Story
Edna, our 8 year old 10 pound chiweenie, is a wall-flower. That can be a hard personality trait for a dog as most people (in our experience) want to say hello to every dog they see. It's especially difficult when a dog is as cute as Edna; that's a lot of attention for someone who wants to stay home and read a book. Edna is looking for a quiet place to call her own where no one expects her to party. Found stray, we were asked to take Edna in after it was discovered that she has epilepsy. We cleaned her teeth and got her started on anti-seizure medication (Keppra, taken 3 times a day; expected to cost less than 10 dollars a month with a GoodRX coupon). She is doing really well on the medication and hasn't had a seizure since we started. Edna will need this medication long term. Edna does well with other dogs and we expect she would be fine with dog savvy cats. She doesn't have a mean bone in her, but Edna is very timid. Once she gets to know someone, she asks for belly rubs and enjoys pets. Edna REALLY loves meal time and is very food motivated. She does not like loud noises or being picked up, so we recommend only older, quiet kids in her house. Edna is potty trained, not destructive, and can be trusted alone in the house. She is also crate trained but hasn't had to use one in her foster home. Edna is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm medication. It will likely take several months in Edna's new home before our little wallflower truly blossoms. Are you the patient person willing to give Edna the time she needs to overcome her shyness? Story
Darcy is a 1.5 year old, 13 pound Chihuahua with the biggest ears! She an absolutely sweet and adoring dog who loves her people, her food, and her cuddle time. She does the cutest little full body stretches on your leg grasping with her paws to ask for pets, and eagerly wants to nestle into her person's body for snuggles and belly rubs. Darcy is bonded with Eva - two sweet, playful sisters who have hearts full of love and looking for a home together! As young dogs, they are full of life and energy, always up for a game with other dogs. They get along great with their foster's resident dogs, and are respectful of the shy one who wants space. These girls are fast learners, especially with positive reinforcement and are very treat motivated! With new people and new dogs, Darcy feels a little more cautious than her sister, and is doing really well to feel more comfortable to make new friends when you go slow and there's lots of treats. Darcy and Eva's story began in Colima, Mexico, where they were found abandoned in a poor neighborhood. Alone and vulnerable, their future seemed uncertain—until a kind rescuer spotted them. Without hesitation, she stepped in and made a promise to give these two beautiful souls the chance they deserved. Now they've made their journey to the PNW, and are fostered in the Portland Metro Area. From their foster mom: I've fostered several bonded pairs now, and these girls have quickly become my favorite! They have such a wonderful relationship with each other, and equally are so excited to be the center of your attention. Darcy is more of the go-to snuggler, while Eva has more playfulness and will romp around with her toys while Darcy snoozes in your lap. They'll give you lots to chuckle about with their playful goofy antics, and so much love. Darcy and her sister Eva are getting used to their new life in the PNW, and are a little cautious when meeting new people and dogs. They've done well to adjust to meeting new people and a few dogs coming over when we went slow and brought out lots of treats! We know when they lived in Mexico they were very social so we know more warm welcomes will help them build confidence. In our home, they use our dog door to go potty outside, and do just fine when we leave the house for a few hours. They're making progress with leash training, pull a little bit, but as soon as you stop they look back at you and will quickly run back to you and look up when called! I'm really proud of how great they've adapted through such a big transition, and their cute sweaters are helping them get used to the cold. :P Underdogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Adoption fee for this pair is $490.00. Darcy & Eva are being fostered in the Portland Metro Area.  You MUST have an Underdogs Rock Rescue application on file to request a meet with an Underdog. An online Underdogs Rock adoption application can only be accessed at  https://underdogsrock.org/adopt-a-dog  . You must be available to meet an Underdog in their foster's location and dogs are not held for applicants or shipped outside of the Portland metro area. Story
Eva is a 1 year old, 12 pound Chihuahua! She is a cutie patootie that absolutely lovessss to play with toys, and must have a home that's going to spoil her with all the tiny stuffies for her to enjoy throughout the day and proudly carry around! She'll paw at you for pets, and then gaze into your eyes with the softest sweet eyes. Another favorite pastime is doing the most amazing zoomies around the yard leaving all the other dogs in the dust!  Eva is bonded with Darcy - two sweet, playful sisters who have hearts full of love and looking for a home together! As young dogs, they are full of life and energy, always up for a snuggles and love. They get along great with their foster's resident dogs, and are respectful of the shy one who wants space. These smart gals are fast learners and with positive reinforcement and force-free training they will continue to blossom! Even though they're bonded, they are ok when separated and appreciate some special individual time on walks & outings.
