or children aged 10 years or older and without cats. Story
Ridley has been our sweet girl for 8 years now and we love her dearly, however we just had our first baby and Ridley has been unable to get used to the new situation. She’s a sweetie at heart but can get quite anxious about loud noises and other dogs. She loves adults however and is quite chill otherwise. She doesn’t need much exercise these days. We’ll miss her but we have to make this house 100% safe for our new baby.

Story
Midnight, named after her deep, dark, beautiful coat, is a 4-5 year old, female, fur bag mix. We suspect she could have some Chow Chow and possibly some Belgian Sheepdog. Midnight is an easy going girl. She’s dog friendly, knows some commands, walks well on an leash, and although she’s shy at first, she’s food driven which helps her warm up to strangers quickly. While she’s 67 lbs, she’s on the chunky side and could stand to lose 5-10 lbs. Midnight was adopted from MHCR as a younger pup. She recently lost her home due to the health and schedule of her prior owner. Since arriving into our care, we did notice she sometimes struggles with spay incontinence so she takes a daily medication now to prevent that from being a problem in her foster home. She is house trained. Don’t be deterred! She’s an amazing dog with a lot of love to give. Midnight is being fostered in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/briar-rose/. Story
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THIS DOG: Rosie is shy and fearful around humans and is bonded to Sammy. She requires patience, love, and guidance to help continue to show her how to properly dog and that the world is not as scary as it seems. Rosie is a very shy girl and is still feeling a little scared of humans. She does like to be pet and having her neck scratched. Her personality shows when she gets outside and argues with the squirrels but it takes a little while for her to get used to coming inside the house. Rosie has seen a lot in her life and has some trust issues with humans. She has never shown any aggression and will melt when she gets brushed or pet. Like her siblings, she will take some time adjusting to a new home and may never totally come out of her shell. She would be good in a home with a fenced yard or warm outside space and no cats. Rosie came into rescue with her two friends, who are also female chow mixes. All three were very scared of humans and refused to even be touched. Again, there was no aggression - but they would run away in fear if humans tried to approach. They have been fostered with our director's family for last couple of years while they have gone through a very slow introduction to the good side of humans. While they are now ready to find their forever homes, they do need adopters who are willing to take the time to win their trust and won't expect them to be going for walks around the neighborhood anytime soon. These girls can only go to homes with fully fenced backyards and very patient humans. These girls will not be attending our adoption events and will require meet and greets at the foster's home. ADOPTION FEE: $75 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event. Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications. We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend! All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.
