We rescued 17 dachshund and chiweenies in August. They had not been socialized, their owner died in the house. We are slowly working with these babies and the ones we feel are ready, we get fixed and find them homes. These babies will need a patient family who will work with getting them comfortable in a new house. They may be flight risks so will need to be monitored all the time. Some have been adopted already and have done well. They are not used to being petted, picked up or touched.They are not used to kids so slow introductions will be needed but we don’t see them not liking kids. They are such brave little ones that we are determined they will all eventually get new homes. Ranger is the tallest of the group, not sure what gene is in there! He likes to walk his ‘perimeter’ and bark at anyone who comes near. He likes to play although they aren’t sure how to. He has the little dog energy and would be great with any family. He is located in Tennessee but can be transported to you though Rescue Riders.

Story
Chloe is an amazing little pup who is about 5-6 years old and weighs 9 lbs. Chloe is a chiweenie mix, she has a long body and small head. She is not getting any bigger. This little girl is so sweet and just full of love. At first, she is a little timid and can be a bit scared. After a few days, she will start coming around and she is the funniest, cuddliest tiny baby you’ll meet. Chloe LOVES other dogs and would thrive with another dog in the house as she does lack confidence. She has been living with 3 other dogs and 2 cats in the home. She loves to cuddle with her fur-siblings if you’re not available to cuddle. She fears younger children as they can be loud and move fast. Children are okay if they’re calmer and understand patience with Chloe. Chloe LOVES her food and is very food and treat motivated. Chloe is pad/house trained and she is crate trained. She knows to jump on the couch or bed to cuddle, watch TV and sleep. At night she will put herself under your blankets as she gets cold quite easily. Her favorite spot to sleep above all else is in your neck. She will climb to the top of the couch or to your pillows and just curl up in the crook of your neck and fall asleep. She is not a big fan of leashes but can learn to walk on one. An ideal home for Chloe would be one with gentle children and somebody with patience (in the beginning) to allow Chloe time to decompress and come out of her shell. When she learns to trust you, she gets the zoomies and is one of the best dogs you’ll ever have. She is very loyal and loves her humans endlessly. Chloe is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and will have a health certificate from a veterinarian giving her a clean bill of health. Meet Daffy:  Daffy is a six month old (as of September 2024) dachshund/Chihuahua mix that weighs about 9 pounds. Daffy and her brother Dillon were found in the woods in a rural area of Mississippi. Daffy had a peanut butter jar stuck over her head when we saw her.  After five days we were finally successful in rescuing her and her brother. Daffy is now safe in rescue and being fostered in the Leola, PA area and would love to meet her forever family. Daffy is a super sweet little girl that is very playful and affectionate. She loves to be near her foster family and just chills on their laps. Daffy gets along well with her foster family's dogs. She is great on car rides and walks well on a leash! As a puppy, Daffy is doing great with potty-training and clicker training. Daffy is up-to-date on her puppy shots and spayed.  Meet Coco:  Coco is a 5-6 year old Chihuahua. Coco is “Ms.Independent”.  She enjoys belly rubs, laying in her bed and loves to eat. Coco lets you know how much she enjoys her meals with the funny sounds she makes when eating.  It is with a heavy heart that her current owner needs to rehe her after the death of her husband. They have a total of 4 dogs, she works full time and is not able to provide them all with the attention they require. Coco does well with other dogs but has not been around cats.  Coco is pee pad trained and if her person is outside with her in a fenced in yard she enjoys being outdoors so long as the weather is nice.She loves to snuggle, and is very “Velcro”. Meet Seth: Seth is about a 4 month old (as of November 2024) dachshund mix (best guess) that weighs about 15 pounds. Seth was rescued from a cat cage and taken to a shelter. We were able to get this sweet guy out of the shelter and into a foster home in the south. Seth would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Seth is very outgoing and loving. Seth is good with other dogs - both big and small. Seth is working on house training and crate training. We would love for Seth to have a fenced in yard to run and play freely, but it is not a requirement. Seth is up to date on his puppy shots and will be neutered when age appropriate.
