Story
Milk is three years old, compact, quick, and absolutely not decorative.Yes, he’s small. No, he's not inert. Milk is the kind of dog who treats vertical space as a suggestion. Chairs, laps, shoulders, the back of the couch -- if it exists, he's evaluating its climbability. Watching him move is like watching a tiny white monkey test gravity with confidence. When Milk first arrived, he was anxious and on high alert, trying very hard to manage a world that felt much too big. But once he figures out you’re safe, that vigilance turns into a spark. Out comes the playful, curious, slightly mischievous little guy who wants to explore, engage, and be part of whatever is happening.Milk is affectionate, but in motion. He shows love by following you, climbing near you, ON you, inserting himself cheerfully into your business. He wants a person who understands that small dogs still need outlets, stimulation, and permission to be their full selves. A home that laughs when he scales furniture instead of pushing him off.He would thrive with someone who appreciates personality and style, who delights in energy and a very special aesthetic, and who understands that “tiny” doesn’t mean sedentary. Milk is ready for a home that matches his curiosity and joy.Come meet Milk. He’s small, fast, funny, and endlessly endearing.Visiting hours are daily, including weekends and holidays, from 9am to noon. Animal Aid Society is located at 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Firefly’s world is dark. She cannot see.And yet, she radiates a light that reminds you to hope - a gentle glow you follow back to joy.Firefly is an 11-year-old Chihuahua who moves through life with quiet confidence and grace. According to our veterinarian, she has likely been blind for quite some time. You’d never know it watching her. She learns her way around quickly. She remembers where things are. She listens closely. “Up” means she’s about to be picked up. “Touch” means cuddles - and that word makes her tiny tail whirl like a helicopter. She loves to explore. She loves walking in the grass, sniffing the new sniffs, figuring things out for herself. She loves a good meal and a warm lap at the end of the day. She doesn’t complain. If she gets stuck in a corner, she makes the faintest mumble-grumble, then patiently works her way out. When she does, she pauses for a moment, looking quietly pleased, as if to say, "I’ve got this."Firefly was found walking down the middle of a road. A Good Samaritan brought her to safety. Her microchip told part of the story: her original owner had passed away, and she had been rehomed. How she ended up alone and in such rough shape, blind and toothless, we may never know. What we do know is that she was loved for most of her life. And she knows how to love back. And she knows how to eat. After “touch,” her favorite word is “yummies.” Firefly has a healthy appetite and a deep appreciation for comfort.Firefly adores other friendly pets, both dogs and cats. She thrives with gentle people who let her explore the world at her own pace, then welcome her back with soft hands and warm snuggles.Firefly doesn’t need much. But she gives everything. She glows. If you’re looking to start the New Year with something bright, steady, and quietly extraordinary, Firefly is ready to light your way.Firefly is IN FOSTER.To meet her, please call 757-865-0511 or email contact@animalaidsociety.orgInterested? Story
Dakota is a handsome enigma to us. He came to us with his mom and his dad - and he looks like neither one of them! His dad is Milk - who is tiny and all white - and his mom is Honey - a tiny brown ball of love. Dakota is much taller than either of them and has a very debonair look about him.But in Dakota's case, his handsomeness is equally matched by his silliness and playfulness! He has a quiet confidence that almost makes him the Mayor of Panda's Place. He always makes sure everyone is where they should be and tries to keep the barking of others to a minimum - never an easy task! For as silly as Dakota can be, a fun fact about Dakota is that he also loves to snuggle. And to snuggle with a chihuahua is to get instant therapy for free. They trust you to take care of them and look at you like you are their fiercest protector.Dakota is two-years-old and weighs a whopping 9lbs. He loved being with his mom but sometimes his dad was a little cranky with him.Come meet this little boy - he can make your day just by climbing into your lap, it's that simple! Dakota is available to meet every single day from 9am-12pm!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Meet Priscilla !! This girl 100% catfished us!! She was this shy and shut down little thing at the shelter. Left there still full of milk from her puppies that were sold or given away right before she was given to the shelter. So how did she catfish us? Well, as soon as she got into her foster home that shy scared dog decided she was safe and became a bundle of high jumping, couch climbing, zooming around the yard energetic wild child. A wide open and fun loving girl!!! Such a difference from the shelter! Priscilla is an approx 1 year-old, female, mix breed. The shelter had her listed as Chihuahua but with those long legs and her personality we think maybe some Italian Greyhound or Whippet mixed in. She’s 15 pounds and full grown. She will be vaccinated, microchipped and spayed as part of her adoption. She is thankfully Heartworm negative. She did really good with her nail trim. This playful girl is so