Story
Dakota is a 2-year-7-month old Chihuahua mix weighing 15 pounds. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender. Unfortunately Dakota spent the majority of his life in a small apartment and was never housebroken. We've been working on building his confidence and introducing him to new things and adventures along with training. He's very curious and won't hesitate to meet new people, after a sniff, a treat and a slow and quiet approach, you'll be quick friends. He's very playful and enjoys tug and stuffed toys. He's very affectionate and likes to cuddle. Needs housetraining and leash manners. Does well with baths. Good with dogs his own size (Dakota would benefit from another dog in the home to learn from). Treat motivated. Fearful of cats but respects them. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Tank is 10 years old with no health concerns. He has been the only pet since I got him as a puppy so I am unsure if he would be ok around other pets. He does not do well with children which is the reason for needing to find him a new good home. He is an anxious dog and is used to a quiet home to relax in. He will be best suited with someone who will make sure Tank knows you are the alpha as he has an attitude when feeling anxious. He is a typical chihuahua who gets attached to his owner and will follow you around, take long naps, and beg for all the snacks. He’s a great dog with a quirky personality.

Story
Peanut is a 10-pound, 2-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for her forever home. This little sweet thing is a wild child and displays many puppy-like behaviors. She is working on potty and crate training, gets into things she shouldn't, chews on items left out within reach of her mouth, and wants to play play play, go go go. She follows her humans from room to room, getting underfoot, so is not ideal for those with balance issues as she may trip them. She is great with kids and very friendly with other dogs. She also does well around the 2 cats in her foster home. Since Peanut chews things she should not, she must be crated when left home alone but is not a fan of crating and will sing the songs of her people when left behind. For this reason, she is not a candidate for those who live in apartments or homes with shared walls. When it is finally time to settle in, after playing and chewing and chasing and being a busy body, Peanut will snuggle in with her people for a recharge before the fun starts again. She may be little, but she is mighty, and is looking for a young family who can match her energy. If this is you, please fill out an application to meet Peanut ASAP! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 2 years Adoption Fee: $400

Story
Hi there, it’s your boy Carlos. I’m a friendly little 9lb, 5-year-old Chihuahua mix who is full of personality. I’m eager to meet new people, and I’d love to join you for a car ride or some cuddles on the couch. I’m almost fully potty trained – I let you know when I need to go outside, but I occasionally like marking my territory inside. Hopefully, this behavior will stop once I’m neutered. I’m very well-behaved when I’m in my crate, and I’m easy to walk on a leash, too. I’m good with kids but can be skittish if they are too loud or super energetic. I get along with other dogs, but I haven’t been around cats enough to know if I like them. Overall, I’m a smart little fella who is looking for someone to love furever! Fill out an application to meet me ASAP! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 5 years Adoption fee: $350
