Story
Meet Romeo, an adorable senior pup with a heart as big as his name! This sweet boy is over 8 years old and, while he’s slowly losing his eyesight, he’s still healthy, happy, and full of love to give. Romeo recently had a dental cleaning and had a few teeth removed, but that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying life. He’s a well-behaved, housebroken gentleman who loves all adults, kids, dogs, and even cats. Romeo’s favorite pastime is lounging outside in the sun, soaking up the warmth and enjoying the world around him. His gentle, loving nature makes him an ideal companion for a retired individual or couple. He thrives in a calm, cozy home and would prefer someone who works from home or spends most of their time at home. Romeo is ready to bring endless love and comfort to his forever family—could that be you?

Story
Princess was left behind by a former friend who lived with us for a short time. We have tried our best to care for her but with a large family and limited time, we cannot give the sweet dog the love that she desperately needs. She only partially housetrained meaning that she will go in the house if she’s not taken out on a regular basis. However, she is also crate trained and will sleep in a crate at night. She’s very sweet and cozy and loves to cuddle up under blankets. The best thing about this Chihuahua is that she is not your typical yapper and actually only barks when the garage doors open or somebody comes to the door that she doesn’t recognize. She has a sweet quiet bark and the rest of the time is just a very chill dog. We adore her, but we cannot take her out as often as needed, and do not have the capacity to care for her any longer. We are praying that she goes to a great home to someone who needs a snuggle dog that will even go in your purse on occasion.

Chico has not had a good life. He came to us from North Carolina, where, we believe, he was kept in a crate when he was a puppy. The crate was too small for him, not letting his legs grow properly, and he was malnourished. Chico is a sweet boy, who wants to follow you everywhere and be your little shadow. He is fine with other dogs but doesn’t really interact with them much. He’s more interested in being with his humans. He is not comfortable with someone picking him up, especially strangers. He will play with toys some but is more interested in snuggling in a dog bed. Children must be respectful of his space as he was not treated well at the last home, where he was pestered by the younger child. Chico will come to you in his own correctly sized crate. Please consider Chico, he deserves the last part of his life to be a happy and peaceful one!   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. Story
Tidbit is a teeny 10lb senior little who in incredibly sweet but does have a laundry list of medical issues including dental disease, luxating patellas, Heartworm, and has a 4/6 heart murmur. He is a very sweet little guy who LOVES to play with other dogs so would do great in a home with another one. He doesn't seem to mind the size of the dog, and seems to want to play with whatever size is in front of him, but another dog seems to really help Tidbit acclimate to his surroundings for sure! We have learned that Tidbit does have storm anxiety but we have some good meds to help him with that! He also visited the vet June 24th and we know that we will be able to neuter him and give him a good dental after he goes through Heartworm treatment, which he completed end of August, and we also learned that his heart is not yet enlarged so yay for that! He will need to have x-rays every 6 months to check on that progress.  Bonaparte's Retreat will be more than happy to take on the costs for his care.November 4, 2024, 1:26 pm

Story
Rodney is a very curious, mischievous little guy who gets into everything, just like a little puppy. They say this guy is around 8 years of age and weighs 12 pounds, but he acts like a kid and he shows it by running a lot out of pure joy and fun and he adores being outdoors and laying in the sun. He is not good on a leash yet and is not housebroken but we are working on both. Cats are not welcome in his world at this point because he finds them strange and annoying.  But he redeems himself with a family by loving to cuddle and snuggle.  Can you believe that underbite he has?  I mean it is the first thing you sort of notice about him.  It might make him look tough but Rodney is a 'softie' through and through.  He is just an adorable, sweet pup and he deserves a much better home than the hoarding conditions that he came from.  Maybe you want to help him see the blessings of a new home and secure lifestyle.  He will make you laugh, he will make you smile and he will make you feel loved!  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in giving him a forever home.  Please tell us the city and state that you live in when you write to us. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 3, 2024, 10:10 pm

Story
Silver Sam is 5 years old and weighs 12 pounds.  Part of a big hoarding case, he was taken to the shelter and there he sat for a few months.  Critter Cavalry Rescue could not stand the thought that he was in that out of the way shelter where no one comes to adopt a dog.   We pulled  7 dogs from that hoarding case and some had been there for 6 months.  Sam is a hoot as they say.   He is funny and active and must be watched if in a chain link fenced yard.  He might find an escape route and take off just for the fun of it.  He doesn’t go far but he sure does love the chase.  He is good with other dogs and he is full of antics with the cats.  He is almost housebroken and he is just the most loving lap dog ever.  Such a great smile and attitude despite some terrible conditions in his previous life.  He is with someone that loves the Chihuahua breed and understands all the little quirks.  He really has not bad habits except the fun of occasionally making a run for it just to see you panic.  Just a little Houdini in his spirit to have some fun.  If you are interested in this guy please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com Tell us where you live   and what city and state.  ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
My name is Mia and I am a loving and beautiful brindle 5-year-old Chihuahua girl that weighs 9 lb and nothing short of total perfection. This very pretty girl is affectionate and adores women and not so sure about men since she's never lived with one but seems to be a little weary at times. We do think she would do best in a very quiet home with a more mature couple or woman.   This girl is a bed bug snuggler and will sleep with you every night as your best companion that doesn't snore. Mia will also earn her keep as a little watchdog that will let you know when something outside is moving around that shouldn't be. She is definitely housebroken and wants to be with her special person all the time and sitting on your lap if you will let her. If you work from home she's the best office administrative assistant you would ever want. She listens and minds well and she is smart. She walks well on a leash and if she gets out the door she might run for the hills a little bit. She is always been inside 24/7 and prefers the comfort of plush blankets and pillows and good food. If you were interested in this beauty that rides well in the car and could ride on airplanes as well, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.
