Story
Woof! I'm a senior gentleman looking for my forever home. I may be a bit hard of hearing, but I'm still full of love and waggles! I'm a big softie who loves cuddles and belly rubs. I'm a pro at chilling out and going with the flow. I'm good with just about everyone – humans, cats, dogs, you name it! I'm also a master of the leash and love going for walks. Plus, I'm a total pro at patio dining. I've had a rough start, but I'm ready to trade in my past for a future filled with love and belly rubs. I promise to be the sweetest, most laid-back companion you could ask for. So, what do you say? Ready to give an old boy like me a chance? Here's how to adopt me: Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. APPLY HERE: www.richardsonhumanesociety.org ##2197443##

Story
Cain is a 7 years old 14 pound chihuahua that thrives on attention. He's such a happy little guy especially when he's around children. He has never let the fact he's paralyzed from the waist down affect his demeanor or block his little ray of sunshine! He's also dog & cat  friendly and loves people!   Cain's favorite thing to do is burrow under a blanket as close to your body as he can but he doesnt mind sleeping in his own bed or play pen at night. In the mornings he is ready for some good neck scratches and attention from each child in his Foster Home. Food is the way to Cain's heart. He loves strawberries, apples, and egg with his medicine which he takes twice a day. He never appears to be in any pain and is so full of life and has so much love to give. He loves stroller rides, car rides and even days where he can just lay around with his favorite friend. Cain is learning to use the wheelchair but not yet a fan.  He prefers the lifting harness to be carried.  If you open the door to go outside, he will come flying down the hallway because he LOVES being outside!!!! The best part is how excited he gets, about food and people he loves. He does the "Cain Dance" where his ears go back, he smiles big while hopping around and spinning until you get on the floor and love on him. To meet Cain in person visit us at www.DSDA.org/adopt and submit our online application.   * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Vet checks are required. All resident animals must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative (if applicable). Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Applicant is home more than not. ##1603915##

This adorable little girl is Tootsie! She is a happy, spunky little dog with a big personality! Tootsie loves to romp and play with other dogs and even kitties! Her favorite game is to fetch her Wubba and chase the stray leaves that cross her path. Tootsie will need a fenced yard, so she can run and play. Another dog to play with would be a bonus ! Tootsie is a very smart pup, who caught on to crate training quickly. She only has the occasional accident. She weighs about 10 to 12 pounds, but thinks she is a big dog. Come meet Tootsie   ##2244073##

~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~ Health:  Chong is diagnosed with a perineal hernia. Unfortunately, the surgical procedure to correct it has a low success rate. For now, it isn't causing him any issues, so we will continue to keep an eye on it. ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam ***** Temperament: Chong is a quiet and loving senior boy who wants to be with his human all time.  He enjoys traveling, long walks and cuddling up on his humans lap.  When he is not with his foster family being carried around, he can be found napping with his brother Chong in their bed.  He and his brother are best of friends and don’t mind sharing everything! We don't guarantee house trained but Chong does great when takin out regularly. He absolutely loves his treats!   -- Where did he come from: They were found as strays. After weeks of trying to find their owners and having no luck they found themselves needing a new forever home.  Adoption: ***** $300.00 for the pair ***** Weight: Chong is 6.5 lbs Approximate age: 2/14/2014 ADOPTION APPLICATION: http://www.recycledpoms.org/application -- Email info@recycledpomeranians.com to request a printable application. --   ------Please remember our group is made of only volunteers all of whom have full time jobs, foster fur-kids, and families of their own, so please be patient.-------- January 20, 2025, 6:39 pm

