Story
Koby is a medium sizes chiweenie/terrier mix breed, weighing 25-30lbs. He’s is fully vaccinated and neutered. Koby has a happy, energetic, adventurous, and playful personality. He loves being around people, enjoys cuddles, and back scratches. He knows commands like “come”, “sit”, “lay down”, “no”, “wait”, “down”, “potty”. He does get anxious in car rides, and is not very social with other dogs. He may see them as a threat. He does get along well with a family members dog because we took the time to get them acclimated. Even though this is a challenge for him, with the right owner, I believe he could have a better experience socially. This is my hope for him! Due to recent changes in my lifestyle, I feel that it is best to find a loving home for him that can offer him patience and can help him have a more well rounded life!

Story
Nina and her sister Pinta were rescued from the dog pound. We believe these adorable girls are chihuahua/dachshund/pug mixes (the curly tails coming from the pug). Both girls have very soft fur. Nina has a bit of blue in one eye so there is something else in the mix. They are young, probably between one and two years of age. At 19 pounds, Nina is the larger of the two girls. Nina is very affectionate, sweet, and playful. She is a little shy but warms up quickly. She is a lapdog who loves pets and cuddles. She likes treats and will toss them around and play with them before she eats them. And we just found out that she loves snow! Nina would probably do best in a home with another small, playful dog who would be her friend and give her confidence. Nina is crate-trained but needs some more work with house and obedience training. Her new family should give her plenty of attention and playtime, take her on walks, and give her a lot of cuddles and affection. Nina must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. She must be walked on a leash and needs a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Nina is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. She is heartworm-negative and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Nina is available for adoption to approved in-state and out-of-state applicants. Her in-state adoption fee is $250, and her out-of-state adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to the Northeast and Pacific Northwest. Story
Pinta and her sister Nina were rescued from the dog pound. We believe they are chihuahua/dachshund/pug mixes (the curly tails come from the pug). Both girls have very soft fur and are young, probably between one and two years old. Pinta is smaller, weighing 16 pounds. The sisters occasionally get into squabbles, so we think it would be best if they went to separate homes. Pinta is very affectionate, sweet, and playful. She is more outgoing and active. Pinta is a definite lap dog and will nap on your lap or shoulder whenever you watch TV. She is very playful and loves her toys. We also just discovered she loves snow. Pinta is crate-trained but needs more work with house and obedience training. She is smart and is learning quickly. Pinta loves her people and can be an escape artist. She will not stay in her outdoor kennel because she wants to be in the house with you. She also cannot be left in the backyard when you leave because she will try to escape to follow you. Pinta must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. Pinta's new family should give her plenty of love, attention, and playtime. She must be walked on a leash and needs a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Pinta is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Pinta is positive with a low load of heartworms (we are happy to explain). She now receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. We are using the slow-kill treatment and she should test negative in 6 to 12 months. Pinta needs no special care for her heartworm treatment so she can be adopted to an approved applicant now. Pinta cannot travel on a transport to another state until she is heartworm-negative. Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you would like to adopt this adorable little girl. Story
Willie, a 2-year-old Chiweenie weighing 23 lbs, who is the perfect blend of sweet and laid-back. Willie enjoys lounging in his favorite chair, but his playful side comes out when he's wrestling and chasing Dolly, the younger resident dog. Initially shy, Willie has grown comfortable in his environment and loves being close to his people. He has a hearty appetite, gobbling up his food quickly, and has learned to sit for treats. Willie is smart and now fetches the ball with enthusiasm. He has adapted well to the household routine, experiencing only a few accidents and escape attempts early on. He loves sunbathing but prefers to be outside only if someone is nearby. Willie shows concern during thunderstorms, which might explain his past attempts to run. At night, Willie usually sleeps with his humans but sometimes retreats to his favorite chair. If you stir in the morning, he'll jump on the bed to gently nudge you. Willie is a wonderful companion who enjoys both playtime and relaxation, making him a perfect addition to any loving home. *Willie is Heartworm positive and is being treated currently. