Story
Meet Chico! Chico is a 6-7 year old little guy who was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him. Chico is a reserved fellow until he decides that he trusts you. He is fairly independent. He wouldn't do well with young children. He is happy sleeping in his favorite bed just knowing you are around. Chico does well with other dogs and cats. Chico does not care for leash walking but can be trained. He tolerates car rides OK. He is doing well with re-housebreaking as long as he’s let out every five hours or so. Chico prefers soft food. He enjoys Pepperoni treats! Chico had a bad habit in his previous home of barking and running after people who are leaving. He has not done this in his foster home. Chico is not crate trained as he behaves well in the home. He has ridden in a crate in the car and goes fine. Chico loves to sleep deep under the bed covers. He will sleep out on the sofa as well. Chico is a quiet fellow and will make an excellent chill companion! Chico is neutered, HW negative, vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting him our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Meet Peanut Peanut is an older fellow (11 years) but pretty spry and full of life! He is a Velcro dog that loves to be with his person, which is pretty much anyone who gives him attention. He is friendly towards strangers. Peanut needs to be fed soft food ( doing well in Science diet sensitive skin and stomach) and he loves small bits of Pupperoni for a treat. He is a homebody who would prefer to walk around in a fenced yard but will walk on leash if needed. He is doing well with re-housebreaking as long as he’s let out every 5 hours or so. Peanut enjoys car rides too! He will sleep in bed with you or out on the sofa. He has not been crate trained as he does fine when free. Peanut does well with cats and other dogs as long as they respect his space. His only negative trait is fear of thunderstorms. He will run off if scared. He trembles and shakes until the storms pass. Overall Peanut will make a great companion! He is smart and engaged. Peanut is vaccinated, HW negative, neutered and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting Peanut our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Meet McPeachy !! This guy is a real character. He’s a very active, fun and high energy little guy. He is ready for an active family to entertain him. Mcpeachy is a Male, 9 month old, Chihuahua mix. He may have some whippet mixed in which would explain his energy level. He weighs 13 pounds and is full grown. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He is Heartworm negative. Mcpeachy is a whole lot of puppy in a small package. He is full of life and always ready to go. He loves playing with other dogs and a playful hyper companion would be wonderful for him. He is a social and happy guy. He loves everyone. He’s not your typical chihuahua in that respect. He’s outgoing and down for any adventure. Mcpeachy gets along with and loves all other dogs. He doesn’t care if they are big or small. He is hyper so make sure your dogs are ready for an in your face playmate. He hasn’t met any cats yet. He would likely try to play with them and I doubt they would like that. A bold playful cat that stands its ground might be okay. He loves everyone including kids however he is still very much a puppy. He’s hyper and has a tendency to play bite on hands. We’ve been working on it but it’s definitely a habit for him. He’s is also very bouncy and jumps all over people. His wild tendencies are likely too much for smaller kids although it’s nothing aggressive. Kids a bit older would be fun companions for him. Mcpeachy does have a fairly high energy level and needs a place to run and play all day. He does like to cuddle for a few minutes here and there when he’s tired but is not at all a “lap dog”. He is always on the go and moving around. We were surprised the first time he actually took a quick nap lol. He’s a lot of energy and likely will be lifelong. If you’re not prepared for a wild and crazy guy then he’s not the one for you. He definitely needs a fenced yard to run in. He did well on car rides. He has done wonderful with potty training. He’s crate trained and doesn’t protest to much if he’s had enough exercise prior to going in. He’s done well sleeping in the crate overnight. He’s pretty good at leash walking. He’s had no trouble sharing his dog food treats and toys with other dogs and people. This fun little puppy was adopted twice from the shelter and returned prior to our rescue taking him in. Please understand that we are telling you up front that he’s a lot. He’s hyper and wild and constantly playing. He is on the go constantly. He’s a wonderful puppy for a family looking for a very active dog. Please don’t adopt him unless you truly can provide the right type of home for him. Mcpeachy is high on life and ready for all the adventures. If you’re looking for a fun active dog in a small package then he may be the one! **Due to his need to run he will need a fenced yard. He is tall and lanky for his size so 4ft or above so he doesn’t get out. Vet and home checks required. Fenced yard required. 4ft or higher Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application. ‼️

Story
Meet Dakota! She came to us when her owner passed away and the family could not keep her. She is a 4-year-old, spayed Chihuahua mix that weighs 16lbs. Dakota does well with cats (especially kittens) and dogs; we have not tested her with children. This is what her foster has to say about her: Dakota is the best cuddler. She has been through a lot in her short life and gets nervous when things change. She is playful, she likes playing with dogs but kittens are her favorite! She does not like being crated; she does fine out alone. Whoever adopts her will have a great new little family member! Remember, adopting a dog means committing to them for life. You will also need to give her time to adjust to her new home and its expectations. If you're interested in adopting Dakota, please don't call. Instead, complete an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We carefully review the care history of past and current pets. Our goal is to find the very best homes for all our dogs and cats, so we reserve the right to approve or deny applications based on what's best for the pets. #dogsareworthit #adoptdontshop #chimix #rescueisthebestbreed #lovedogs #dogs #dogsareacommittment

Story
This boy is a gem! He's absolutely perfect, a real turnkey dog. Fostered in Vero Beach, FL, small enough to fit easily into a bag for in-cabin flying. Enrique is a 7 year old, 7 lb male Chihuahua. He’s tiny but mighty, and a lil bit stocky. This super sweet social butterfly boy is an easy keeper and steals the heart of everyone he meets Enrique gets along with dogs of all sizes, cats and has never met a stranger. He is playful and affectionate with other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion but people are his PASSION! We have not seen him around children so perhaps older children would be best with his tiny size. His favorite place is in your lap or snuggled up in your neck. Enrique is fully vetted, even bloodwork and a dental with 15 teeth removed, ouch. Enrique is great in the car and on a leash. He is truly a dog that you can easily take anywhere and even housetrained. He does need help getting into the bed so will bark to let you know he wants up. Snuggling, snoozing and snacking are Rique’s favorite pastimes, and he loves a little play time. He is content to stay in bed or explore the town. Enrique is fostered in Vero Beach, and his fee is $350. Visit www.nakedkissesdogrescue.org to read our policies and to apply.    December 18, 2024, 4:21 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Rosalee, a vibrant Chi mix with a unique coat of red, black, white, and even some cool-looking blonde patches. I’m a spry little lady at just 1 year old and a light 17lbs. I’m spayed, up to date on all my vaccinations, and heartworm negative. I’m a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and children. I have spina bifida, which means I can’t be potty trained, but that doesn’t stop me from running and jumping joyfully. I’ve also had surgery for a luxating patella and have recovered beautifully, completing all my physical therapy like a champ. I’m looking for a family that will embrace my energetic spirit and my special needs with open arms. If you’re looking for a companion who’s full of life and love, I might just be the perfect addition to your home. Let’s make every day together a beautiful adventure! I am being fostered in Hampton, VA but can be transported to nearby areas for a well-fitting and supportive home. You must be 21 or older to apply. Fill out an application today if you think we might be a match!

This young, male pup is friendly, affectionate, gentle and quiet, and is looking for a forever home where he can be the center of attention. Despite his youth, Holt is a very wise and calm dog and will be a great companion for an animal lover who is looking for a lovely pet. Holt came to us from a NC shelter after his owner passed away. He lived with several other small dogs, and has been kind to the others in rescue. He's in good health - already neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He tested negative for heart worms and has lovely teeth befitting a dog 1-2 years of age. If you're ready to open your heart and your home to this sweetheart, please get in touch. He's waiting to meet you! Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application.
