Story

Meet Buster! Buster is an 11 pound 5-6 year old chihuahua mix. From his foster mom: Buster had a very tough beginning in life. Part of a hoarding situation, he was never allowed indoors no matter how hot or cold it might be outside. His two foster moms have been patient and loving and have let Buster learn how to trust. While he is still skittish around new people, his foster mom says he loves to crawl under the comforter with her and curl up in her legs. He sleeps in his crate without making a sound 8-10 hours a night. He doesn’t like the harness, but with a simple loop over his head he will walk for miles and miles. He becomes so attached, he doesn’t even need a leash, he stays close to his foster mom’s legs wherever she goes. Buster sleeps all day in his foster mom’s office while she works and he loves to follow her everywhere. At night he will snuggle on the couch. He now loves attention and will go anywhere – including in the car – his foster mom wants to take him. Buster is fine with men, too. He does attach to one person but he gets used to anyone else in the home. He is excellent with dogs of all ages and sizes and he pays no attention to cats. Just a generally happy guy. Buster is heartworm-negative and on heartworm prevention. He is neutered, up to date on all shots and microchipped. Buster is currently in New England. His adoption donation is $250 and includes his transport north from TN, vetting and health certificate. Chico is easily the sweetest fun-loving dog ever. He is happy-go-lucky, he is extremely smart and is eager to please his human. He is about 8-10 years old and 13lbs. Chico loves to cuddle with his person. He knows sit, come, back, find “whatever you ask him”. Chico is house trained and crate trained. He recently had a dental. Chico is a good eater. He is polite and loves meeting new people. Chico was an only dog in his original setting, walked into his multi dog foster home and immediately became the cruise director. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes. His favorite foster sibling are the pretty larger females! Chico is crate trained and house trained. He sleeps with his foster mom or in his open crate – his choice. Chico loves lap time. The best home for Chico will have a secure fence. Kids over 10 and with excellent doggy manners would be okay. Another well temperamented dog would be fabulous. An excellent history of vet care for current or previous pets is required. Previous specific breed experience will be given preference. He is fully vetted including spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all puppy vaccinations. His adoption fee is $300. Update: Prince, the Regal Chihuahua Prince is a sweet, little chihuahua with a heart as big as his royal name suggests. Despite his small stature, he has a regal air about him, often strutting around with a confident poise. His delicate features and gentle nature make him a beloved companion. Whether he's curled up on a cozy lap or exploring the great outdoors, Prince always brings joy to those around him. Poor little dog was lost for some time. He was reported as a stray hiding in a corner of someone's yard. They were kind enough to take him in and post him as needing help with a rescue or Humane Society. After 5 days in their care I showed up to inquire about him. They let me meet him and I got him to respond to me. They liked that and let me bring him into rescue. He went straight to one of my vets and we checked for a micro chip and purchased some flea meds for him. They were so kind they donated the funds to get him flea meds. He's in res use and I'm working getting him used to me and the other dogs here. He would be most comfortable as being the only dog. He's very scared right now but is slowly coming around. Needs someone very caring and careful with very small dogs. He is a typical Chihuahua after all!

A couple of his favorite things are cuddle time with his foster family and sunning in the backyard. SKIPPY currently lives in a foster home with many dogs. He is never pushy and has zero desire to be the boss. SKIPPY’s kind, unobtrusive nature will make it easy for him to get along with all resident animals in his forever home. However, SKIPPY would also be perfectly fine as the only pup in the house, so he’s an easy addition to the family.
