ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14132Meet Tallulah, a sweet girl with an endearing spotted face, eager to show her new family that she is ready to learn about the world. Name: TallulahGender: FemaleBreed: Chihuahua Mixed BreedAge: 9 weeks old (est. date of birth 11/14/24)Weight: 8.5 lbsExpected adult weight: 20-25 pounds Current Location: Nokesville, VAPERSONALITYTallulah is a friendly little girl who will seek out her humans for affection. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONSThis wee girl needs the right supervision to keep her on the right path while she grows.Tallulah is too young to be spayed, and her future family will need to arrange for this at the appropriate time. Because this pup is so young, she is recently out of quarantine and since she has only had two of her required three distemper shots, she cannot go outside of the foster’s fenced yard so she has not yet begun leash training. This little girl is too young to hold her bladder for more than four hours so she can’t yet begin crate training. She is, however, doing a good job going potty outside in the yard and using the pee pads when she’s insideCOMPANIONSHIPTallulah is full of puppy energy. She loves playing and napping in equal measure, loves humans and craves their company, whether hanging around her people indoors, or exploring the outdoors. This friendly little girl enjoys following her humans around in the yard when they're exploring outdoors. TRAINING AND LEARNINGEvery day Tallulah learns new things about the world and about how to have good puppy manners. Potty training is going well and she is doing a good job using the pee pads. She likes sleeping on her elevated Kuranda bed. She does a good job sitting for attention but she still needs to be encouraged to keep sitting or she will soon pop up, unable to contain her exuberance . TRAITS AND IDEAL HOMEThe ideal home is one with a patient family ready to help her learn to be her best self. She would thrive in a home where she will be lovingly rewarded for learning commands, how to politely walk on a leash, stay quietly in her crate, greet people with good manners and all sorts of other important doggy skills. As she learns, she will reward her family with sweetness and loyalty.LOVE AND AFFECTIONTallulah’s foster mom reports that each day, she shows more affection. She loves when her humans pet her and she is almost brave enough to climb into a lap for snuggles. She does love to be held and give kisses. In her kennel, she entertains herself while also entertaining anyone watching, as she engages in adorable play with tug toys, stuffed toys and nylabones. If you’re searching for a pint-size pup who will be a super sweet and loyal companion, this may be your girl.PLEASE NOTEBecause this puppy is so young, it has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that the immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, the puppy MUST stay out of public places where it could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for the puppy’s medical safety and longevity.Included Veterinary Care:Visit to Veterinarian: Health certificate includedVaccinations: Up to date for her ageMicrochippedHeartworm PreventativeFlea and Tick PreventativeWorm/Parasite TreatmentsThis pup is too young to be spayed, and her future family will need to arrange for this at the appropriate time.

Story
Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Good boy looking for his forever home! ABBOTT NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:    Abbott        Best Guess for Breed:    Chihuahua/Terrier mix Best Guess for Age:    6 years, 5 months as of Jan. 2025     Gender:    Male Approximate Weight:   17.7 lbs Gets Along With: Abbott does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog because he is shy. We haven’t seen Abbott with cats but he can be tested if you have them. We would be cautious placing Abbott in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter - Abbott needs a foster or adopter to make his way to the DC area Special Adoption Considerations: Abbott  is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!Because Abbott is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog.Abbott is Looking For:  Abbott is a 6-year-old dog with a stunning black-and-white coat and a gentle soul to match. This handsome boy might start off a little shy, but once he gets to know you, his heart opens up like a beautiful flower. With a bit of patience and love, Abbott will bloom into the loyal and loving companion you’ve been dreaming of. Because of his quiet nature, Abbott would thrive in a calm and understanding home where he can take his time to feel safe and secure. He’s the kind of dog who will appreciate a cozy corner to relax in and a kind hand to remind him he’s truly loved. What My Foster Says About Me: Coming Soon! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. HEIRESS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Heiress and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (01/26) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!     Name: Heiress        Best Guess for Breed:   Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age:   7 years as of December 2024       SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight: Coming soon!   Gets Along With:   Heiress has lived with other dogs and done well with them. Story
We brought Delta home in January of 2017, she is a sweet, cuddly Chinese Crested who loves to snuggle. She is getting older (8 years old) and we have a rough and tumble toddler and another baby on the way. Delta loves children and people but we simply just don’t have as much time for her as she’ll need as she gets older. Such a wonderful dog and want to ensure she has the best, fullest life.
