Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Good boy looking for his forever home! ABBOTT NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:    Abbott        Best Guess for Breed:    Chihuahua/Terrier mix Best Guess for Age:    6 years, 5 months as of Jan. 2025     Gender:    Male Approximate Weight:   17.7 lbs Gets Along With: Abbott does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog because he is shy. We haven’t seen Abbott with cats but he can be tested if you have them. We would be cautious placing Abbott in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter - Abbott needs a foster or adopter to make his way to the DC area Special Adoption Considerations: Abbott  is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!Because Abbott is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog.Abbott is Looking For:  Abbott is a 6-year-old dog with a stunning black-and-white coat and a gentle soul to match. This handsome boy might start off a little shy, but once he gets to know you, his heart opens up like a beautiful flower. With a bit of patience and love, Abbott will bloom into the loyal and loving companion you’ve been dreaming of. Because of his quiet nature, Abbott would thrive in a calm and understanding home where he can take his time to feel safe and secure. He’s the kind of dog who will appreciate a cozy corner to relax in and a kind hand to remind him he’s truly loved. What My Foster Says About Me: Coming Soon! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet small boy seeking fresh start and love! MILO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Milo          Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age:  8 years as of January 2025         SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 14.5 pounds   Gets Along With:  Milo gets along well with other dogs and has lived with cats. We do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.    Currently Living at:  DC area home   All about Milo: Third time's the charm, right?   Milo's original owners sadly had to surrender him in the fall of 2017, in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. He was about a year old when he arrived into our care, and was quickly adopted out. He has been very well loved since then. Through no fault of anyone, he now needs a new home again.    In his previous home, he lived with cats and did well with them - he was just wary of them. He did well with the teens in his home, but was scared of young children - sudden high pitched screeches and fast unexpected movements are not his forte. He was crated when his humans were out and does well in the crate.    He's good on leash and loves his daily walks! When it's cold out, he does need to bundle up. He's good with other dogs he meets when out and about.    The most important thing about Milo is that he is a dog who loves his people and is always happy to see them. He wants nothing more than to once again have his own humans, to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof.    What do you say? Is he the one for your home and your heart? Are you his forever family? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Please contact Nancy Anderson (nancya@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Wee pup ISO forever home! RANBIR NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Ranbir and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (02/16) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, VA (6100A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!     Name:  Ranbir            Best Guess for Breed:  Chi, Terrier      Best Guess for Age:  9 weeks as of 2/9            SEX:  Male   Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  4.9lbs as of 2/8   Gets Along With:  Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.   Currently Living at:  South Carolina Shelter; needs DC area foster or forever home   Special Adoption Considerations:  Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.  Ranbir is Looking For:  Hiya! I'm Ranbir! I'm a tiny little pup who is looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me? What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon! Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.      Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than June 2, 2025. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.   Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
