Duke wandered up to a Texaco truck stop terminal in downtown Houston. He had significant bite wounds on the left side and the top of his neck. It looked like perhaps a big dog had grabbed him. He was not wearing a collar and ID tag and he did not have a microchip. Duke came to Emmy's Hope Rescue in June 2020. Duke is sweet, happy-go-lucky and affectionate with people he knows. He is very hesitant and untrusting of dogs he doesn’t know. He prefers small, female dogs and tends to get defensive with males, particularly if they are big. After he warms up, and feels comfortable, he's ready to run and play. Duke is very curious and has a high energy level. Duke does best with a familiar daily routine, so he knows what to expect. He needs a family that’s experienced with nervous, energetic dogs. Estimated birth date: June 2019 Approximate weight: 11 lbs. Live in the Houston area (no more than an hour's drive away). 2. Be 21 years or older. 3. Have a fenced yard. Fencing must touch the ground all the way around the yard. 4. We are looking for experienced pet owners. You must have at least 3 years of good vet history, with your current and / or past dogs. Your vet record should show that you take your dog(s) to the vet annually for an exam and to update their Rabies and DHPP (distemper, parvo) vaccinations and heartworm testing, and that you purchase a monthly heartworm preventative.November 2, 2024, 10:51 pm

She’s a dog’s dog (meaning, she loves hanging out with all of the other dogs at her foster home). She could wrestle, run, and play all day! She’s a little people shy, (skittish when meeting new folks), but has bonded beautifully with her foster mom and loves to cuddle with her. Patience is key, as Dolly is still working on her potty training and leash skills. This little girl will be an amazing companion and would thrive in a house with another good-natured dog or two.

Meet Daisy, the funniest girl I know! Daisy came to the rescue in May with mange and a lot of anxiety. She was found by a kind soul after she was presumably dumped by their house. After about a week outside where she hid under the porch they contacted our rescue and we picked her up! Things I have learned about Daisy in the lest few months. She loves to snuggle (she is buried under the covers next to me as I write this)! Daisy has the best zoomie / play bursts I have ever experienced. She is hilarious! Daisy wants to be friends will all the dogs and cats in our home (even if they are not 100% willing). Daisy is still growing back some of her hair and working on potty training, but she is fully recovered and ready for her forever home!
