Dexter is a 4-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund (chi-weenie) mix weighing approximately 26 pounds. He came to us when his owner died and he was being kept in a tiny cage. He is timid but has come a long way. He loves to play tug of war and he is very strong. He gets along with the other dogs but has not been cat or kid-tested. He is friendly and lovable when he gets to know you. His adoption donation is $250 which includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. He is heartworm-negative and on monthly prevention. Beanie is between 8-12 months ! Shes a happy go lucky ready to take on the world kind of girl. She isn’t laid back she’s just super happy and will lay in your lap while watching tv but she has the desire to play king of the mountain and get little happy wiggly zoomies. She loves to talk when she has an opinion and she identifies as a Whooing husky in these moments really getting her point across. It’s the funniest cutest little voice. She loves men! She loves children and she will knock a woman off her thrown and tell them she’s the princess ! But she loves women too she just knows how to make a man or a child adore her . I think it’s so cute to see her stomp her paw and whoo a grown man to make him get down on his knee to say hello. Beanie is a pound puppy. She found herself lost and picked up and turned over to a kill shelter at levy county animal services and the staff member brought little beanie to us at 10pm to get her safe and out of the system ! So she is loved right off the bat but you have to match her energy or she may become a frustrated little pup pup. She’s crate trained but not housebroke . She does believe it’s her castle so she needs some guidance on how to have those house manners. Patience and grace despite her care free personality she was still a pound puppy ! Kennedy is a unique and resilient pup who’s still figuring out how to trust. He’s had a rough start, but underneath his uncertainty is a dog who truly wants love—he just needs patience and the right approach. This guy is house-trained (no accidents here!) and crate-trained, settling in without complaint at night. He also does well in a playpen when left alone for short periods. He loves his toys, especially Nylabones and balls, but can be a little possessive with them. Kennedy enjoys being near his people - he follows them from room to room, wags his tail to show his feelings, and even gives kisses. He may ask for affection by bumping against you or jumping in your lap but then growl or nip when actually petted. Kennedy knows "come" and "sit", but treats (especially chicken!) help him stay engaged. He’s leash-reactive when it comes to putting it on or taking it off, especially around his neck, but once he’s walking, he does well - though 15 minutes is his max before he’s exhausted. He clearly has a history of being fed from the table and will wait at mealtime for a better offer- but don’t fall for it! Kennedy needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. His ideal home is one where: He can continue learning boundaries in a structured environment, touch and handling are approached with patience and care, he has a predictable routine and a safe space to retreat when needed, and he’s allowed to bond at his own pace - on his terms PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz.
