Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $800   The Pride puppies are a litter of 8 week old Chow Chows who are ready to take on the savannah with their forever homes! This litter of 5 boys came to DPS at only 2 weeks old with Mama Lioness. They have been fabulously raised by their canine mom and foster mom and are now ready to find their own herds. We expect these boys to be in the 50-60 pound range when they reach their adult weights and they are just as fluffy as can be! If you’re ready to find a little Simba of your own, come and meet our Pride!     Cheetah: Cheetah is the fluffiest heartbreaker of the boys who makes everyone fall in love with him! Cheetah is super confident and hasn’t met a toy or treat he hasn’t loved. He has such a sunny personality that brightens every room he enters and he leaves everyone wanting more once he zooms out. Cheetah knows just how adorable he is and he can’t wait to spread his love across his forever home.  Cougar: Cougar is the smallest of the boys but he has the biggest heart in the world! Cougar loves cuddling and frequently ditches wrestling practice to curl up in the lap of his foster mom and snooze the hours away. Cougar has that gorgeous dark red Chow coat and a tail so fluffy it could be a paintbrush! Cougar is a total Mama’s Boy and he can’t wait to be by your side for the rest of his life! If you’ve been wanting a weighted blanket who has hair that even a model would be jealous of, you’ll want to scoop Cougar up before someone else beats you to it!  Jaguar: Jaguar is the leader of the pack and the most outgoing of the brothers. He sets the daily agenda and is always down to try new things, whether snacks or toys. He loves zooming across the yard and chasing his own tail (you haven’t seen a cuter sight than a puffball trying to catch their fluffy tail). Jaguar is independent but also loves his humans and will always return to your side once he is done with his adventures. Just strap on his backpack and get ready to hit the trails!  Leopard: Leopard is the class clown and he keeps the energy up in his foster home with his goofy antics and adorable face. Leopard loves toys and he loves dragging huge plushies across the yard before his brothers can take them away. Leopard is on the calmer side of the litter but he is still an energetic puppy who will provide countless hours of entertainment and joy to his forever family. We know that Leopard will become the love of your life from the second you lay eyes on him.  Puma: Puma is an adorable teddy bear who will make you forget all about your life before him instantly! Puma loves his toys and is the king of dodging and weaving around his brothers during games of chase so he can keep the fluffy prize. Puma loves to explore and is most likely to sniff off on his own in the yard as the world grows exponentially by the day. Puma would love to explore the outdoors with his forever family, whether on a hike or a trip to the beach. Puma will catch attention wherever he goes, so be prepared for a famous furry friend!      The Pride puppies wake up around 6 AM and are given free access to kibble throughout the day to ensure they grow big and strong. They spend their days romping around the house, wrestling, cuddling in heart-melting puppy piles and just generally being the cutest puppies around! They have an endless supply of toys as they love to pounce and rastle with their stuffies. In the evening, they each get some one-on-one time and then head back into their pen to pile together for bed.  The Pride puppies have been well socialized with dogs of all sizes. The resident cat doesn’t like them but they want to be best friends! Socialization and continued training will be key for these puppies as Chows are loyal and dedicated pups for their families. We will be looking for homes to demonstrate their readiness for grooming as well. Ready to head to the safari? Adopt a Pride puppy today!      The Pride puppies are only an option for homes who have owned a dog of their own in the last 5 years. Kids should be over the age of 7 unless they currently live with a Chow. January 26, 2025, 10:51 am

