Story
Meet Simone, the Gold Medalist of Love! Simone is a 5-year-old Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix who’s ready to tumble her way into your heart! Much like her namesake, Simone Biles, this pint-sized gymnast has a spirited personality and impressive agility. But instead of leaping for Olympic gold, Simone’s ultimate goal is a forever home with loving humans who can help her stick the landing in life. While she is a “flight risk” when she feels uncertain (her escape artist skills are medal-worthy), with the right environment—a calm, secure home, preferably with a fully fenced yard—this tiny dynamo transforms into a devoted couch gymnast who loves to nap on or beside her favorite people. Be warned—if she does manage to escape, catching her could turn into a full-fledged marathon event! Simone has a sensitive side, too. She thrives in a tranquil environment where she can build trust and feel secure. She may experience some separation anxiety, so she’d love a home where her humans are around often and, even better, where she also has a canine companion to keep her company. Simone’s not afraid to let you know how she’s feeling, occasionally using her voice to share her excitement. While it may take some time to warm up, once she’s bonded with you, her favorite sport is cuddling—and she’s a champion at it! If you’re looking for a spirited yet sweet teammate to join your home, Simone might just be your perfect match. She’s eager to find her forever family, and with your love and patience, she’ll shine brighter than an Olympic flame. Could Simone be the star you’ve been searching for? Come meet her today!

Story
Meet Luna (aka Pound Cake, aka Loony Toons, aka Big Tuna), an approximately 9 year old chihuahua mix. Luna was surrendered in Charlotte by her owners due to a move. She struggled a lot in the shelter environment, defensive and too scared to let staff touch her. She was sprung from the shelter by a volunteer and within hours, she relaxed into her cuddly, attention-loving self. After some R&R in foster care, Luna is now ready to find her forever home! Luna is confident, affectionate, reliable, and an excellent companion. This gal has all the basics down - house trained, crate trained, good in the car, and great on a leash. Luna loves nothing more than a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood (she's been known to keep on trucking for up to 3 miles at a time if you let her) followed by a nap on the couch. Luna would do well as your one-and-only or as part of a pack. She's done well meeting other dogs (especially her size or smaller) and mostly carries on with her business - she's an independent lady! She tends to ignore the cats she's met. Although she hasn't met kids yet, Luna would probably prefer older, gentle kids who understand her age, boundaries, and need for a bit of extra care. Luna is a bit overweight at 18 pounds and will need help from her new family to get back to a healthy weight to ensure her golden years are her best yet. We're having her cloudy eye evaluated by a vet, but it doesn't seem to affect her vision. She can also be a bit standoffish with new people and fearful of being picked up, and would appreciate adopters who understand that time is needed to earn her trust. If you're ready for a short-n-sweet nugget of a buddy, Miss Luna is the lady for you! Apply to meet her today.
