Story
HELLO! My name is MAVIS, and I'm a 3-month-old adorable puppy in need of a home. I was rescued from a California shelter. My paperwork says Basset Hound mix, but I could be a Dachshund mix, too. Whatever I am, I am super cute. What's more, I'm a sweet, sweet girl - I love people and other dogs, too! I currently weigh about 10 lbs. Can you adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
A message from her foster: Madonna's behavior wise she is awesome! She never barks, or whines. She gets along great with my other dogs. She likes to snuggle and loves playtime, squeaky toys, bully sticks, and lying in the sunshine. She is pretty good about doing her business outside but not 100 potty-trained. She is very low maintenance as far as puppy’s go! Be ready to adopt. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Please fill out our online application and our adoption counselor will reach out to you to discuss meeting your new family member. Chiweenies are most definitely good dogs. With proper care, love and attention, Chiweenies can also make wonderful companions and the best of friends.

Story
This little man has been through IT! We pulled him from a city shelter after we received a plea that he was attacked by another dog in the kennel and was in bad shape. He also lost his ear and it was severely infected. He has made a full recovery physically but he is sometimes head shy with new people so you have to take it slow with him and let him move at his pace. He is probably younger than he appears but had a hard life before being rescued. He is fine with other dogs and cats. He would also be happy as the only pet. Crate trained, working on house training, great on leash, not a barker.

Story
This little man is a heartbreaker. So sweet and calm, he’s the perfect companion for someone that is not too athletic and would prefer to have a calm energy dog. He was found as a stray, scared, hungry, dirty. Thankfully someone reached out to our friends at HOPE FOR PAWS and they jumped into action and got him to safety. He’s completely vetted, healthy, happy and ready for the next chapter…a forever home.

If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application. ***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application.Hi, I'm Canelo, a Chihuahua X who is in need of a new home as only one dog was allowed at the new home. I guess I drew the short straw. Thank you to my sponsor who made it possible for me to come into CARL's adoption program. I know they will help me find my forever home.I need time to get to know new people, until I do I can act like a tough guy. Once I know you I enjoy my walks and being with my people.I love treats, but small treats should be given from an open palm rather than from fingers. If I think I have found a treat and you try to take it away with your fingers I will bite hard. I have no issues when being given kibble, but treats are another story. However my former foster thinks with training I can improve in this area.I love to snuggle and get belly rubs, but at night I should sleep on my own doggie bed rather than with my human. A doggie bed in your bedroom is perfect. I love to burrow under a soft blanket when I sleep and a soft fluffy throw blanket works great.I love to play with and chase little stuffed toys and might even chase after a small ball.I want to always be near my person. I would snooze on my doggie bed and play with stuffed toys while my former foster worked from home. I also enjoyed going outside to lay in the warm sun for a bit.I am potty trained, but need to be reminded/encouraged to go outside. I respond to 'go potty'.The best household for me is with a female human and no other dogs. Although I do great at the dog park and I'm fine on walks, I want my person all to myself when at home. I might be fine with a couple if both are willing to consistently be involved in my feedings, walks and playtime.I would not be good with children because I will bite if I feel threatened or there is any competition for my human and the same is true for strangers. I don't care for a lot of commotion. My former foster's son had a party for friends and I was clearly unhappy. In the right environment (where I am top dog), I am very loving, sweet, playful, and snuggly. I love to walk and I do great on a leash. I am loyal and protective. I also enjoy car rides and going to the doggie park. I am crate trained but I will not like the crate if it is used for punishment or time outs. If I'm crated, be sure to include a small soft blanket for snuggling and burrowing. I did not bark excessively while in my former foster's home and my bark was not loud and ear piercing typical of smaller dogs.If you think you can provide the right environment for me to thrive in, please submit an online application to meet me.*Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.November 7, 2024, 11:05 am

Story
Breed: Chihuahua X DOB: 10/2021 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: small Color(s): tan/white Description: Hi, I'm Burtha, an energetic Chihuahua X rescued from a high kill shelter where I was found as a stray. I'm grateful to CARL for giving me the chance to find my forever home. I'm shy and unsure around new people, so I may need to get to know you over a few visits. Once I get to know you I love to be held and be with my person. Best home for me would be an adult only where I'd be showered with love and attention. I can get quite frisky, jumping on my long back legs. I need daily exercise. I enjoy my version of fetch and sometimes I will bring a toy back to be thrown again. I enjoy car rides too. I will try to dart out open doors at home, so care will need to be taken when opening doors and I am around. I enjoy burrowing under a blanket. I can jump higher than one may think to get onto a counter or table top. Care must be taken that I don't have access to things I shouldn't eat. I will sit and stay for a treat. I come when called unless there is something else I'd rather be doing. I need leash training. I also need to get used to being handled by more than one person. I tend to get attached to one person. If you think you can give me the life I deserve, please fill out an online application to meet me.December 31, 2024, 3:24 pm
