Story
Peanut is a 10-pound, 2-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for her forever home. This little sweet thing is a wild child and displays many puppy-like behaviors. She is working on potty and crate training, gets into things she shouldn't, chews on items left out within reach of her mouth, and wants to play play play, go go go. She follows her humans from room to room, getting underfoot, so is not ideal for those with balance issues as she may trip them. She is great with kids and very friendly with other dogs but has not been around cats. Since Peanut chews things she should not, she must be crated when left home alone but is not a fan of crating and will sing the songs of her people when left behind. For this reason, she is not a candidate for those who live in apartments or homes with shared walls. When it is finally time to settle in, after playing and chewing and chasing and being a busy body, Peanut will snuggle in with her people for a recharge before the fun starts again. She may be little, but she is mighty, and is looking for a young family who can match her energy. If this is you, please fill out an application to meet Peanut ASAP! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. NOTE: Peanut is not available for adoption outside of Ohio at this time. Her bio will be updated when or if out of state applications are accepted. Age: 2 years Adoption Fee: $400

**COME SEE ME at our next ADOPTION EVENT on Saturday, February 8 from 11 am - 2 pm at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road. If you have an already approved application, it's possible you take your new friend home that day.** Hi! I’m Goldilocks, and I’m a fearless, little 14lb Chihuahua mix. I’m a huge fan of all kinds of toys, so I hope you’ll have lots of balls, chew toys, and stuffies for me to play with. I love playing with dogs of all sizes… big or small, I don’t discriminate! I get along with kids and cats, too. I’m only 8 months old, so I’ll need a family who will continue to help me learn to go potty outside and walk on a leash. I like being vocal when I’m in my crate, but I don’t have any accidents in there while you’re gone. Cold weather is the worst thing ever but cuddling all nice and cozy on your lap is my favorite activity! Aside from gaining a few pounds to be at a healthier weight, I’m not expected to get any bigger than this, which means I can truly be your lap dog for the rest of my life! If you’re looking for a cute little thing like me, then apply to adopt me today! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 8 months as of 1/31/25 Adoption fee: $450

Story
Pip Pip has been with us since Thanksgiving day. He's adjusted really well. He coexists with all the family animals, cats included and couldn't care less about them but will let them know with a growl they've entered his personal space. His focus is collecting all the squeaky toys and being with/on his foster mom's lap. He goes outside very confidently, does his business, claims his territory and comes back in to find his lap again usually holding a toy. His communication could be determined as mean but that is not the case. It's his way of showing that he likes petting, and scratching and just ALL the attention. He'll lean in hard to your neck for lovin's. A fashionable belly band would help in the beginning because he wants to claim the inside as his territory too but he is housetrained. Trazadone helps to calm this boys excess energy for now, Pip Pip would make a great lap dog for anyone who is looking.

Story
Dakota is a 2-year-6-month old Chihuahua mix weighing 15 pounds. He came to the shelter as an owner surrender. Unfortunately Dakota spent the majority of his life in a small apartment and was never housebroken. We've been working on building his confidence and introducing him to new things and adventures along with training. He's very curious and won't hesitate to meet new people, after a sniff, a treat and a slow and quiet approach, you'll be quick friends. He's very playful and enjoys tug and stuffed toys. He's very affectionate and likes to cuddle. Needs housetraining and leash manners. Does well with baths. Good with dogs his own size (Dakota would benefit from another dog in the home to learn from). Treat motivated. Fearful of cats but respects them. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Tank is 10 years old with no health concerns. He has been the only pet since I got him as a puppy so I am unsure if he would be ok around other pets. He does not do well with children which is the reason for needing to find him a new good home. He is an anxious dog and is used to a quiet home to relax in. He will be best suited with someone who will make sure Tank knows you are the alpha as he has an attitude when feeling anxious. He is a typical chihuahua who gets attached to his owner and will follow you around, take long naps, and beg for all the snacks. He’s a great dog with a quirky personality.
