Story
Meet very handsome Apollo! 6 year old Apollo is a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix looking for his furever home. He is very energetic and will be his best within an active family with older children. He loves cuddling with his cat friends (or just cuddling in general), going for long walks, and curling up on someone's lap on the couch at the end of the day. He would do best in a home without other dogs since he's pretty much alpha.   He is UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped, and takes Heartgard monthly.   When you need that special someone to share your day with Apollo/CP is the right guy for you!!!   Please complete our application at: http://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/November 5, 2024, 12:34 am

Story
Hello. My name is Chyanne. I am a seven year oldish male little mix dog. I’m not really sure what kind I am, I’m just cute, I know that. Let me tell you my story. I lived in a single wide trailer with another little dog and my owner that is in her 80’s. She went into the nursing home because she is not able to take care of us or herself. I am generally a happy little guy and I am super smart. Like anyone I have faults. I’m stubborn and sometimes if I’m scared i want to nip sometimes so if you have some patience I’m just perfect for you. I have a little boo boo on my nose. I am learning kennel training and I try to open the door with my nose. It’s getting better. I’m learning my nose won’t open it. I had to learn not using the potty in the house. I have done well with that.  Where I am living right now gets up a 6 am to me ruffing at the door to go out and potty. I think it’s a fair trade! I don’t potty in the house, they get up early! I am super friendly and like other animals of all kinds! I need a forever home. Please give me a chance!Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Story
Peppermint Patty is such a sweet older lady at 12. She loves to sleep under the covers at night and naps. She has about 4 favorite places to nap. She loves being outside sitting in the sun and exploring the yard. She has a little playful side as well. Not for very long but when it happens it's adorable. She spins when she's excited. She rarely barks unless you are not doing what she wants which almost never happens because I dote on her. She gets along with my small dogs very well. They ignore each other most of the time. She's precious!Peppermint Patty is doing great! Loves to wander around the yard many times a day. Sleeps under blankets and loves to be petted. She is going to do great in a house with someone who can let her out often. She's great with my dogs who are all small. She not much of a barker, one of the only times she's barked was to get me out of bed at 5am!Peppermint Pattys owner passed away and she is looking for a new forever home. Peppermint Patty was adopted several years ago as a rescue. She had had a litter of puppies but no one wanted her. She is a quiet shy little lady. She has to take medicine twice a day for a gastro problem. Other than that she is a health sweet girl. Approx 12 years old and 12 lbsAvailable dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made. The application is the first step. Story
Poor little Chewy was spotted in the woods and was too scared to come to anyone. We had to set a trap and after 3 days we finally caught him! He was skin and bones but as soon as we got him back to the rescue and out of the crate, sweet as sugar! He's actually a bit of a cling on now, probably afraid someone will dump him again. He's super friendly with strangers and kids which is a wonderful trait for a Chihuahua. We don't think he is full blooded Chihuahua, perhaps mixed with Rat Terrier, just a guess. His pictures aren't the best because it was a freezing cold windy day. Our vet thinks he's about 4 years young. He has some mild tartar on his teeth so we are having his teeth professionally cleaned. He is neutered, vaccinated, heart worm negative, crate trained and microchipped. He will be ready for adoption on February 21st. ADOPTION FEE: $600