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDRThis little angel is Sugar Buns, she is a blue and tan dachshund with congenital alopecia! Sadly, she suffered an injury to her spine that left her paralyzed. After laser treatments and many other heartfelt efforts to try and help her, her family tearfully made the ultimate loving sacrifice and surrendered their beloved baby girl to ATDR so that she could receive the even more costly care she needed. Sugar Buns has been given stem cells and other specialized IVDD treatments at Safari Veterinary Care Center and in-house physical therapy there that appears to be having good results. See video posted below.  Sugar Buns is a sweet and loving girl who freely gives kisses to those she meets. She’s so deserving of having a normal life again where she can move around and enjoy life.  She now is able to walk albeit a little wobbly but she flies around the house and yard like she is the queen!  She uses the doggie door and mostly controls her bladder unless she can't quite get to the door or pad in time - but it isn't the end of the world.  She knows she needs to go outside she just doesn't always make it in time.  The kind of care she's received at Safari is very costly, but with the help of kind-hearted generous animal lovers like all of you ATDR is able to save precious pups life Sugar Buns. If you would like to help ATDR help this darling girl, please go to the Donate button on the left-hand side of this page or mail a check to ATDR’s address near the top of that column. No amount could ever be too little and anything would be greatly appreciated. ATDR thanks you in advance for being a part of Sugar Buns journey back to better mobility and health.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDR 3077Say hello to Bonnie! This cute little Chiweenie girl somehow found herself in a Central Texas shelter, but when ATDR was contacted, we immediately rushed to her rescue! She’s now safely tucked away in a comfortable foster home where it is reported that she is super friendly and has a smile on her face all the time! When she smiles, she shows her teeth and is absolutely adorable!  Her foster mom reports that she loves other dogs and cats but she doesn't trust strangers. If you have people in and out of your house, she would probably need to be crated or secured in a different room because she's extremely protective! Once she becomes comfortable with her person, she is super sweet to that person, but remains very afraid of strangers to her because of previous abuse she's suffered before coming into rescue. She acts like a young dog and is very athletic. She is a quiet pup unless she sees something new and then she will bark so apartment or condo living will not work for her or you. She is a lovely pet, but will need to be in the right home...children and/or multiple people coming and going would not be the right match for Bonnie. Bonnie adores snuggling with or without other pets in her foster mom’s lap and would stay there for hours if she could! If she goes to a forever home with another dog who is calm and playful sometimes (not a younger playful one), she would play with them. Bonnie uses pee pads consistently but her foster mom believes she would be easy to housebreak because she is very smart and loves to please.  This girl is a Houdini who easily climbs and jumps fences, so a forever home must have a 6-foot smooth on the inside fence (not chain link) because she will climb if given the opportunity.  She becomes terrified if you raise your voice and will dive over, through and under anything when she is scared. She has suffered some fairly significant abuse in her past so is very upset if you are upset. A gentle voice and praise works best with her. She is hyper alert and has a tendency to be a barker, so apartment or condo living is not advised. She may calm down and bark less as she feels more secure.  In summary, Bonnie must go to a home with very few visitors because she is extremely protective. She definitely would not do well in a home with children of any age or teenagers due to her tendency to become frightened at sudden movements and loud noises...she would bolt and could become feral in a minute! A quiet home where someone who works from home or is retired loves having a warm little pup in their lap would be perfect for her. She wants to be with her person if at all possible, but she is not super clingy.  If you’re an adult home looking for a little friend and companion to love and share quiet time with, please submit an adoption application for Bonnie Stein! She’ll warm your heart and lap in no time!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ATDR 3656 Say hello to Mya! Her foster mom reports that this cute girl is sassy, smart and happy! She uses the doggie door out to the yard she enjoys and sleeps in her crate at night. Mya gets along with the other dogs in her foster home but has a slightly dominant personality. She will need to go to a home where there are no alpha dogs to compete with her. She also barks when she gets excited so would not be good for apartment or condo living with shared walls. If you live in a house with a yard and you're looking for a great little dog to share the good things in life with, please submit an adoption application for Mya.
