Story
Are you looking for a little spice in your life? Then Lark is ready to bring the hotness. Lark is about 3 years old and weighs 13 pounds. She hails from St. Croix where she was a typical, stray, street dog and found her way here after being hit by a car with broken back legs. She has since made a full recovery. We are so proud of the strength and confidence she has regained. Lark has a little bit of a courting phase. But oh the joy when she latches on! Her funny, sparky personality comes alive. She doesn't have to court the ladies or pups as long as the gents, but she will come around. She deserves a furever home where she has all the toys, can steal all the socks and do all her little happy hop dance despite the spicy flavor she likes to bring to the table! To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Please contact foster at pawmotionclt@gmail.comCritical Observations:1. Fearfulness Toward People:Displays significant fear of new people, often retreating or reacting nervously when approached. This makes initial introductions and interactions challenging.2. Crate Behavior with Other Dogs:Struggles with being around other dogs when crated. This has led to tension, such as growling or defensive behaviors, especially in confined spaces.3. Flight Risk:Due to his fearfulness and skittish nature, he is a high flight risk. He has a strong instinct to bolt when frightened or overstimulated, requiring extra precautions to ensure his safety.Signs of Improvement:1. Socialization Progress:With consistent, patient exposure to new people and positive reinforcement, he is starting to build trust. While still cautious, he has shown curiosity in controlled settings, and his reactions are becoming less intense.2. Crate Adjustments:By creating a calm and structured environment, he is learning to feel safer in his crate. Separating him from his `brother` A1238496 by temporarily or using crate covers has reduced their stress, and they are beginning to tolerate other nearby dogs more peacefully.3. Reduced Flight Responses:With secure harnesses, leashes, and gradual confidence-building activities, he is showing less inclination to bolt. Will now rely on their handler for reassurance in stressful situations and are responding better to recall cues in safe spaces.Although he will still require patience and careful management, these small improvements reflect his potential with the right care. Hid growing ability to adapt and trust has been heartening, and I believe he and his brother A1238496 are on the right path toward becoming more secure and adoptable companions.
