Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Orange/Yellow—Adult Only, Only Pet**Due to Abby needing spayed, her adoption will not be finalized until on or after: 1/11/25Abby is an extremely fearful dog. She dislikes being leashed and taken out of her kennel for walks. When approached, she barks defensively and stomps her front paws. Once leashed, she bolts away and does not allow me to touch her at all. She keeps spinning her body to keep her head facing me. Abby showed no interest in playing with toys; instead, she barked at me, growled, and hid under a table. She also showed no interest in food. I believe she is too stressed by the presence of strangers to assess her for resource guarding. We were unable to handle her or determine a safe place for her.For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mr. Poppy This adorable little fella is a spitfire to say the least. He came from a hoarding situation with a lot of other dogs. When he came in he was petrified. We took in several dogs from this home and with each drop-off... they told us these were the last dogs in the home. The dogs were not handled much and he will still run from you if he feels threatened or knows you want to put him in his crate. He can be crated and should be when you are not home, but he really doesn't care for it. Mr. Poppy will require a home with at least one other smaller to medium sized pup or a home where his people are home more often than not. He prefers adults and is what we call our "Parrot dog". He is happy to be laying with you, in your lap, or lounging on your shoulder watching tv. He does currently sleep in bed with his foster mom and dad, so he will need a home where this is ok and furniture is not off-limits. We would suggest a home that is not extremely active as he is reactive to strangers when they first come into the home. He does not do well on car rides, so he will be happy to just hang out at the house with you, rather than going on trips to the store, etc. We are recommending no children under 15 for this little guy. He wants to be the only "kid" in the house. If having a companion who thinks you are his world is what you are looking for and are willing to deal with his limitations, then Mr. Poppy is your boy! When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. All applications are ran prior to choosing an adopter... This process takes time and we do not adopt out on a "first come first served" basis. Applications are found on our website www.onedogatatime.us .   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 9:50 pm