Story
Anna is a 9 year old, 10lb adorable Chug (chihuahua/pug mix) who has endured some big human turmoil recently and ended up in a Middle Tennessee shelter. Not much is known of her history, but her underweight condition indicates at least some neglect took place. A really devoted foster mom for Critter.Cavalry Rescue noticed her profile in the shelter and realize that being a senior she might not be chosen very easily by the general public.  This young foster woman is making sure that Anna is gaining much needed weight slowly.  She’s starting to put on weight and enjoys her meal times-with the occasional treat of whipped cream. While she is timid at first and a little wary of quick movements, it doesn’t take long for her to warm up and become your best snuggle buddy. Anna has some spunk and can run up stairs as fast as any puppy. She seems to be good with other dogs and initiates playing, though she doesn’t know what to do with toys. She does well on a leash and going outside. She is catching on to potty training (another example of her neglected past) and we are wanting someone who works from home or is retired as she does exhibit some separation anxiety in her first week with us.  She has found the cozy comforts of warm blankets and fluffy pillows and burrows underneath.  Anna has lots of love to give and deserves  a family to spoil her.   Please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
Prince was rescued from the streets of Ft. Worth, TX and transported to Nashville, TN  about 5 years ago. This handsome boy is 6 years old now and is a darling kwhite Chihuahua weighing 14.5 pounds. He is very sweet and loves to cuddle and loves to burrow under a blanket at the end of the bed and sleep. He enjoys being petted, but doesn't like being picked up suddenly.  He loves to go for walks on a leash and like most Chihuahus he loves car rides and going for adventures.  This boy, certain has certainly has his list of blue quirky, things that need to be respected and observed and left alone with.  He guards his toys and food so we don't take them away from him.  His favorite toys are toys that squeak and he is gentle with them.  Prince will do really well in a mature home of empty nesters or senior persons that are retired.  A home with young children would not be the best place for him. Young children stress him out. Prince needs someone .that understands he's a sassy Chihuahua and is willing to respect his boundaries. Someone with Chihuahua experience would be amazing!  Princess fine with other dogs and cats and a quiet home life.   He is housebroken and doesn't destroy things when home alone. Prince does have the wonderful sides to him. And the sides that need to be respected and observed. As with most small breed, dogs who can be particular.  If you would like to give this young chihuahua, a beautiful home and life where he can devote all his love and attention to you. Then please write to critter cavalry, rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  asap!! ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Contact ccrtennessee@gmail.com.January 26, 2025, 11:35 am

Story
My dog has been wonderful to our family. However, after our family broke due to a divorce some years ago, I S a single woman have had trouble taking care of him. This is due to time constraints as well as extensive travel schedules for work. He is a very calm dog, and we always called him a cat dog. He is a wonderful pet and our family will miss him, but unfortunately, I cannot take care of him on my own anymore.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Nicholas – Your Sweet Senior Companion!   Nicholas is a 12-year-old Chihuahua who will melt your heart with his adoring gaze and quiet charm. This little gentleman is low maintenance, spending most of his time cozying up in his favorite bed or relaxing near his human. He sleeps soundly through the night and enjoys a peaceful, predictable routine.   Nicholas gets along well with other dogs and walks nicely on a leash, making him a great companion for strolls around the neighborhood. However, he can be possessive of his treats, chew bones, and bed, but these behaviors are easily managed with redirection. Like many Chihuahuas, he sometimes reacts with a big bark when startled by other dogs or loud noises, but his reactions are harmless and stop quickly with a firm “no.”   Due to his limited vision and a strong preference for familiar faces, Nicholas can be reactive to strangers trying to pet him. He needs a patient, dog-savvy adopter who understands his boundaries. For this reason, he is best suited to a home with no children. Once Nicholas bonds with his person, he becomes a loving and devoted companion who will look at you with endless adoration.   Nicholas may take a little time to warm up, but once he does, he’ll reward your patience with loyalty and affection. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key senior to share your life, Nicholas could be the one for you!   Medical Notes: Neutered Vaccinated Microchipped Heartworm Negative Maintained on monthly preventatives Has immature cataracts in both eyes - this does not affect his everyday life, he gets around well Has a grade 3/6 heart murmur - not meds needed at this time Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 22, 2025, 3:09 pm

Story
Tidbit is a teeny 10lb senior little who in incredibly sweet but does have a laundry list of medical issues including dental disease, luxating patellas, Heartworm, and has a 4/6 heart murmur. He has tackled Heartworm treatment and came through like a champ so he will be able to have a dental and be neutered middle of February! His last vet appointment the vet did think his murmur was less significant than they though so we'll take it! Bonaparte's Retreat will be more than happy to take on the costs for his care.February 3, 2025, 3:20 pm