His favorite thing in the world is to snuggle in your lap & under the covers! During the day he is a perfect work-from-home buddy who will sleep at your feet in a dog bed. Petey goes potty outside like a champ and can hold his bladder all night and for many hours during the day. He will come right to you when called. He gobbles up breakfast & dinner and loves treats. Petey takes a bath well and as a short haired dog, does not require professional grooming. He is grumpy and will fuss about getting his nails trimmed, though…so watch out!! Petey will not go for walks on a leash but will be carried. He shakes when he is nervous and excited- typical of this breed! We call him our little jitterbug. He only barks at a doorbell and occasionally when out back. He is friendly to all strangers but does not do well around children under five. If you love chihuahuas and all their funny quirks, Petey is your man! He would be best as an only dog, but will tolerate another small dog if necessary.  He is not a fan of big dogs or cats, but adjusting to them in foster home. -- Where did he come from: Owner was moving and had to downsize her dogs.   Adoption: ***** $100.00 ***** Weight: 10 lbs. Meet Stitch: The Chihuahua with a Heart Waiting to Trust Again Introducing Stitch, a 5-year-old Chihuahua weighing approximately 13 pounds. Stitch was recently surrendered to Chloe’s Pet Rescue after his owners were displaced. Adopted from the SPCA several years ago, Stitch likely hasn’t seen a vet since—but we’re happy to report he is heartworm negative and ready to find a home where he can finally feel safe and loved. Chihuahuas have a reputation for being a bit particular, and Stitch is no exception. He is not a dog for everyone and absolutely cannot go to a home with children. Stitch needs someone with patience and a gentle touch to help him feel comfortable and learn to trust again. We don’t know what he’s been through in the past, but we do know that with the right person, he can learn what it truly means to be loved. If you’re up for the challenge and have the heart to give Stitch the love and understanding he needs, please submit your adoption application today. We are also searching for a foster home where Stitch can begin his journey of healing and trust. Are you the one who can show Stitch what love really is? Apply now to make a difference in your life (Dallas TX) https://chloespetrescue.org/application

Story
Sasha is a 12-year-old, 6.5-pound Chihuahua with a heart full of love and an incredible story of resilience. When we rescued her from the shelter, she was in rough shape—her skin was bare and resembled an elephant’s. But thanks to dedicated vet care and lots of TLC, Sasha’s skin has improved by 99%, and she’s ready to find her forever home! Sasha’s delicate skin does require a little extra care—her ears need to be cleaned twice a month, and she thrives on a diet that agrees with her sensitive stomach. Despite these small needs, Sasha is an easy-going companion who will steal your heart in no time. Though she was adopted once, Sasha sadly lost her dad when he passed away. Her mom tried her best, but she couldn’t manage on her own, so Sasha is looking for a loving home again. Sasha is a snuggler at heart and loves to burrow under blankets or find cozy spots to relax. She’s house-trained, fully vetted, and loves being carried or sitting in your lap. Her playful spunk and loving nature make her an irresistible companion. Senior dogs like Sasha bring a special kind of joy to life. While their time with us may be shorter, their love and loyalty make every moment unforgettable. Sasha’s adoption fee is $150. If you’re ready to give this sweet girl the forever home she deserves, please fill out an application today at Chloe’s Pet Rescue. Trust us, one meeting with Sasha, and you’ll be smitten! https://chloespetrescue.org/application

Story
Meet Pebbles – A Gentle, Timid Soul in Search of a Patient, Loving Home Pebbles is a 6-year-old, 14-pound Chihuahua mix with a sweet yet shy personality. While she may take time to feel comfortable, Pebbles has shown that, with patience and gentle care, she can blossom into a loving companion. She walks well on a leash and is making progress in learning to trust her human friends. Medical Information: Pebbles is spayed, heartworm negative, and recently received a thorough veterinary assessment. She had a neck growth drained and underwent a much-needed dental cleaning. Due to a distended abdomen, bloodwork was conducted to test for Cushing’s disease. The results showed she is on the low borderline, meaning she does not currently have the condition but could develop it later in life. This can be managed with medication if it arises, and we are happy to discuss this in more detail with potential adopters. Pebbles will thrive in a calm, patient home with someone who understands her need to adjust at her own pace. With love and care, Pebbles is sure to become a loyal and cherished companion. Are you ready to give Pebbles the safe and compassionate home she deserves? Adoption fee is $225 Complete your application today at https://chloespetrescue.org/application

Story
Lopez is a sweet boy who recently lost his owners due to their health issues, and ended up in the shelter after being found wandering as a stray. Poor boy, his world fell apart!  He's doing great in his current foster home, loving the other dogs. He is wary of new people who come into the home but warms up fairly well. He just completed his obedience training, so we are happy to report that he is doing better with new people!Lopez is a fun and affectionate boy hoping his next "forever home" will last forever! His ideal home would be a calm place, perhaps with a retired couple or a person without kids. He is good with other dogs, but prefers to be the only dog or to have a play buddy who is bigger than him.
