Story
Shorty got his name from his short little stubby legs, and he’s every bit as adorable as you’d imagine. This sweet little Chihuahua spent his life as a breeder dog, so living in a home is still new to him—but he’s doing really well and making steady progress every day. Shorty gets along wonderfully with other dogs and truly needs another dog in the home to help him feel safe and confident. He knows how to use a doggy door to go outside to potty, though he may still have an occasional accident or choose to use a potty pad. Shorty recently had his eye removed due to a non-healing ulcer and also had a dental with several extractions. He has recovered well and is now ready to start his next chapter. Because he is still healing, we have not tried leash walking yet. He is kennel trained, very quiet, and not a barker. Shorty will allow you to pick him up if you gently corner him and say “stop” or “wait,” and he will sit with you for short periods, though he doesn’t yet come to you asking to be picked up. With patience, kindness, and routine, he continues to grow more comfortable each day. Shorty would do best in a calm, quiet home with another dog and a secure fenced yard. His journey is just beginning, and he’s looking for a loving home to continue helping him feel safe and loved. Adoption fee is $350 plus tax. Apply to adopt at CampCompanion.org 🐾

Meet Pepper 🌶️ Pepper is allegedly 9–10 years old, but someone forgot to tell him. This little Chihuahua mix zooms around the house like he’s late for an important meeting, pounces on toys with Olympic-level enthusiasm, and then immediately glues himself to your side like, “Cool, now we cuddle.” He wants to: *Sleep under the covers (non-negotiable), well he is kennel trained too. *Sit right next to you on the couch (also non-negotiable), under the covers *Follow you everywhere like your tiniest, sassiest shadow Pepper had a tough start — his beloved mom passed away, and he was very sad and confused. 💔 But since coming into rescue (all the way from Georgia to Minnesota for a savvy Chihuahua foster!), he’s blossomed into a happy, bouncy little goofball who finally feels safe again. Now, let’s be real: Pepper is a Chihuahua. That means he comes with a sprinkle of spice 🌶️ *He’s nervous around strangers and take a few days to warm up to new owners. *He prefers a calm, adult-only home (no kids) *He does best with people who understand and respect classic Chihuahua “I need a minute” vibes. 🐾 Meet Onix – A Gentle Soul Waiting to Bloom 🖤 Onix is a beautiful black mixed-breed pup with the softest heart and a truly sweet soul. He’s looking for a calm, patient home where he can continue to build confidence and learn that the world—and people—can be kind. Onix came into our rescue with his mom, Cinnamon, a 12-lb Chihuahua who has already been adopted. We’re guessing Onix’s dad may have been some kind of shepherd. Onix is very fearful of any new people but absolutely thrives when other dogs are around. Confident canine companions help him feel safe and encourage him to interact with humans, so a home with at least one friendly dog is a must. He’s a happy, easygoing pup who enjoys playtime and quiet companionship. Onix is shy but making great progress—he’s recently learned to walk on a leash, is house-trained, and kennel-trained. A securely fenced yard is highly recommended so he can feel safe while exploring. Onix won’t do well in a busy or chaotic household. Even though he is doing really well with his foster mom, he is scared of most strange humans right now, and would not do well in a home with children.
