Story
9/1/22 is estimated birthday. Ginny and her sister Roxi were dumped in an orchard. They downy a week there in a storm with no shelter curled on a blanket. It took me 4.5 hours to catch them. They're were frightened off me as a stranger, but as soon as I got them home they thought I was their best friend. Ginny is very sweet and loves belly rubs. She is a very happy girl who bounces around with excitement. She likes to be on the couch and on my lap. She has been living with cats and doing well. I am not sure she is potty trained. We run like a bit of a shelter even though she is fostered in a home. She has kennel time, house time and yard time in a schedule because we have other foster dogs. Fixed and micrchipped.

Story
Meet Adorable Dasher, a charming Red Chiweenie mix who is ready to find his forever home! He is 11 months old and weighing in at 17 pounds, this little guy has a delightful dachshund face paired with long legs that make him unique. Dasher’s journey started in an orchard, where a kind-hearted person rescued him. When he arrived, he was very thin and struggling, having survived on olives. Thankfully, with a little TLC, he is now thriving! Handsome Dasher has quickly settled into life at the sanctuary, where he enjoys the comforts of a warm bed and plenty of love. He’s friendly with other dogs and loves to play, making him a great companion for any pet lover. He has learned to navigate the doggie door but will need some help with house training. Additionally, he could use some more leash training to help him stroll confidently on walks. Dasher is neutered and is currently vaccinated and microchipped, making him ready for adoption. If you’re looking to add an affectionate and playful friend to your family, Dasher is eager to make your house his new home. Story
Meet Wardy! ? This stunning boy has a story of resilience and hope. Wardy came to us from a local shelter, where he was heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list for being "fearful." However, Wardy has proven that labels can be deceiving—he’s far from fearful! In fact, he’s a social butterfly who adores meeting new people and quickly charms everyone with his sweet personality. Wardy is an outdoor enthusiast and absolutely loves going for walks, where he eagerly explores his surroundings. He’s also a perfect travel companion, riding calmly and happily in the car. When it comes to canine friendships, Wardy is a superstar! He’s incredibly dog-friendly and would make a wonderful second dog, whether your current pup is big or small. With his striking red brindle coat and unique long, low, and stocky build, Wardy is truly one of a kind. At just 14 pounds, he’s a compact little package of love and energy. At approximately 3 years old, Wardy is the perfect age—past the puppy phase but full of youthful enthusiasm. Wardy would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his zest for life. Despite his tough start, he’s embracing his second chance with enthusiasm. He’s currently working on house training and making great progress, thanks to his eagerness to please and food-motivated nature. We don’t know why Wardy ended up in the shelter, but what matters most is that he’s left that chapter behind. He’s ready to start a new life with a family who will love and commit to him forever. If you’re looking for a loyal, friendly, and energetic companion, Wardy is your guy! ? To begin the adoption process, please submit an application using the link below. Story
Meet Tia! This 4-year-old, 30-pound girl is as unique as she is charming, with a beautiful merle coat and a personality that will warm your heart. Tia is a sunshine-lover who delights in quiet, peaceful walks around the neighborhood and is happiest when she has a cozy spot to relax by your side. Tia’s initial shyness means she takes a little time to trust new people, but once she does, her love and loyalty know no bounds. Although a bit unsure on the leash at first, Tia is making steady progress with each walk, thanks to her dedicated foster family. She’s fully house-trained, and has a funny, endearing personality that will keep you smiling. In a prior home, she even lived with a dog-savvy cat. Tia would thrive with a patient, understanding adopter who can give her time to settle in and gain confidence. Ideally, she'd love a home with a confident and mellow, male dog friend who can show her the ropes. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who enjoys quiet days at home and just needs a little extra time to open up, Tia might be your perfect match! Story
