He is working on housebreaking.  He usually keeps his kennel clean, but I am gone long days and some days it is just too long for him. He would not be a good fit in an apartment as he does tend to bark when in his kennel.  Hardy loves being with my dogs and is less anxious when they are around. He is good with my other dogs, but would need a very dog-savvy cat and he might like to chase. My fat cat ignores him and all is well with him. Due to his timidness, we would say older/considerate children only. If you are looking for a dog to lounge around on the couch with you, he would be the guy.To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org February 17, 2025, 11:15 pm

If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name ** Dorian has been diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. This is a disorder where the pituitary gland produces excess cortisol. This requires daily medication to keep regulated. This medication costs about $90 per month. He will also require testing every 6-12 months depending on the veterinarian, to make sure this is regulated. The testing costs about $145 each time. His next test will be due Aug 2025.  As a result of his Cushing's Disease he has an elevated liver enzyme. A daily medication is taken for this. However as his Cushing's Disease continues to regulate this should be able to be discontinued.   ** Dorian has been diagnosed with Mitral valve disease stage B2. Mitral valve disease occurs when the valve undergoes a degenerative change, thickens and becomes floppier. The cause is unknown but a genetic component is suspected. In stage B2 A murmur is heard and there is evidence of heart enlargement, but no signs of heart failure. Many dogs do not show any outward clinical signs (e.g., coughing, lethargy, inappetence) despite progressing to this stage, so it is important to have regular echocardiograms performed to catch it early. It is recommended that he have a follow up echo around 2/1/2026. He requires 2 daily medications for this, the monthly total is around $74 .   Dorian would love to find his forever family   Foster Home Feedback  2/5/2025 Foster Feedback: Dorian is a quiet, mature man! He doesn’t mind cats or dogs as long as they aren't in his face. He is potty pad trained but will go outside if grass is present. Dorian loves to eat and snuggle! We have stairs for him so he can get on the couch. He is on some medications but readily takes them in some wet food or pill pocket! Dorian is a very nice, easy dog to have!  To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org February 17, 2025, 11:15 pm

Dog is initially pretty timid of people, men in particular, and attempted some posturing behavior towards my resident dogs. After he was given a quiet place to decompress over the weekend, I introduced him to all five of my dogs one at a time and he had no problem at all.  During his first week with us he had zero desire to interact with my boyfriend, but after a few tasty treats were thrown in his direction went from outright avoidant to "you can look, but don't touch", to "I suppose we can nap together".  We have several resident cats that Dog showed very little interest in at first but will now chase one or two of them if encouraged (by the cat of course). Dog eats in his kennel and will sleep in the kennel at night without much of a fuss. We have let him sleep in our bed a couple of times since he is so fond of my electric blanket and has no issues as long as a cat doesn't step on him, and he's gone to the bathroom right before bed. I think Dog would be a great addition to almost any family, as long as respect for boundaries is maintained by any young children. Dog has shown no fear-based aggression, but due to his small size and apprehension for all things new, it would be best to make sure he is not pushed to nip in an attempt to regain a sense of safety. By letting Dog decide if he wanted to be pet, held, or exit his kennel, and not forcing anything, Dog fairly quickly became comfortable. Now, Dog dances when either of us come home, races around with our dogs, and is so excited the electric blanket gets turned on! 1/31/2023 Foster Feedback: Dog the Bounty Hunter is a cautious creature that would benefit from time to decompress and learn the lay of the land. He has been at my house for almost two months, and I feel like I’m getting to see what kind of dog he really is. He seems to pick one person to attach to and seeks them out. He will often bark if someone comes into the house or room. He loves to sit under a blanket on my legs and will sleep under the covers by my feet. He does well with my small dog and two cats. He seems to want to play but has a hard time reading cues from other animals. He is less interested in his kennel and hasn’t destroyed anything if left out. He is learning about potty training, and I suspect he will do better as it gets warmer.  Bounty is a sweet dog who is uncertain but wants to love. He will need time and patience as he moves into an adoptive home. When he is comfortable, he is funny, curious, and very fast!   1/31/2023 Foster Feedback: I have had Dog the Bounty Hunter for 10 days. Poor guy spent the first 2 days hiding under a blanket and wouldn't eat/drink/potty. He finally started to come out of his shell, but he was very selective on who he wanted to be around, which was me. He growled at anyone that came near me. He did let me pet him, pick him up, hand feed him, did great on walks.  Potty was challenging because it's been so cold, but did ok 75% of the time. He slept great in the kennel, no issues.  12/10/2022 Foster Feedback: Hi there, I’m Dog the Bounty Hunter! I am feeling a bit uncertain with all of the changes I’ve been through lately, but my foster mom said my personality is starting to shine through. I will need a family that can give me some time to adjust and feel confident. I live with a dog that is a little bigger than me and two cats and we get along just fine. I’m getting the hang of potty training and I am very comfortable in my kennel. Stay tuned for more updates, but if I sound like a good fit please fill out an application today! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org February 17, 2025, 11:15 pm
