Story
Olivia is a special and sweet girl. She adores her human, has a mind of her own, and does not hesitate to let you know when she thinks she is not getting the attention she expects :) Her favorite thing seems to be to curl up under the blanket with her human and take long naps. She lives with 5 other dogs and is getting along great with them. She isn't scared to tell her big 50lb sister who is boss! She is very curious and wants to know what is going on at all times. She wants to be where you are to make sure she can keep an eye on you. Olivia has a few special needs, and is looking for a special family that will given her the extra care she requires. She can't use her back legs due to what might be a spinal injury. She does have sensation in both back legs though, so we started with some mobility exercises for a few months. We have also fitted her with a set of fancy pink wheels and she took to them immediately. They give her freedom, and she has quickly mastered how to navigate corners. She gets to wear them in the house several hours a day, until she decides she needs her precious naps. Now she zips around the house and the yard like a pro! She hasn't been doing exercises for some time now, however she has gained a bit more strength in her back legs and is able to stand up and take a few wobbly steps at a time. She also went for a short walk outside where she met several neighborhood kids and pups. More walks to come once the weather improves. Olivia is also a little incontinent, and that has been very easy to manage with washable diapers and a little help. Olivia has an amazingly inspiring zest for life and doesn't let this slow her down one bit. She is looking for her special family that will be willing to give her the little extra care she needs with loads of love that she absolutely demands :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 12:17 am

Story
Re-introducing Darci! Darci is a 2ish year old Chihuahua-terrier mix female. She has cerebral hypoplasia. This means she wobbles when she walks. She does a great job of adapting to physical situations. She loves playing with all the other foster puppies and gets the zoomies sometimes. She does not require any extra medicine or equipment. She does have a fear of taller men (possible past housing situations) She will take more time to warm up to a new environment but once she's comfortable, her true goofy personality and tiny tail wags come out. Despite her disability, she greets her foster mom everyday with happy tail wags and is ready to get on with the day. She's comfortable with all the dogs, cats, and small children in the house. To meet Darci, please fill out an application! Application available at https://www.pawsofloverescue.com/adoption-application . Adoption donation of $295 includes spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, dhpp vaccinations, rabies shot, bordetella nose spray and any other necessary procedures prior to adoption. Dallas/Ft. Worth area Applications can be found online at www.pawsofloverescue.com, under the adopt tab.  We require an approved application before a meet and greet is set up.  December 5, 2024, 6:54 pm

Story
Do you have a dog bed in a warm, sunny spot that's missing a little white cuddle bug? Because we have one looking for a home! Rio is one handsome, sweet boy who loves a good soak in the sun as much as a cuddle on the couch. He's curious, fun, and social, though he doesn't mind being the center of your attention, either :) Rio was rescued from the streets of West Dallas by a good Samaritan just a few months ago when he was still a baby. Now, he's growing up quickly, but he'll always be your baby! November 19, 2024, 10:42 pm

Story
Jannel's original owner headed west to CA and left Jannel with her boyfriend. He promptly abandoned the apartment, leaving Jannel behind, though he did come to feed her every so often. Poor Jannel had a massive flea infestation and significant dental decay causing us to have to remove most of her teeth. Through it all, she's still a sweet and tender girl who is 10 years old. With lots of life left, this older gal needs a furever family that's a little more quiet and ready for snuggles after a laid back walk. December 3, 2024, 9:55 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Dallas! I might be a little shy when meeting new people, but get me around other dogs, and my playful, spunky side comes out. With a little patience and a furry friend to show me the ropes, I’ll shine in no time!FOSTER REASON: I`m not used to living with people so I need a foster home to show me the ropes and teach me basic manners like leash walking and potty-training! I would do best in a home with a yard, a doggie friend, and no small children. I may be cuddle-size but I`m not quite ready to be a lap dog right away! While I am not available for adoption, I am available for foster-to-adopt!APPOINTMENT TYPE: Scheduled - fill out an application or email FOSTER@SPCA.ORG to meet me!

Story
Cain is a 7 years old 14 pound chihuahua that thrives on attention. He's such a happy little guy especially when he's around children. He has never let the fact he's paralyzed from the waist down affect his demeanor or block his little ray of sunshine! He's also dog & cat  friendly and loves people!   Cain's favorite thing to do is burrow under a blanket as close to your body as he can but he doesnt mind sleeping in his own bed or play pen at night. In the mornings he is ready for some good neck scratches and attention from each child in his Foster Home. Food is the way to Cain's heart. He loves strawberries, apples, and egg with his medicine which he takes twice a day. He never appears to be in any pain and is so full of life and has so much love to give. He loves stroller rides, car rides and even days where he can just lay around with his favorite friend. Cain is learning to use the wheelchair but not yet a fan.  He prefers the lifting harness to be carried.  If you open the door to go outside, he will come flying down the hallway because he LOVES being outside!!!! The best part is how excited he gets, about food and people he loves. He does the "Cain Dance" where his ears go back, he smiles big while hopping around and spinning until you get on the floor and love on him. To meet Cain in person visit us at www.DSDA.org/adopt and submit our online application.  ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. This adorable little girl is Tootsie! She is a happy, spunky little dog with a big personality! Tootsie loves to romp and play with other dogs and even kitties! Her favorite game is to fetch her Wubba and chase the stray leaves that cross her path. Tootsie will need a fenced yard, so she can run and play. Another dog to play with would be a bonus ! Tootsie is a very smart pup, who caught on to crate training and housetraining. She weighs about 12 pounds, but thinks she is a big dog. Come meet Tootsie!     ##2244073##

Story
Eddie was found in March 2024, in a locked, empty storage unit along with a cat. No food, no water, not even something to lay on. Extremely dehydrated and nothing but bones, Eddie was barely clinging on to life. He was rushed to the vet and was started on life saving treatment. Eddie survived but at first he was extremely snappy and did not want to be touched. We can only wonder the abuse this poor little dog suffered. Eddie has been neutered, had his teeth cleaned, and his fur has grown back. He loves other dogs and cats and still likes to play a little with them. He is very affectionate and likes to be petted now. Eddie will stand on your leg to be petted, though he is still a little wobbly on his feet. There are times when Eddie will still snap, though usually it's when another pet wants to horn in on his petting and attention. He gives a warning when he starts to feel snappy and we simply withdraw our hands and he is fine. He has not bitten his foster parents even once. No he is not perfect. Not being neutered and probably kept in a cage most of his life, Eddie is wary and still marks a little in the house. He loves to be outside and is very social with other pets. We feel that his back is a little curved from being kept in a too small crate. He had x-rays and there is no damage showing. A little arthritis. Eddie would be a good companion. He just needs a quiet home where he can get attention and some love to live out his days. He deserves a good life to help make up for the bad life he has had.