To apply or see more of Ben, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/5/5/ben-1 Ben was rescued from a hoarding case in Modesto, where he lived with 86 other dogs. He is decompressing and is now ready to find a home, preferably with a dog friend or two! He also currently lives with a cat. A home with an enclosed yard would be ideal for Ben, but not necessarily required. He loves basking in the sun. From Ben’s previous foster: Ben has been opening up every day. He is now asking for pets and wanting to be close to cuddle. He is working on being comfortable when the humans are away but does well sleeping in his crate with a human or dog in the room. He does well with a kong as well. He is getting playful and allows full-body touch, but he doesn't love to be held just yet. However, he is comfortable being held with a blanket! Ben is an 18 lb dachshund mix (best guess) and described as sweet, affectionate, and playful, but may need some time to adjust to new environments due to his past experiences. Sponsored adoption donation (no fee!) includes neuter, rabies, dhpp, bordatella, flea tick treated, fecal tested/dewormed, and microchipped Currently in foster in San Francisco, CA. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Story
Alex is the cutest little sausage dog! Alex is estimated to be around 8 years old and is a sweet and sensitive guy looking for his fur-ever home. Alex is a mellow guy who enjoys the simple things in life like being cozy in front of the fireplace and eating tasty treats. He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he never wants to leave your side. Alex currently weighs about 12lbs. Alex came to us from a local shelter after his previous owner surrendered him with his buddy Bruno. We were told it was due to issues with the landlord. At first, we thought the boys were a bonded pair, but as we got to know them more, they seemed like they would be okay being separated. Bruno has been adopted, so now it's Alex's turn! Alex is the more outgoing of the two but is the more anxious one. While his buddy learned to enjoy walks, Alex is more of a stay-at-home type of guy. He has learned to be more comfortable being outside, but would much rather be inside and cozy if given the choice. He loves to cuddle and give kisses but is also able to chill on the couch while you get work done. He would make a great companion for a senior person or couple. He would thrive in a quiet home with people who can be patient with him and help him gain more confidence. Alex has done well living with other dogs and seems like he would enjoy having a mellow doggie buddy or buddies. Alex has done well living with cats and is great about ignoring them and giving them space. Alex previously lived with kids, but we think he would probably do best in an adult-only home due to his anxious personality. Alex's previous owner said he and Bruno were pee pad trained, but he has been doing well transitioning to pottying outside. Alex likely would do best in a home with a yard, maybe with a dog door, to make the transition to a new routine easier. Alex is used to being crated when his foster mom is gone and he sleeps through the night in his dog bed. Alex is so ready for a fresh start with his fur-ever family. If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Alex's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
Who's that girl? It's Stiletto! Stiletto is estimated to be about 1.5 years old and is little miss personality. She has legs for days and is a goofy girl who always finds a way to make you smile. She is the perfect mix of playful and sweet and can't wait to find her fur-ever family. Stiletto weighs about 8lbs, but is a little underweight and needs to gain more weight. Stiletto came to us from a local shelter after she was found wandering the streets as a stray. She was never claimed by an owner and was very stressed at the shelter with all the chaos. She has been thriving in foster care and has shown she is a mellow gal once away from the craziness. Stiletto is a true lovebug who loves cuddles and being with her people. She will never turn down an opportunity to snuggle up with her foster parents. She enjoys her daily walks and has just enough energy to encourage you to get out and about every day. She is very food-motivated and needs a family committed to continuing her training. She is a well-mannered girl but doesn't seem to have been taught basic commands yet. Stiletto loves other small dogs and became instant BFFs with her foster brother. She can sometimes get intimidated by large dogs but could do well with a slow introduction. We haven't seen Stiletto around cats, but she could do well with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Stiletto could do well with a family with kids 10 years and older. Stiletto has been doing very well with her housetraining, but her new family should be patient with her while she is adjusting to a new routine and environment and expect a few accidents at first. She has been doing well being crated and does well in her crate when home alone and overnight. Stiletto has mild luxating patellas in both knees. She hasn't shown to be in any pain and doesn't require any treatment at this time. She may need joint support as she ages but is a happy and healthy girl now. Stiletto is such a happy and loving girl and she deserves a family just as great as her. If you think that might just be you, submit an adoption application today!   Stiletto's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.
