Nicholas is a 12-year-old Chihuahua who will melt your heart with his adoring gaze and quiet charm. This little gentleman is low maintenance, spending most of his time cozying up in his favorite bed or relaxing near his human. He sleeps soundly through the night and enjoys a peaceful, predictable routine. Nicholas gets along well with other dogs and walks nicely on a leash, making him a great companion for strolls around the neighborhood. However, he can be possessive of his treats, chew bones, and bed, but these behaviors are easily managed with redirection. Like many Chihuahuas, he sometimes reacts with a big bark when startled by other dogs or loud noises, but his reactions are harmless and stop quickly with a firm “no.” Due to his limited vision and a strong preference for familiar faces, Nicholas can be reactive to strangers trying to pet him. He needs a patient, dog-savvy adopter who understands his boundaries. For this reason, he is best suited to a home with no children. Once Nicholas bonds with his person, he becomes a loving and devoted companion who will look at you with endless adoration. Nicholas may take a little time to warm up, but once he does, he’ll reward your patience with loyalty and affection. This is Buddy, and he can't wait to be yours! Buddy is a sweet young Chihuahua mix that started life off as a feral, until he was caught by a sweet and loving foster. Buddy got the good life after that! Spoiled with treats and given so much love he's developed into a great dog. He's a very friendly boy and does great with pretty much everyone. He would do best in a household with an active family. Buddy does tend to bark at smaller animals so he would do best in a household that doesn't have farm animals or other small pets. Dogs and cats he is fine with, though he has not had much experience with cats. Buddy would do well paired with another calm and confident dog. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Tidbit is a teeny 10lb senior little who in incredibly sweet but does have a laundry list of medical issues including dental disease, luxating patellas, Heartworm, and has a 4/6 heart murmur. He is a very sweet little guy who LOVES to play with other dogs so would do great in a home with another one. He doesn't seem to mind the size of the dog, and seems to want to play with whatever size is in front of him, but another dog seems to really help Tidbit acclimate to his surroundings for sure! We have learned that Tidbit does have storm anxiety but we have some good meds to help him with that! He also visited the vet June 24th and we know that we will be able to neuter him and give him a good dental after he goes through Heartworm treatment, which he completed end of August, and we also learned that his heart is not yet enlarged so yay for that! He will need to have x-rays every 6 months to check on that progress. Bonaparte's Retreat will be more than happy to take on the costs for his care.November 4, 2024, 1:26 pm
