Story
Cookie is estimated to be 8 years old and weighs 10-12 lbs. She is a rescue from Korea and is being fostered in Haymarket, VA. Cookie has not had many interactions with people during her long shelter years in Korea, therefore she is a bit skittish. However, in the right environment, she can blossom. Please know that even though she can be playful at times, she tends to hide in the house. We would not want a home with small kids. She loves going for walks so we would really like someone who can do multiple walks during the day. (Long and short) Fenced in yard is a must for her. We think she would be best as an only dog to receive all attention or another dog with gentle, calm demeanor. She is a sweetheart with skittish temperament, and we would love to find the right home for her. All our adoptions come with 2-week trial. If interested, please submit an application for us to review. Www.nmser.org

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Margarita! Margarita is about 3 years old and weighs about 15 lbs. We think she is a Chihuahua Mix (just a guess). Margarita came to us from a hoarding situation where she was living in filth along with 40 other dogs. Margarita is very shy and unsure of life in her foster home right now, but she is getting better slowly. Margarita is doing well walking on leash and learning what is means to be a companion to her foster family. Margarita is working on house training and right now she enjoys just chilling in her dog bed in a puppy pen. Margarita is great with other dogs, but she is not a playmate. Margarita is used to being around dogs and will require another dog in her forever home as a companion. As of right now, Margarita would do best in a home that is calm and quiet all adult home. She will require a consistent schedule so will need a home where someone is around a good portion of the day. Margarita is spayed, she is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $375.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Meet Manolo! Manolo is about 12 weeks old and about 10 lbs and came to us from Puerto Rico. Our best guess on his breed mix is a Chi/Terrier mix. We have no idea how big this puppy will be full grown Manolo is a very sweet boy who is a bit shy at first, but does warm up quickly. Manolo loves to play with the resident dog in his foster home and will require another young dog in his forever home to help him build his confidence. Manolo enjoys playing with squeaky toys and wearing sweaters to keep him warm - lol. Manolo also enjoys going for walks:) Manolo is working on his house and crate training. Manolo is Baby puppies will require the adopter to be at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be neutered at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. A refundable spay/neuter deposit will be added to the adoption fee for puppies and kittens. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! Story
This is Peanut. Peanut is a neutered male Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix, he weighs approximately 10 pounds, up to date with his shots and he is about a year old. He is about 50% house trained. He knows to go potty outside, he's just not sure how to ask to go outside yet, so he will need a little patience and training. Peanut had a family who had an autistic son. As the son got older, it wasn't working out to have a dog. So, peanut was dropped off at the shelter. Peanut is a very affectionate little guy. He loves to be around people getting pets and love. Peanut does well with other dogs and he loves to play. He's not crazy about pit bull breeds, but he does great with all other breeds. I don't think Peanut has ever been around cats, but I think he would do well with them. Peanut would also do well as an only dog. As far as children, he would do best around older kids (8 years & older)Peanut loves long walks, hiking and he just learned how to swim this week! He LOVES swimming now. He loves to eat, he is very food motivated which makes it easy to train him. If you think Peanut would be a good fit for you, fill out the application form on Fancy Cat's Website and we will contact you for a meet and greet. Peanut can't wait to meet you.  __________________________________________________ This dog's adoption fee is $525. Story
Noa is starting to explore more. She loves to be outside and sit in the sun. Noa is house and crate trained. She also gets along with other dogs. Noa came to AFH from one of our rescue partners.  They were called by a Sheriff's Department in Florida to assist with a hoarding case involving '50 to 100' Chihuahuas.  When they arrived, there were over 200!  They were all living in a filthy home surrounded by trash and feces. There was no running water or electricity.  Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 16, 2024, 7:47 pm
