Story
Oz aka chicken nugget is a pure bred American Akita full of spunk and energy. He gets along great with female dogs but not my old male that is the reason for rehoming him. We have six kids and he does excellent with them. He is 100 percent house and potty trained we do not have to put things up and he knows to go outside. He can sit shake and when not being stubborn lay down. He is scheduled to be neutered on the 9th and his rabies vaccine it’s all paid for but we would like to have him rehomed prior to this. He is not very socialized other than our family and the neighbors so he will need work on that. He’s an excellent watch dog and alerts when he sees someone.

Story
Bo will need a home that is super patient and willing to give him time to decompress. You will also have to come to the shelter more than once to visit with him. He is fine with our staff but takes time to warm up to ALL new people. He reacts ok to some dogs but MUST meet and new housemates. He was in a home prior to coming here, for a short time, and they said he would growl at their children from time to time (which is why they brought him to us). So we suggest NO children. Anyone interested in meeting him MUST come to the shelter and complete an application if you decide you would like to be considered. ***better photos will be posted soon Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Adopting a Chinook

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Chinook - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

You can adopt a Chinook at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost to adopt a Chinook is typically $50 to $300. This adoption fee often covers an initial exam, microchipping, spay/neuter, and vaccines. In contrast, buying a Chinook from a breeder can be prohibitively expensive. Depending on their breeding, they can cost $1,000 to $2,500.

The easiest way to adopt a Chinook is through a rescue that specializes in this rare breed. A great place to start is with a breed search on Adopt a Pet, which will show you all the available Chinooks in your search radius.