sweet and just wants all the love and attention from her people. She can be shy at first but that disappears very quickly and you get a bold, outgoing playmate. She’s a lot of energy but also very sweet and fairly easy to have around. Priscilla is doing really good with all of her training. She is crate training and will sleep in there overnight or during a full work day. She can be a little whiny if she knows your home and wants out. She rides great in the car but can move around a lot so a crate or car seat harness is recommended. She is okay with leash walking but does pull a lot. She has been very good with her potty training. She has been fantastic with all the other dogs she’s met. She’s been around big, small, old and playful dogs. She can be a lot of bouncy movement so other dogs would need to be tolerant of that. We do not know how she would do with cats. Priscilla has been fostered with kids and does great. She’s happy playful and fun. She does need to be given just a day or so to warm up to new people. As long as your kids can do that she will do well. She has no trouble with a hyper playful household environment once she knows everyone is safe. She does jump on everyone including kids but is fairly gentle. She really enjoys being near and on her person. She has no trouble pushing her love on you. She is constantly jumping up on your side trying to get your attention. She is starting to learn not to but definitely has a long way to go to understand not to do it. Priscilla has a medium to high energy level. She is very excitable . She’s a fun dog that would be great for outings and adventures. She will also relax and lay down when nothing is going on. The second you’re up and moving she is to. She loves playing fetch! We have not seen any issues with her sharing toys, treats or food with humans or other animals but she is fed apart from other dogs as we think all dogs deserve to eat in peace. She has the personality to be a super sweet and fun loving dog. If you’re looking for an energetic playmate in a small package then she is the one. A very loyal and loving girl. Needs some refining in the training department but listens well to corrections. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for faster response and more pics go to our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.‼️

Story
Brandee came to us from our rescue partner in Alabama after a tough start in life. She was taken to a shelter by someone who claimed they had “found” her on the side of the road — but it’s likely she was their own dog. When she arrived, she was terrified and defensive, snapping at anyone who came near her. Thankfully, our rescue partner saw past her fear and gave her the time, patience, and gentle care she needed to begin trusting again. With some love (and a few snacks for encouragement!), Brandee has made an incredible transformation. She’s learned that people can be kind and that she’s finally safe. These days, she’s showing her sweet, loyal side more and more — she wants to connect, she just needed someone to show her how. Brandee is a Chihuahua mix, around 5 years old and weighing about 7.5 pounds. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and ready for her next chapter. She does well with other dogs and is starting to enjoy the comfort of being part of a family again. Brandee will need time to acclimate to your home and expectations. Her new family needs to understand that she is a lifetime commitment; they must also be committed to daily exercise, continued training, and socialization. If you are interested in adoption, DO NOT CALL; please complete an application https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/21800/generic. We verify the care of past/current pets. Our goal is to have the very best home for all our dogs and cats, and therefore, we reserve the right to approve or deny an application based on what we determine is in the pet's best interest. #lovedogsforever #chimix #mixeddog #rescuedisthebestbreed #dogs #dogsareacommittment

Story
Meet Griff — a gentle, lap-loving little shadow who just wants someone to call his own. When Griff’s elderly owner passed away unexpectedly, his whole world shifted overnight. One moment he was loved and adored; the next, he was facing uncertainty with no one familiar to turn to. Thanks to a compassionate Good Samaritan, Griff never saw the inside of a shelter. Instead, he was brought into a foster home where he’s been slowly unwinding, taking deep breaths, and learning that he’s still safe. Griff is 6 years old, neutered, microchipped, fully vetted, and heartworm negative. He even recently met a cat and didn’t react at all—such a good little gentleman.  At heart, Griff is a loyal shadow dog. He adores routines, finds comfort in his crate, and loves nothing more than curling up in your lap or settling beside you where he can feel your warmth. He’s sensitive, steady, and thrives in a calm, predictable environment where he can truly relax. Griff is hoping for a quiet, peaceful home—one without children and ideally with another gentle, small dog who won’t overwhelm him. His Chihuahua quirks only add to his charm, and once he trusts you, he loves you with his whole heart.  This sweet boy is ready to bond deeply, settle in fully, and finally feel safe again. If you’re looking for a soft, loyal companion who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, Griff just might be your perfect match.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 9, 2025, 10:15 pm
