He cameto K Kids with his family and all his mom/sisters have all gone to foster to adopt homes but he’s still here. We are now calling Allen Chaps because of the unique pattern on his backside . Chap was living with 5 dogs and 3 cats in a motel room. Here’s what you need to know: He’s about 10 pounds, under 2 years old, a big fan of helping me work (as you can see from the photos), good with other dogs, has lived with cats, and is just a friendly guy. He does pretty well with his housebreaking, but he does mark a little bit because he’s not neutered yet. Chap is a good resource guarder with his dog food. He needs to be fed in a crate or somewhere he can’t growl and snarl at anyone else trying to eat in peace. Speaking of food, Chaps is hilariously proper at taking food off of human utensils—-he eats very well off of a spoon and a fork. Bean has some preferences for his forever home. He wants to be the only dog. No men, cats, or people with hats! (He’s going to write a Dr. Seuss book for little neurotic dogs ). Kids are weird and must be barked at endlessly, so probably he doesn’t want to live with any of those, either. Bean’s foster mom reports that Bean would happily stay under the covers in bed for days at a time. Bean is 5-6 years old and about 6 pounds. He’s a very sweet boy (if you aren’t any of the things he hates that are clearly outlined above ) . He is happy-go-lucky, he is extremely smart and is eager to please his human. He is about 8-10 years old and 13lbs. Chico loves to cuddle with his person. He knows sit, come, back, find “whatever you ask him”. Chico is house trained and crate trained. He recently had a dental. Chico is a good eater. He is polite and loves meeting new people. Chico was an only dog in his original setting, walked into his multi dog foster home and immediately became the cruise director. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes. His favorite foster sibling are the pretty larger females! Chico is crate trained and house trained. He sleeps with his foster mom or in his open crate – his choice. Chico loves lap time. The best home for Chico will have a secure fence. Kids over 10 and with excellent doggy manners would be okay. Another well temperamented dog would be fabulous. Willow is timid and cautious girl with elf like ears. She is about 15 lbs and is believed to be a chihuahua mix. Since Willow was found as a stray, her age is unknown, but she estimated to be around 4 years old. Due to her cautious and submissive behavior, Willow will need a patient and understanding family as she learns to trust people. Willow dances while waiting for her meals, sleeps in a crate at night, is potty trained, loves to snuggle, and is a calm and low key girl. She has little interest in playing with toys and is unsure and nervous about walking on a leash. It would be best if she has a fenced in backyard for safety. Willow is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and micro chipped. If you would like to discuss Willow further, fill out an application. Once the application is review, her foster person will reach out to you. Willow is currently fostered in Madison, AL with 2 others dogs and 2 cats. Since she is a shy and timid dog, young children may not be a good fit for Willow.

Meet Tanner! Tanner is a nine-month-old Chihuahua mix with a fun, spunky personality and just the right amount of attitude. At around 24 pounds, he’s a little bigger than a typical Chi but still has all the charm. He can be a bit jumpy with new people and unfamiliar noises, and he may bark at first, but once he figures you out, he’s happy to settle in and curl up in your lap. Treats help speed up the process—once he knows you have snacks, he’s much more willing to be friends. He’s crate trained, house trained, and does great when left alone, happily hanging out in a gated area when his people aren’t home. He loves to go for walks and enjoys meeting people and dogs along the way, though he can get excited and pull a little. His favorite thing in the world is playing fetch. He will chase a ball over and over again, but beyond that, he isn’t too interested in other toys. Tanner would do best in a home with someone who understands the independent yet affectionate nature of Chihuahuas. He has done well with small dogs and could likely live with a confident, easygoing dog who lets him warm up at his own pace. He hasn’t been tested with cats, and while he can be a bit uncertain around kids, he does well with those who approach him calmly and have treats to win him over. For someone who appreciates a dog with a little personality and a lot of love to give, Tanner will make a wonderful companion. He just needs the right person to help him feel safe and let his playful, affectionate side shine. Oh, Nyx....where do I begin. This girl is a special one! She came to us when our vet asked us to take in a special needs puppy. Nyx was born with hydrocephalus and the breeder didn't want her so she surrendered Nyx to our vet. Her hydrocephalus doesn't affect her health in any way now but we believe it has affected her personality. Nyx is a very special girl who will need a VERY special adopter. One who is patient and calm and willing to accept Nyx for who she is! Nyx wants affection on her terms but will run from you if you try to pick her up. You have to go low and slow so she won't run from you. Nyx will HAVE to have a fenced in yard for that very reason - if she got out you probably wouldn't get her to come back to you. Nyx likes other dogs but doesn't really know how to play with them and can mean to them when she's just trying to get them to play. We think all of her quirks are a direct result of her hydrocephalus. She can be so loving, but she is definitely a quirky one! Nyx will do best with older children or a quiet household.
