Story
Griselda is a 2 year old female. She can be shy initially meeting new people. It will take longer for an adult male to befriend her. For whatever reason, they aren't her favorite people at first. She is fine meeting children as long as they respect her space. She tested well with other dogs and cats. PA Kennel License #1333.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mr. Poppy This adorable little fella is a spitfire to say the least. He came from a hoarding situation with a lot of other dogs. When he came in he was petrified. We took in several dogs from this home and with each drop-off... they told us these were the last dogs in the home. The dogs were not handled much and he will still run from you if he feels threatened or knows you want to put him in his crate. He can be crated and should be when you are not home, but he really doesn't care for it. Mr. Poppy will require a home with at least one other smaller to medium sized pup or a home where his people are home more often than not. He prefers adults and is what we call our "Parrot dog". He is happy to be laying with you, in your lap, or lounging on your shoulder watching tv. He does currently sleep in bed with his foster mom and dad, so he will need a home where this is ok and furniture is not off-limits. We would suggest a home that is not extremely active as he is reactive to strangers when they first come into the home. He does not do well on car rides, so he will be happy to just hang out at the house with you, rather than going on trips to the store, etc. We are recommending no children under 15 for this little guy. He wants to be the only "kid" in the house. If having a companion who thinks you are his world is what you are looking for and are willing to deal with his limitations, then Mr. Poppy is your boy! When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. All applications are ran prior to choosing an adopter... This process takes time and we do not adopt out on a "first come first served" basis. Applications are found on our website www.onedogatatime.us .   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 14, 2024, 11:32 am

Story
Meet Skipper! ❤️ 🐾 Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a whoot. 😂 As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience. When they are together, if they see other fur babies they get really excited and like to bark. Which is probably, how they survived on their own for so long as a way to protect themselves being so small and older. Even though Skipper eventually warms up to new dogs, it takes a while, and he would probably be happiness as an only dog in his next home. Skipper is very much loved in his foster home. Thus, only the most perfect of home him will he grace. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. CHICO IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN, AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO PA ONCE ADOPTED!   Chico is easily the sweetest fun-loving dog ever. He is happy-go-lucky, he is extremely smart and is eager to please his human. He is about 8-10 years old and 13lbs. Chico loves to cuddle with his person. He knows sit, come, back, find “whatever you ask him”. Chico is house trained and crate trained. He recently had a dental. Chico is a good eater. He is polite and loves meeting new people. Chico was an only dog in his original setting, walked into his multi dog foster home and immediately became the cruise director. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes. His favorite foster sibling are the pretty larger females! Chico is crate trained and house trained. He sleeps with his foster mom or in his open crate – his choice. Chico loves lap time. The best home for Chico will have a secure fence. Kids over 10 and with excellent doggy manners would be okay. Another well temperamented dog would be fabulous. An excellent history of vet care for current or previous pets is required. Previous specific breed experience will be given preference. He is fully vetted including spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all puppy vaccinations. His adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to PA. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Chico up north to his new family.   If you have any questions, please email us at: newbeginnings_animalrescue@yahoo.com You can apply to adopt Chico here: www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 15, 2024, 11:09 pm

Story
Meet Aire, a bundle of energy and love wrapped up in one playful pup! Aire is incredibly friendly, meeting no strangers and welcoming everyone with a wagging tail and eager excitement. He absolutely **loves** his toys and is happiest when he's fetching them—be ready because he'll keep you busy tossing them all day long! Aire is house-trained, though he can be a little nervous in new environments, so patience is key. This toy-loving boy needs a home with a **fenced yard** where he can run and play to his heart's content. He’s an excellent car rider but does get excited if he sees something interesting outside, so be careful with those windows! Aire's tummy can be sensitive, so he needs to stick to his dog food—no human treats for this guy! He’s a true sweetheart who will bring endless joy and love to his forever family. If you’re looking for a fun-loving dog who will keep you active and always entertained, Aire is your guy! Story
Age: 6 years Size: 16 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua/terrier mix   Gizmo came to us from a home with good intentions, who quickly became overwhelmed by the number of dogs in the home due to a few unexpected litters. This is why we will ALWAYS preach spay/neuter! Fortunately, the family reached out for help, and we were able to split the family with another local rescue. They are all in foster care and looking for forever homes!    Gizmo is around 6 years old and weighs 16 lbs. His former owner described him as the sweetest of them all, and we have to agree! He's a sweet, mature guy who does well with dogs, cats, and people. We have not seen him with kids yet. He loves being with people and has quickly become foster mom's shadow. He's not used to the crate or leash but is picking up on both quickly and responds well to verbal praise and treats! He'll fit into most homes and families as long as they have plenty of love to give him.    To adopt Gizmo, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.    PA Kennel License #18366July 30, 2024, 10:27 am
