Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mr. Poppy This adorable little fella is a spitfire to say the least. He came from a hoarding situation with a lot of other dogs. When he came in he was petrified. We took in several dogs from this home and with each drop-off... they told us these were the last dogs in the home. The dogs were not handled much and he will still run from you if he feels threatened or knows you want to put him in his crate. He can be crated and should be when you are not home, but he really doesn't care for it. Mr. Poppy will require a home with at least one other smaller to medium sized pup or a home where his people are home more often than not. He prefers adults and is what we call our "Parrot dog". He is happy to be laying with you, in your lap, or lounging on your shoulder watching tv. He does currently sleep in bed with his foster mom and dad, so he will need a home where this is ok and furniture is not off-limits. We would suggest a home that is not extremely active as he is reactive to strangers when they first come into the home. He does not do well on car rides, so he will be happy to just hang out at the house with you, rather than going on trips to the store, etc. We are recommending no children under 15 for this little guy. He wants to be the only "kid" in the house. If having a companion who thinks you are his world is what you are looking for and are willing to deal with his limitations, then Mr. Poppy is your boy! When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. All applications are ran prior to choosing an adopter... This process takes time and we do not adopt out on a "first come first served" basis. Applications are found on our website www.onedogatatime.us .   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 9:50 pm

Story
Age: 2 years Size: 7 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua mix   Raven was confiscated from a home with over 40 chihuahuas living in terrible conditions. Rescuers found dogs living under the home, feces completely covering the floor, and newborn and nursing babies living in couch cushions and under furniture. Several dogs had began leaving the house out of an open window in search of help. Help came just in time, and all 40 surviving dogs were taken to the shelter and checked out by a vet. Along with several other rescues, we agreed to get the whole group out of the shelter and into rescues and foster care!    Raven is a shy but extremely sweet little girl. She is thriving in foster care and learning what it's like to be a beloved family member. She does great with dogs and people. We haven't seen her with cats or kids but can test her out for an approved adopter. She is picking up on crate and house training and learning how to walk on a leash too. Raven will make a wonderful companion to the lucky family who adopts her!    To adopt Raven, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366November 12, 2024, 1:35 pm

Story
Age: 1 year Size: 14 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua/Pug mix   Olaf was confiscated from a home with over 40 chihuahuas living in terrible conditions. Olaf is thriving in foster care and learning what it's like to be a beloved family member. He's a shy boy who bonds quickly to his people. He does great with all eight of his doggie foster siblings of various shapes and sizes. We haven't seen him with cats or kids but can test her out for an approved adopter. He sleeps quietly through the night in his crate and has not had any accidents in it. He's picking up on house training and currently weighs a belly band to prevent marking inside since he was only just recently neutered. This behavior should subside or end entirely once his male hormones calm down a few weeks post neuter! Olaf is unfamiliar with the leash and does his business in his foster's fenced in yard. He's slowly getting acclimated to the leash but will need time and patience to learn how to walk on it. Olaf is the absolute sweetest boy with the goofiest underbite and snaggle tooth, you can't help but fall in love with him.    To adopt Olaf, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366  November 15, 2024, 11:50 am

Story
Age: 9 years Size: 8 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua/Pug mix   Wilbur was confiscated from a home with over 40 chihuahuas living in terrible conditions. Wilbur is the oldest dog of the bunch, but don't let his age fool you - he's still got plenty of pep in his step! He is a sweet little old man with a sweet and gentle demeanor. Wilbur does well with all dogs and people, and we assume he'd do okay with cats too. Due to his age, we recommend he to go a home with older kids or no kids. He has some eye issues and will need daily eye drops to manage dry eye, but does still have some vision and gets around just fine. Wilbur is looking for a comfy retirement home to be spoiled for the rest of his days!   To adopt Wilbur, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366November 8, 2024, 11:32 am