Lioness arrived at our rescue with her 2 week old safari puppies. She was an amazing mom to her boys and now that they are grown up she is ready to find a forever home of her own. Lioness has a gorgeous fluffy coat, that classic black tongue, and an absolutely magnificent mane. Lioness is ready to hit the block with her new humans so come on down to the DPS Zoo today!       Lioness is your typical chow: loyal, playful and always happiest when she is with her people. She is energetic and fun-loving with her humans. She loves her plush toys and has a favorite racoon that she carries everywhere with her. Lioness is very smart and food motivated which has made training sessions a blast for everyone involved. She would love a bed near a large window so she can watch the world go by. Lioness is more on the quiet and laid back end of dogs but she does like to explore nature. She would be a great option for a home who likes to be in nature. With her gorgeous coat, she stands out anywhere she goes and she draws all the eyes in a crowd. Her dream home would also have a lot of room for her to play and run around in so she can live her best life.  Lioness wakes up and heads out on her morning potty walk. She comes inside for breakfast at 9 AM and then spends the remainder of her morning lounging around as she keeps an eye on her babies. She has lunch around 3 PM followed by another short walk. In the evening, she has dinner and then spends the rest of her evening lounging with her humans. She goes out for one more potty and then goes into her room for the night.   Lioness gets along with dogs and cats alike. She needs a slow introduction when she meets new people and they should be aware that they need to go at her pace. Chows are a very unique breed who require a home prepared for the training, socialization, and grooming requirements of the breed. We will be seeking homes who have Chow experience.      Lioness is only an option for homes with Chow experience. Kids should be over the age of 12. January 30, 2025, 7:31 pm

Story
story: Thank you for interested in adopting Buddy. Please know that Buddy is an international rescue. When your application is approved, you will need to pick him up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we've done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Buddy is not high in energy level and likes to take a slow walk, taking time to observe and sniff other things. When he was a puppy, he was small and weak and was bullied by his siblings. He gets nervous towards other dogs. He is not comfortable when the other dog tries to dominate and when the other dog has a young puppy energy so much that it can annoy others. However, once he becomes friendly with other dog, he gets along very well. He stayed in the shelter for a long time so he lacks socialization but he is gentle and careful once he decides to be a friend with the people and the dogs. Now, he is under socialization training. He has not met children yet but is generally calm and good with people. The foster believes buddy is calm and friendly with anyone and so can be with children. Buddy is nervous but stays calm in the crate. He behaves well when he is alone in home. He is under leash training. If he gets scared he just stops and refuses to move. When he gets scared during walks, he leans on the people next to him and depends on the person for protection. With something he has not eaten before, he doesn’t eat it right away. He rubs it on his body first. After he tries it one or two times, he doesn’t do it anymore. Lacking various experiences, he gets scared easily but is also good at overcoming them. If you’re interested in adopting Buddy, feel free to contact us for more info! Thank you.

Thank you for interested in adopting Chewy. Please know that Chewy is an international rescue. When your application is approved, you will need to pick him up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we‘ve done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Rescue story: The rescuer feeds some stray dogs far away from her home and she found a mama dog with 4 puppies. She was not able to help them but only could give them enough food to survive. One day, one of the puppies voluntarily came close to the rescuer and when she held the puppy, she found the puppy was covered by ticks and fleas and was in a very bad condition. The rescuer decided to find all of the dogs and was able to capture the mama dog and the rest 3 puppies. Chewy is very friendly with all dogs and is affectionate towards people. She likes to have close relationships with people. She loves taking walks and being outdoor. She is good on leash withouth pulling. At first, she pulled a little from being excited but now she is very good and follows the foster gently. She sometimes become stubborn at some points she wants to sniff but overall, she is very good on leash! She doesn’t have a guarding behavior and waits very well for her turn during the treat time. She is 100% outdoor potty trained and never made a mistake.

Story
**About Chico:** Thank you for interested in adopting Chico. Please know that Chico is an international rescue through South Korea. When your application is approved, you will need to pick her up from the airport - such as SFO, SEA, JFK, LAX, ONT, IAH, etc. International adoption is not a complicated process and we‘ve done the process many years. We would be happy to explain to you how the process works. Chico is affectionate and active but he is still a puppy that just began to learn that there are so many things he didn’t encounter yet. In doing so, he may look timid initially, but you will soon notice that he fundamentally enjoys meeting new people and being around them. He’s very gentle and has a trusting personality, making it easy to bond once trust is established. He is currently experiencing different environments and meeting various people to build confidence. Chico loves other dogs and gets along well with the one he currently lives with. When accompanied by his foster, Chico feels more confident and interacts comfortably with both people and dogs. Both Chico and Rita may appear timid in completely new environments, but they adapt quickly and get along well.
