Story
Meet Opal. She and her sister Onyx are survivors of cruel treatment and were found abandoned in the cold in an ice cream bucket in MS. They are now in a foster home with us and safe, happy and growing, but still tiny! We think they are small terrier mixes. These cuties are now about 11 weeks old. Opal is a happy, sweet and friendly girl. Opal and Onyx are very young still so families will need to have time to dedicate to potty training, socialization and other aspects of good puppy training so they grow up to be the best little ladies. They would do best in a home with an older dog to help show them the ropes. Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com for more info or an application. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) NOTE: Most puppies do best in the company of an older dog who can teach them "doggy manners," so homes with at least one other dog usually will be given preference in puppy adoptions. Please read Suzanne Clothier's wonderful article, "It Takes a Pack to Raise a Puppy!" PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . Story
This sweetie pie is Ella! She's a Chiweenie weighing between 20 and 22 pounds, and because she's mature at about 3 years old, she probably won't grow any bigger. She's good with other dogs, older children (due to her small size), and her foster's cat. Ella wears a short, black, shiny coat, and her eyes are soulful. In fact, if you look deeply into them, you'll see that all she wants in life is to go home with you, to be loved by you. How about it? (posted 12/5/24, TN)January 22, 2025, 2:43 pm

Story
Meet Charlotte (aka Charlie)!  This little lady is an adorable 7 year old Pomeranian mix (our best guess). She is a little plump right now at 16lbs. Charlie was surrendered by her owner for unknown reasons and is a little nervous with the recent changes to her world. Despite her worries, she is polite, friendly and eager to follow her new human friends around the house, especially if they’re providing treats and scratches. She enjoys hanging on the couch with her people and napping comfortably throughout the day.    Charlie is great on the leash, is crate trained, housebroken on a schedule and sleeps well throughout the night. She doesn’t mind other dogs but prefers having some personal space and time to relax. Based on her calm personality, we think she would likely leave cats alone and prefer a kid-free home.  She would enjoy a quiet home and a family who will be dedicated to getting her down to a healthy weight.   If you are interested in this little girl, who would love to settle into a forever family who will truly keep her forever, please email us at almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com.  (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.)
