Upon first meeting, Max was super friendly with all persons he met and wanted to interact with other dogs coming in. His temporary foster indicated that Max loves to play ball and will bring the ball back to you. He is housebroken, crate trained, good with children over the age of 7, he loves to snuggle and is protective of his family. Even though Max is 7 years old, he has the energy of a younger dog and loves artention. *Looking for a special adopter for our tiny girl! You've heard of Sour Patch Kids...but have you heard of a Sour Patch Chihuahua? They're rare and we have one for adoption! Minnie is sweet and sour. One minute she's giving you a kiss and the next she's telling you off...then she's back to lovingly looking into your eyes and begging to be cuddled. Minnie was surrendered to a rural shelter when her owner was diagnosed with cancer and could no longer care for her. She's about 5 years old and only THREE lbs. If we had to guess, Minnie has spent the majority of her little life being carried around. She is currently in a foster home with several other dogs of all sizes. She does well as long as the other dog doesn't mind being bossed around by a Guinea Pig. She's working on pee pad training but has a way to go. Minnie is good in the crate and sleeps through the night without a peep. She LOVES toys and bones and will toss them around to herself for hours. It's the cutest when she gets the zoomies...she can really move! This tiny terror of a pup loves her person deeply! She would really enjoy an owner willing to take her for car rides, out for walks, buy her all the toys and treats, and carry her around all day long. Really, she's not asking for a lot. Devi came to AFH from one of our rescue partners. They were called by a Sheriff's Department in Florida to assist with a hoarding case involving '50 to 100' Chihuahuas. When they arrived, there were over 150! They were all living in a filthy mobile home surrounded by trash and feces. The trailer had no running water or electricity. Our rescue partner said 'It was, honestly, one of the worst properties I've been on and I have been on some BAD ones.' Thanks to our wonderful fosters we were able to rescue 8 dogs. Biscuit's foster shared this about him: 'He is totally house trained. He goes to the door and whines if he wants to go potty. He also does not chew on anything or act aggressively with my three small older dogs. I leave him loose in the house when I need to leave for a few hours, and everything is fine when I return home. He will howl and whine for a few minutes if you leave him alone in a room and he can't follow you. He likes to sit in your lap or in a dog bed during the day. At night, he wants to sleep in your bed. You have to lift him on and off of the bed, he is overweight, and he needs assistance. He does not like crates. He loves to go on walks, and he wags his tail and does not bark if he sees another person walking their dog. He has a great personality, and he will suddenly do zoomies around the house and play with a soft dog toy, but that only lasts for a minute. It is very comical when it happens. I think he would do best in a home where someone is home for most of the day. He rides well in a car. Biscuit is in the process of losing weight. He is looking for someone in need of a chunky BFF.' Will sometimes bark at bigger dogs while out walking - but hey, that's what Chihuahuas do! KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not know at this time KNOWN WITH KIDS: He was given to the shelter after a child in the family was known to pick on him - smacking and pulling - so we do not suggest Lennox for young children as he will likely show some fear of them given his past abuse. So far he has shown nothing but friendly, outgoing behavior to all he meets, but we want to set him up for success! KNOWN COMMANDS: Still learning but knows what "go outside means! We think he's some more under his belt but we're still getting to know him. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: He is housebroken. He did mark once in the home when he arrived but has not done so since. KNOWN LIKES: He likes to give kisses, go on walks, cuddle and be cute. KNOWN DISLIKES: Children pulling on him - so he will be best with adults or kids over 10 years of age. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: This adorably guy rides really well in the car, walks well on leash and is a well-behaved boy indoors. He can be a bit barky when seeing new people or dogs or around doorbell so he may be better suited for a house vs. apartment. He's a very cute, friendly dude who was not treated well in his previous home by a child so he deserves to have a place where he can be himself and not live in fear. He's a great little guy!!
