Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Stewie is a typical chihuahua in that he wants you to do nothing to him for the first two days and then you can't do anything without him for the rest of your life. We would prefer he have a home with no kids, because chihuahua, but if you have older respectful kids then we are sure Stewie will do fine. If you run out of water, Stewie is happy to bathe you. If you have food then Stewie will beg and if you are walking around with food then he will do a little dance. Stewie loves food. Please do not push Stewie in the first two days as he gets comfortable because he will bite, but after that you can do pretty much anything to him and he loves you all the same for it. You just have to give him those days to settle in and get used to you. He loves other dogs and loves to play, but has no problem telling them who is in charge as needed. Maybe this will lighten up after his neuter (along with his occasional marking), but who knows. He will wear a wrap but isn't a huge fan so he will slowly show he is housetrained in order to get out of wearing it. He ignores cats and does well with them. Can you love Stewie forever?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 5:02 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Gizmo and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online.  If you can't adopt me, but would like to help, please consider making a donation to AAMR in my name to help with my extended needs in foster care.Gizmo is special.  He needs special care, lots of patience and lots of love.  Special pups need special heroes. Mr. Gizmo is a big personality in a little body!  He was surrendered by an owner to a public shelter. They had him for several years after they found him inside a dumpster … so we know his life has been a mix of really good and awful.  He is happy to be out of the shelter and into foster care because he really does want to be near people. A typical Chihuahua, Gizmo has some ‘small dog syndrome’ issues … because he has been allowed to behave badly.  He is a typical chihuahua barker and will not be the best apartment/condo/townhome resident. He wants to be with and near people, but only on his terms.  He protests loudly when you try to pick him up.  He will growl and sound very vicious and, yes, he will bite. He is also on an anti-anxiety medication which has seemed to help a little.  If you talk sternly to him, he will show his teeth and growl.  We see a pup who has been allowed to ‘bully’ his people, and it is going to take to take a strong, determined, consistent new adopter to help break these bad habits.  He is a toy hoarder and will guard his food so he will not be the best companion for another dog that likes to play with toys.  And, it is quite a challenge to get a harness on him to go for a walk, so having a fenced yard is a 'must' for him.  (Small dogs should never be walked with just a collar and leash due to potential damage to the trachea.)  This boy sure needs a wonderful family to love him and help him become a happier boy.  Are you willing to be the hero who gives him a chance? Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~2014 Weight/size: 9 lbs Housebroken:  YES (as long as you can get him outside often) Crate trained:  YES (he is not a fan of being crated, but once he is in, he is fine) Personality: cautious, curious, big personality but wants to be boss, vocal (a great alarm system) Energy level:  medium to low ... he is busy trying to watch everything in every room, but he isn't rowdy Fenced yard required?:   YES definitely.  If he gets outside a fenced area off-leash, he will be a flight risk.  He should never be off-leash outside unless he is inside a securely fenced area.  Getting a harness on him to go for a walk can be tricky (he does like to bite), but small dogs should never be walked with just a collar and leash due to potential trachea damage. Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  YES Obedience training:  Knows ‘sit’ Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES Social with cats: Cats get his attention and he would love to chase them. Good with children:  NO CHILDREN. Adoption donation:  $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Gizmo picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Max (or Maxey if you prefer)! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Max is a little puzzle … a chorkie (Chihuahua/yorkie mix) … with some definite opinions about life and how things should go!  He is absolutely precious, and he is fine being around people and other dogs similar to him in size … as long as you are willing to live by his ‘code of conduct.’  He is really smart, and he definitely understands that everything he enjoys (food, treats, toys, etc.) comes from people … but he doesn’t care for said people touching him or picking him up.  And don’t expect it to change.  He lived with one person for almost 7 years, and the attitude did not change.  If he wants something from you, he will come to you and ask for it, but all the ‘no touch’ rules still apply.  He really wants to stay where he can see his person, but ‘seeing’ is good enough for him. If you want him to go with you, drop a slip lead on him and he will go! Life with Max will also be much simpler if his home has a securely fenced yard so he can get outside to go potty.  He learns new routines very quickly, too. So … if you’re looking for a new cuddlebug, Max is NOT your guy.  If you’re looking for a furry friend as a low-maintenance companion, he could be the perfect boy for you.  Adults only, please … no little ones who might forget and break his ‘no touch’ rules! Approximate age/birthdate:  April 4, 2015 Weight/size: 13 lbs Housebroken:  YES (as long as you do your part and get him out regularly) Crate trained:  YES Personality:  a bit stand-offish, alert, wants things his way, serious Energy level:  medium Fenced yard required?:   YES – a fenced yard will make life with Max so much easier Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  YES Obedience training:  NO Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES although he prefers other pups closer to his size Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster care Good with children:  No children please.  He is unpredictable and would likely bite if touched. Adoption donation: $75 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.   If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Mylo is a sweet senior boy who is looking for a new forever home.  Mylo came to AAMR originally when his owner became ill and could not care for him.  He was adopted into a new home where he was loved so much, but fast forward a few years and his new Mom passed away.  Fast forward a few more years and his Dad became seriously ill, and Mylo was returned to AAMR when Dad could no longer care for his beloved pets. So you can see that this sweet, sensitive boy has had his share of heartbreak in his life, and he has known a lot of loved.  He is still active and loving and ready to find a very special family to love him through his golden years.  Could that be you? Here are some very important things you need to know about Mylo Approximate age/birthdate:  June 30, 2012 Weight/size: 16 lbs Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take him out regularly Crate trained:  YES Personality: a little reserved at first but sweet and loving Energy level:  medium  Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred.  He should never be outside of a fenced area without being on a leash and harness. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … we are Marshall and Oli and here are some things you need to know about us!  After you read through our bio, if you think we might be the perfect pups for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online. Be still my heart.  If you are looking for two sweet boys who just want to be loved, these could be your little men.  Marshall and Oli are brothers who have been together all their lives and both are sweeties.  Separating them at this point would be hard on them.  When they were 3’ish, their owner to surrender them due to life changes that effected their housing situation.  They were soon adopted by a family who truly adored them, but due to a serious human health issue, the boys are once again looking for a new family. Marshall and Oli are as close to perfect as little boys can be. They have been so loved all their lives and that is all they are looking for. They are both a little shy when you first meet them, but Marshall adjusts very quickly, and since he is the ‘leader,’ Oli tends to follow even though he is a bit more reserved than his brother. Once they are comfortable, Marshall likes to lay on the back of the sofa and look out the window and Oli’s safe place is his crate (with the door still open).  They both love cushy beds and soft blankets, too.  Could these two laid back guys be just the companions you need in your life? Approximate age/birthdate: March 30, 2015 Weight/size: ~18-20 lbs and both need to shed a few pounds Housebroken:  YES … as long as you do your part and take us outside often Crate trained:  YES Personality: both area little shy, but Marshall quickly turns into a cuddlebug once he trusts you.  Oli is a little more reserved but he is also very sweet Energy level:  low to medium … both like to get out and explore in the fenced yard Fenced yard required?:   YES … definitely preferred.  If they are outside a fenced area, they should never be off-leash! Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  YES Obedience training:  NO but both listen well and don’t like their people to be unhappy with them Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first       Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  Larger dogs make them a little uneasy, but once they are sure the big dogs aren’t going to harm them, they are good.  They are more social with dogs closer to their own size.  Both really prefer the company of people over dogs.   Social with cats:  Probably wouldn’t bother cats … but might growl at them. Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up. Adoption donation:  $150 for the two of them We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
