If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application.Hi, I'm Smokey, a handsome Chow in need of a new home. I was transferred from another rescue who rescued me from a LA shelter and I'm grateful to be given a chance to find my forever home.My training is impeccable. I don't try to rush out of the gate and I sit and stay until given a command. I can pull a little bit when on leash, so I will need some work on my manners while walking.I need a home with no small children. Older children who know how to be respectful may be ok. I need to be the only dog in the home and will need an experienced dog owner knowledgeable about Chows. It's unknown how I'd do with cats.If you're looking for a friendly floof ball, fill out an online application to meet me.November 7, 2024, 11:05 am

Story
Breed: Chow DOB: 9/2016 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: long Size: medium Color(s): red/blond Description: Hi, I'm Paca, a shy, sweet Chow that was rescued after my owner passed away. My house sold quickly and was gated up. It's unknown if I escaped and couldn't be caught or someone turned me loose to fend for myself. Either way I was out on my own for two months in very hot weather. Thankfully someone down the street noticed me on my own and started giving me food/water daily. But even with her kindness, I wouldn't let anyone get too close to me. With the help of many people I was caught and now I'm waiting for my special someone to make me a part of their family. After being scared and on my own, my fur became matted and I needed to be shaved. As you can see my beautiful fur is already growing back. CARL volunteers are working on getting to know my likes/dislikes and helping me with leash training. I'm slowly learning to trust and come out of my shell. I love to be scratched on the head. I'm happy to explore my new world when I go out for my regular walking route. I have not been reactive to other dogs. I'm shy of strangers. A huge heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful people who helped rescue me and who donated towards my care. Story
Breed: Chow DOB: 7/9/2022 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: long Size: medium Color(s): black Description: Hi, I'm Nellie, an affectionate and loving Chow that loves to play with my 3 foster siblings. I still have my sassy Chow moments, but I am eager to learn and continue to grow into the amazing dog I am today. I came to CARL as a very fearful and not socialized puppy, but my foster family took the time to gain my trust and teach me new things, which has allowed me to flourish and become more sociable and outgoing, but I still am slightly nervous and reserved with new people. I will still definitely need continued socialization and structure/consistency to ensure I maintain my confidence and overcome my shyness and nervousness. The more I learn and trust, the less nervous I am. I am currently living with 3 other dogs, and we get along. I am definitely looking to be the alpha, which doesn't always agree with other alphas in the house. I am both crate trained at night and potty trained. I LOVE long walks and I've been doing good with a gentle leader, but I still have some room for improvement on my walks. My foster mom has been working with me and I'm improving daily. I am a little reserved with introductions to strangers, so it might take a little bit before I feel comfortable to come up to you. Please go slow and take your time when coming up to me. Once I get to know you, I become a loving girl who wants to play with my toys, roll around being silly and chase lizards, but I also love to curl up on the couch or be right at your feet, just as long as I'm close by. If you're ready and able to give me a lifetime of love and wonderful memories, please fill out an application to meet me.November 7, 2024, 11:05 am
