Story
Nina and her sister Pinta were rescued from the dog pound. We believe these adorable girls are chihuahua/dachshund/pug mixes (the curly tails coming from the pug). Both girls have very soft fur. Nina has a bit of blue in one eye so there is something else in the mix. They are young, probably between one and two years of age. At 19 pounds, Nina is the larger of the two girls. Nina is very affectionate, sweet, and playful. She is a little shy but warms up quickly. She is a lapdog who loves pets and cuddles. She likes treats and will toss them around and play with them before she eats them. And we just found out that she loves snow! Nina would probably do best in a home with another small, playful dog to wrestle and play chase with. Nina is crate-trained but needs some more work with house and obedience training. Her new family should give her plenty of attention and playtime, take her on walks, and give her a lot of cuddles and affection. Nina must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. She must be walked on a leash and needs a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Nina is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. She is heartworm-negative and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Nina is available for adoption to approved in-state and out-of-state applicants. Her in-state adoption fee is $250, and her out-of-state adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to the Northeast and Pacific Northwest. Story
Pinta and her sister Nina were rescued from the dog pound. We believe they are chihuahua/dachshund/pug mixes (the curly tails come from the pug). Both girls have very soft fur and are young, probably between one and two years old. Pinta is smaller, weighing 16 pounds. The sisters occasionally get into squabbles, so we think it would be best if they went to separate homes. Pinta is very affectionate, sweet, and playful. She is more outgoing and active. Pinta is a definite lap dog and will nap on your lap or shoulder whenever you watch TV. She is very playful and loves her toys. We also just discovered she loves snow. Pinta is crate-trained but needs more work with house and obedience training. She is smart and is learning quickly. Pinta loves her people and can be an escape artist. She will not stay in her outdoor kennel because she wants to be in the house with you. She also cannot be left in the backyard when you leave because she will try to escape to follow you. Pinta must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. Pinta's new family should give her plenty of love, attention, and playtime. She must be walked on a leash and needs a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Pinta is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Pinta is positive with a low load of heartworms (we are happy to explain). She now receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. We are using the slow-kill treatment and she should test negative in 6 to 12 months. Pinta needs no special care for her heartworm treatment so she can be adopted to an approved applicant now. Pinta cannot travel on a transport to another state until she is heartworm-negative. Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you would like to adopt this adorable little girl. Story
This sweet pup was born on 12/12/24 and is the last of his littermates needing a loving home. Unfortunately, we need to rehome him due to a recent family health issue—my dad suffered a stroke, and caring for an energetic puppy has become too much alongside our senior dog. He’s extremely playful, full of energy, and loves to play with both people and other animals, including cats and dogs. He’s friendly, curious, and has a big heart in a small body. He deserves a home where he can get the time and attention he needs to thrive.

Selene was a rescue as a puppy. She is 9 years old and is very loving. She loves to lick ears and toes. Not the smartest dog. But very submissive. Needs a home where she can get the attention she deserves. She only knows a few commands like Sit, outside and crate.

Story
Hades is a rescue from downtown Houston. He was found in an aqueduct after a large storm. So, he is afraid of water and storms. He is around 11 years old but still acts like a pup. Doesn't require a lot. He like fetch with his foxy. He knows several commands. Sit, Laydown, Roll Over, Outside, Treat, Cookie, Cheese, Ride, Dance, and Snuggle. Loves rubs and scratches. Looking for someone who can pay him more attention in his later years. Only thing recently is he is more grumpy when trying to get him up from a bed.

Story
Est. DOB: 4/1/2023, male, neutered, chipped, currently 13 lbs, chi mix BenTen is a small chihuahua mix who is passive, loves human contact, and is motivated to please his human. He gets along well with other dogs, but will give a low growl if a large dog comes too close. When his human is away for any length of time, he is exuberant and pushy to get his attention. He has started playing with toys and especially loves the noisy ones! He has a timid personality, is scared of the doggie door, but is working on his potty skills. He was found running scared along a busy street with another small dog. It took well over an hour to catch them as they were barking, running scared in and out of traffic, but once they had a slip lead on, it was clear he wanted to be loved. He sleeps well in a kennel overnight, waits patiently for his food to be ready, and doesn't steal food from others. He is the sweetest most gentle little guy and can't wait to show you how much of a difference he can make in your life! Please consider making this gorgeous boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at :   Apply Now (almosthomepetrescue.org) $200 (including tax) adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed and size categorizations are estimates. If transporting out of state, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxesMarch 16, 2025, 3:29 pm

Story
Bobby was originally a stray. He has been with me for about a month. He's afraid of strangers and slow to warm up. Once he knows you though he's a very affectionate and sweet little dog. We are working on house training and he's just about got it down, but I can't promise that he won't have an accident. He is not good around big dogs but small dogs he makes friends with eventually. His favorite thing is sitting in your lap and snuggling or playing with his toys. He is really a sweetheart once he gets to know you.
